No only does this deliver you the need to know information (current temperature in Fahrenheit or Celcius, daily highs and lows, and the chance of precipitation), it sets the tone instantly with beautiful imagery and (on the iPhone) animated backgrounds showing the current weather conditions like rain or snow. You barely even need to look at the numbers to know what to expect. But should you scroll down, you're greeted with even more data, gorgeous rendered so that even if you previously wouldn't have wondered about wind speed or the sun cycle, you'll now look forward to checking them on the beautifully intuitive readouts. My favorite of these is currently limited to the iPad, and it is a line graph of temperatures throughout the day along with precipitation chances. While not quite as fun and pretty as the other items, with the twirling windmills of the wind meter or the sloshing water drops of the early morning, morning, day and night precipitation readouts, it does give information broken down by hour. I'd love to see this option added on the iPhone (perhaps in landscape mode?) as it is the primary reason I reach for the iPad instead of the iPhone to use the app.

Either way, it's the best weather app I have seen, delivers way more than expected, and it's something I look forward to seeing every day. User experience at its finest.

For well over a year this app was my daily go to app. It was on my home screen. That's the strongest recommendation I can give. Now they have placed a gaudy advertisement disrupting the forecast view and the single most useful feature of this app. It's glance-ability. What used to be a glance-able single view is now a two page 1998 style two page back and forth. The adds them selves are ugly, jarring, and a complete removal from a beautiful experience. They have even removed the ability to rearrange the forecast segments so that they could keep this pimple of an advertisement front and center. I have no use for hand bag adds or offers for cruises. It would have been better if there was a punch the monkey flash animation than this unavoidable canker sore.

Yahoo took the most elegant experience on my phone and gave it a mullet and polyester evening wear. What is worse is the temp and forecast are slow to load or load for the wrong city. IT IS NEVER 98° AND HUMID WHERE I AM IN JANUARY.

I'm going back to Apple's weather app until there is a worthy replacement.

I don't understand all the negative reviews, most of which are complaining about the obtrusive ad that was introduced in the latest version. I'm running the latest version (1.6.5) on an iPhone 4S and I have a very different experience. Maybe it's different on orher devices? Anyway, from my experience it's an app that provides useful information in an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interface. It's easy to see, which is a refreshing departure from all the apps that are trending toward ultra-thin fonts and minimal color contrast. I love that I can set multiple locations and easily swipe between them, a feature that is oddly missing from other weather apps. There is in fact an ad, but it isn't visible on the home screen (I have to scroll down to see it) and I find personally feel that it's one if the most graceful examples of in-app advertising I've seen. It doesn't detract either from the app's aesthetic or its functionality. I HATE most things about IOS8, but this app is one of the few things that's kept me from hurling my iphone off a cliff.

Why didn't I have this app earlier?? The app that comes with the iphone has a Yahoo! logo on the home screen so I figured that was comparable (if not the Yahoo! app itself) to the Yahoo! app. But I downloaded the Yahoo! app and OMG!! The UI is great! It gives all the information I want in a sleek way. I have never written a review (that I remember!) and I certainly hope I'm more interesting than the weather. But this app is really great! It gives a real time radar/map situation. Clicking on that map gives you a closer look at the radar and toggling between the map and the rest of the app is beautiful! It doesn't throw you into another application. It all transitions so nicely. And on one screen you can see the temps/forecast, barometer, wind, sunrise/sunset, moon phase, etc. All in a very graphically pleasing (including either a local pic background or a "real time" picture of how the local clouds/sunlighting would look at that moment) way. Ok. That is all. I realize I've already said too much. Just get this app already! :)

I've tried many weather apps and nothing compares to Yahoo Weather! It has it all in one simple sliding interface. Most important details appear first with beautiful images, graphics and weather icons, current temp, forecast for the day and week. Slide or tap to expand hour by hour. Easy scroll, slide to ALL the details you need. Maps, radar, wind, dew point, barometer, etc, etc. Add your favorite locations and simply slide side to side to view your places.
I really love the weather icons, a spinning windmill depicts wind speed, you can almost feel it! Dew drops for rain. Clouds, moons and so much, much more! User images appear with info. Beautiful scenic pictures from around the world or your current location. Your pictures can be uploaded and are tagged with your user name for the world to see.

