I absolutely love the app! I'm trying to open a cafe and need 20% of the loan so I decided to sell various items on here, so far I've made some great money BUT I noticed maybe 1 out 5 messages are actual good potential buyers. The app itself is a wonderful alternative for selling, I tried letgo and had NO LUCK, offer up I've made over 40 sales! But I would like if my repeat customers could rate me, they can only rate you once even if you've sold multiple times to them. Also to be able to delete messages would be great!! But all in all the app is great!
NOW IF YOU'RE selling on here you have to be patient. I have had server all people say they want to buy and flake out. offer up has no control over inconsistency and terrible manners of other people, so if you are going to buy, PLEASE be honest and reliable! If you say you are going to buy, then stick to your commitment ... I dont know if people just hit buy for fun, but that can be really annoying and time consuming, also read the details... I have people ask me questions that are already answered in the details. So for the APP I give 5 stars for the buyers I give 3 bc of the amount of unreliable impulse clicking "buyers". Great way to make extra cash, but you have to be patient! Good luck and happy selling and buying!!!

Pros-It's great to sell your personal things!! I've had offer up for a little bit, and I've had great responses from good people that are serious about purchasing the things that you've grown out of or your children has become disinterested in.

Cons- The many offers given, and not being sure who's serious about the purchase. Plus there has been some that think it's a joke and try to low ball you a couple $100 from what your asking for it especially when you, yourself was the one that bought brand new in the first place and just giving other's a better chance of saving money on a product you bought and used seldom or a lot. I really dislike those that you meet up with and say that they were short $50 from their original offer of $200. I tell them thank you and that they should have stuck to their promise of their original offer and start to walk away, then they magically have the full offer as you kindly walk back to your vehicle in a public place. Smh I don't understand why people do that. If they want to pull a stunt like that, they can go to the swap meet, flea market, or bazaar.

What I've been waiting for!! No more waiting for a sunny weekend that I'm off, to easily get rid of my extras ...I'm addicted to be sure ❤️

Since then I have tried several others, like LetGo which was once Wallapop and Close5, but honestly, they really don't compare.
OfferUp has the corner on the little details that make it more favorable to me, such as how long it's been posted. That's pretty important information. And the best thing I like about OfferUp is they don't annoying me all day with advertisements and information about how to go buy something or ideas of why I need to. Both of those other sites continually notified me of things like that. Would always get my hopes up that somebody was buying something, but nobody ever did.
OfferUp is cool, calm and collected. They have a pretty good record is selling things on there. That's what makes it my absolute favorite. And everybody else's obviously, because there's more offers and more people on OfferUp than anywhere else. By the way I deleted those other two apps!

Was a bit skeptical at first but after selling and purchasing several items, I'm SOLD! It's as easy as advertised. Take a photo, post with a price. Do a search and up pops what's available. This app has an option to verify your identity - you scan your state ID and submit it , about a day later they will verify that you are the person in the photo ID. The only caution that I would put out there is that in the few months that I have used this - I can see potential for the "bad guys" of the world to use this app to harm people. Whether you are buying or selling try to meet people in a well lit public area (and if possible don't go there alone) - if selling something like jewelry that is valuable you should be especially careful and avoid selling anything from your home to anyone that has not had their identity verified. Don't let my cautions prevent you from using the app - as a Security Specialist I am always looking at the angles - my experiences have been 100% legit so far and much faster and got for my items than Craigslist, consignment or a yard sale.

This app is great! You can find amazing deals near you so fast! It's like what craigslist wishes it could be! You look through everything fast, see what you like and get it! Selling is so easy! Take a good picture, write a good description, and price item and sell! Much faster than eBay or Craigslist!!!
I love the ease of everything, ONLY thing I wish it could do is add more pictures to items *hint hint developers!* :D
ONLY complaint is that you do get some annoying messages, well if you're an attractive female I guess... I posted pictures of shoes I wanted to sell and guys were hitting me up! I agree with other reviewers that there NEEDS to be a rating system like eBay has for buyers AND sellers, to weed out the creeps and fakes! It can make users uncomfortable when having sexual advances made towards them when this IS an app that requires you to meet the people you are doing business with! What if they make a fake account and use it for something horrible?! That's scary! Also I was solicited "sexual favors" to trade for an item? No lady, no... Lol!

Never have a been to a site that allowed others within the community to buy,sell, and trade FOR FREE!!! *•No starting fee, commissions, or even shipping hassles (unless you offer that-*your cost not charged by OfferUp). Within a few clicks almost anything you could think of can be in your hands that same day!!! Great for parents who kids outgrow everything, college kids trying to make a quick buck, to the retired or stay at homes moms wanting some extra $$$. Everyone has those things (you know what I'm talking about!) that you've got, haven't used, more then likely will not use but don't want to just give it away (that's like throwing away $$$). Take a picture or 2 , add as many or as little details as you want, post... Sit back and watch. Off of things I had in my house of my kids things that they couldn't or wouldn't wear or play with.. In one week I made close to $300!!! This was my 2nd week on the site when this happened. Give it a go even if your just hunting a deal. You don't have to sell in order to buy :) I LOVE THIS APP!!

I have sold thousands of dollars on offer up. And I've also purchased from the app as well. I have furnished almost my whole house with this app. It is truly a life saver. The added security is amazing. Next to every person you communicate with it will show a special icon letting you know if they've been checked out by offer up. Identity theft and criminal activity is popular in craigslist, I would never shop there again. If I would ask for one update it would be so that the app can let you view your battery percentage when shopping. The app takes over your whole phone screen (I have an iPhone). So I have to keep leaving the app so check my battery. Another would be to many view the reviews on the person your dealing with. Let's say someone wants to purchase something from you, if you click on their profile it will tell you how long they've been with offer up (which is very important) and it will also tell you how they are rated. Yet you can't see anything else. Apart from this stuff I love this app and will continue using it.

UPDATE: the things that I have recommend below have been add r to the app. Still a great app to buy & sell locally!

I know lots of people who have this app and have purchased from others on it. Things that the app can't control are sellers or buyers flaking on you, but it can use an awesome update that will enhance communication between sellers and buyers. The app either needs to allow sellers to post multiple pics for the same item or allow sellers to send pics through private messaging.. That way giving out personal numbers can be avoided as well. The deleting process of messages is basically archiving them, which is not so user-friendly. One of my small dislikes about the app is that the back button when viewing an item always disappears, it's quite a hassle to keep scrolling all the way up after EVERY item you view just to go back to the previous screen. In conclusion, I would love to see the app improve its look. The idea of what the app is for is there, but the layout and line of communication is outdated.

I did not have very high expectations when I signed up for OfferUp. I recently went through a very difficult move from CA to AZ. I quickly realized I've accumulated WAY TOO MUCH STUFF!! I started selling on eBay, but the eBay, PayPal and shipping fees limit what you can sell through them. I needed a way to sell bigger things and low value items, so I decided to give OfferUp a try. I sold a beach umbrella I had never used within a week of posting. I then sold two folding bag chairs and a Sport-Brella within a day of posting. I'm set to sell a pet play yard this afternoon. All have sold at my asking price.

The people I have my so far have been super nice. I do find it a bit annoying when I have a firm price, but will have a dozen emails offering a fraction of my asking price. I remind myself that reading these emails is nothing compared to the time involved when using eBay. I'm surprised how simple the entire process is. I just snap some pics with my phone and post them. This app has been a godsend for me!

So the app is great for selling. I wanna say 50% of locals will buy from you if you have either what they need or your photos are appealing to them. Though the inconsiderate people who offer and don't show up for purchase is terrible! People who sell take time from their busy schedules to wait for these so called "flakers". Also, they never respond to messages for the following reasons: they don't use the notification on the app to check messages, they don't know how to use messages on the app, they tend to be whatever about responding, and they simply don't care. What's also terrible is when people state the time for pick up, then are an hour late and expect the seller to wait around for them? Or the buyers wait in the front of the pick up location expecting the seller to know they're there? Like the seller is psychic? Common sense tells you to knock on the sellers door or ring the doorbell. Texting them on OfferUp is not reliable! Texts through OfferUp is delayed or doesn't go through at times.

When it came to selling online there's dozens of outlets and at first I reached for craigslist but the app isn't layout friendly although it has a strong people base. I looked around for something simple to use and had good results. Offer up had those results. In a matter of a week I must have made $400 at least from a move out sale. The messaging is easy toward buyers and sellers. You can save items you like by tapping a star icon to 'watch' the item and are immediately updated if the items sold (granted the seller marks it as sold- you'll encounter occasionally outdated listings) Other than that, the the listing process to 'offer' your stuff is easy too. Unfortunately you only get one picture to display the item so I suggest a very good photo. It will certainly increase your ability to sell. Overall this app is awesome! And better yet the people who participate on this site have been good encounters. I strongly suggest this site to everyone looking to sell or buy used products.

My mission statement for life is to leave a smaller carbon footprint,this includes avoiding malls. My shopping through offer up has been amazing because I find things I didn't know existed! At great prices! I also have sold things from time to time. I don't need to mess around with plastic or cardboard boxes, just one added bonus. The trouble has been getting people to reply quickly. For instance I wanted a garden hose for my condo, the lady took four days to reply, but finally gave me an address and said "come get it and leave the money in the mailbox. The item is on my driveway". So very worth the gas money to get there! Side note ..she apologized for late reply. Others reply quickly; I feel I get the best bang for my buck here and furthermore I'm afraid to buy brand new JUNK from China it's usually just over priced garbage, my offer up things have been excellent.
When it comes to selling, you will encounter flakes but just realize that's just the nature of the beast.

This was my first App and first time selling through an local App, I sold my first item pretty quickly and both of my buyers now turned out to be so cool and totally "normal" haha that we needed up staying and chatting for a bit even exchanging selling tips and experiences:) After my first sale I was gung-ho and motivated but there was a bit of a lull where I wasn't getting any hits on my next couple of items, so I downloaded a couple of the other Apps out there like LetGo and 5Mile, and well there were a few glitches in getting signed up and going, which Made me appreciate the ease of this App all the more! Well after all the work of getting up and going, I didn't receive any messages (except for SPAM) from the other Apps, and in the meantime, what'd ya know!? I got an Offer on this one and sold it the same day! So goes without saying that I am sticking with this APP, better responses, better service, easier to use and navigate and cool people!

I have used this app for several months now and had no problems... until the last update. It must have had a huge glitch because I had only 33 ratings, all 5 stars, and now I have 40 ratings and they were not all 5 stars. So now instead of having a straight 5 star ratings across the board, I only have a 4.5 rating. That's a huge deal on this site because stars effect how you buy and sell. People want to see 5 stars to even consider buying or selling from you. Makes me kind of upset. PLEASE FIX!! It also messes up when it comes to message notifications. Sometimes it won't show up that I have a message, even though the message tone went off... or vice versa. I love this app because I have honestly had a great buying and selling experience with it, and it's 10x safer than Craigslist. Please make it good again by fixing those glitches and problems... thank you!

When I first heard of OfferUp, I thought, "Why would anyone use offer up when they have Craigslist?" I'd been using Craigslist successfully for a while and I was not unhappy with it. But then I tried Offer Up!! Wow! It's actually better. The best part, for me, is the safety of anonymity. Since all communications go through the App, there's NO risk in contacting complete strangers on my personal cell phone. I arrange a safe, public meeting spot, and I never have to worry about a dissatisfied buyer or seller having my personal contact information.
There is one drawback to that factor though: it means there's really no recourse if a deal goes sour, like when my son bought an iPod for $80 bucks but then couldn't get past the password lock - and there was no way to confront the seller because all he had to do was stop responding to messages. So there's that. But otherwise, it's foolproof and safe. Great site!

Honestly the app is great but like others I wish you could add more pictures. The only problems I run into are the offers from buyers themselves. All the people I've actually sold and bought items from have been waaay cool! However, the people I've chosen not to deal with are the people who don't actually read the item description or want you to deliver an item to their neighborhood when you live 45 min away and the item is you're selling is only a couple dollars. I don't mind if the person is handicapped, old, their car broke down, or always working. I'm flexible w/that but I get tired of offers from people who "don't usually travel my way" or offer to buy an item but when you respond, they never get back to you. But it's awesome to be able to get rid of things and get them to people who can use them instead of throwing it away. And if it don't sell...donate it!!!

I recently downloaded this as I was looking for an alternate to Craiglist. Was sick of the constant harassment of scammers; and buyers who were never serious with their offers. After trying this app out, I can say that I wasn't disappointed in the slightest! The interface is very simple and easy to navigate. You don't have to give out your email or phone number as they have a messaging feature in the app. There haven't been any scammers that I've come across, just genuine local people. And the icing on the cake..things sell much quicker on here! Even with a much smaller flow of people than Craiglist, it makes up for it in a big way. I posted three items on here, all of which sold within the first day (had several legit offers within the first hour of posting). Not even kidding. Overall, I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to buy or sell.

Craigslist is archaic the app and simplicity of offerup is built for the 21st century, offerup does not have all the stupid rules, confirmation emails, your posting to fast messages, flags and annoying junk you have to put up with on Craigslist. Fast effortless listing and picture adding (now 6 stars since you can add more than one photo) offerup is just awesome, craigslist your days are numbered, the reaper is coming and it's called offerup, the new and improved Craigslist made for what we use today smartphones and tablets, there are some third party buggy Craigslist apps but they are missing something and still you have to put up with prior mentioned annoyances while using Craigslist, basically the archaic text only interface was made for a cutting edge computer from 1992 not designed for our modern devices, buy offerup stock !!!!

I really like this app. I like that it keeps things pretty local, however there are times that it will search in Shelton when I'm in Everett. You can finally log in with FB, that's a plus. I still think it should have better message abilities. Having to message only on one certain item. What if you want to know how they painted an item, but that item has sold? You can only message on another item....it's kind of annoying. Also, there really should be automatic delete, after something sells. I'll see something I like, go to purchase and they tell me it sold. One pic says sold, but the one I responded on, didn't! That should be fixed. Otherwise, it's pretty awesome. I've met a lot of really nice, sincere people on here, as well! Please update the, only one photo per item. This way, there won't be so many posts for an item.

Besides the ppl that are either very broke or cheap as hell and some ppl that "ask" to buy then you agree and ask where abouts are they located so you can try to coordinate a meeting they all of a sudden don't Reply, it's a very good app and tool to use to sell your used or new, unwanted items. I like the new feature if you mark as sold it give you the option of picking the person who messages /offers $ to you and if you would sell to them again. Shows who is trustworthy and shows that they have had successfully transactions. True you is also a great thing you have to take a photo of your identification and be processed. I feel if you are looking to buy and you see a tru you label on that persons profile it's a sure sign things are gonna be going smoothly. All in all no problems with this app no crashes no issues.