Yahoo Weather is a beautiful collection of data that provides a user-friendly and aesthetic insight regarding the air and skies around you.
It is simple yet complete; minimalistic with a twinge of nostalgia (that stems from the beautiful localized and familiar photos that quietly line the back wall of the experience throughout).
Weather patterns are hourly breakdowns that eventually point your gaze toward an extended 7 or 10-day forecast descending down.
Air pressure, humidity and wind speed/barometer readings are available at a glance. Scroll down to find a satellite view of your current location without needing to type it in or search. Want to see the intensity of rain in your location? Use the filter on that same map to view the geographically color-coded storm coverage, wind velocity, or temperature.
The only thing this app should have is current professionally taken photos of the local weather at all times. Hey! I think I just created a new job title.

May sound silly, but this little app is just a joy! It's a generous blend of form and function, a thoughtful, clean design. I use it many times every day. I am no longer on an endless search for a weather app with all the answers to all my questions and curiosities. I expect a lot and am very satisfied! And I love that it also doubles as my global time zone clock - so efficient! I work with and have friends in many different countries and time zones, so need quick access to accurate times for global meetings, quick phone calls, all day and evening. And it's all built-in! Also, not only does it pay homage to Flickr, one of my most enjoyable home bases on the web, but it provides a momentary look into the world my friends, family and colleagues are in while I am talking with them. Windows to the world. I know it's not real time but it sort of feels that way. You really knocked it out of the park, Yahoo. And believe me, I tell everybody!! Many thanks.

This app is amazing. Best app I've had as far as weather. It gives a more in depth view of the surrounding area and pretty much any place in the world you can think of. Before I got this app, I was paralyzed from the neck down. My mother called me a disgrace every time I fell from my wheelchair. I hated life. Then, I came across the Yahoo! Weather app. I knew immediately that things would begin to turn around as soon as I noticed the radar and wind speed/ direction. It was truly a beautiful moment. Now, I can walk, I no longer even use a wheelchair. And, I grew Pegasus wings! My mother still calls me a disappointment though. Thanks Yahoo! Weather. You changed my life.

Amazing app , love everything about . The only thing is missing is the allergen and sun chart . Please add the tree flowers dust allergen chart and also the heat index of the sun . I'm using few more apps for just that . Change it and yahoo weather will be complete . Love the change of the pics all the time . Curtain places don't have much different pics but where I live they change non stop . Thank you I only use yahoo weather .

P.S. After the last update and adding the ads the app has gotten a little choppy . Make a paid version as well . I will buy it .
Make a choice for your customers if they want to buy or not . Please remove the ads .

I love this app for the obvious reasons- it gives me all the info I want about the weather and it's highly accurate. I teach an outdoor exercise class, sometimes as early as 530, and I love knowing how many layers I need before stepping out. But, what I also love about this app are (1) the gorgeous and ever changing actual pictures of the area, and (2) the ability to save several locations to look at the weather (with a simple swipe). I have all my sisters and parents locations in there also and it's fun to know what their weather is like where they are. (Plus, I love seeing the pretty pictures from their areas also)

I discovered this app by reading an article that profiles useful (and fee) apps. I saw this and was instantly drawn in. I'm so happy I downloaded it! I love the background pics of the cities and was happy to see even my cities up here in Alaska had some! I love being able to check out the future weather...the location of the sun...the animation...just love it all! I've recommended it to all that I talk to :) You guys have done a great job with this! And thank you for not putting any ads on it...that's a bonus that goes a loooonnnngggg way in a world full of app ads

This is by far my favorite weather app. The most stylish, full-featured weather app I've found.

I feel like this weather app has a perfect balance of features and visual simplicity. The city-specific photos with weather effects are a cool touch. And the notification center widget is a nice splash of color and information.

Recently small banner ads were introduced, but they are tastefully done. Not ugly Google-style text banner ads. I can understand that Yahoo needs to pay the bills somehow. But I'd like to see a premium or paid version that was ad-free.

I use my iPad as a clock when I go to bed but I love that this app shows when it's raining(easy to peak and see what's going on outside while sleeping). So it would be nice to have a screen on lock so the screen doesn't turn off and some sort of clock size adjustment. Trust me I love this app and it's all I'll use once it's all in one. I usually don't write reviews but because this app is so beautifully laid out and works so well that I really want to get the word out there. Keep up the good work! Maybe add a windy visual when it's above 10-15mph?

Wow, yahoo's weather app is a no frills breath of fresh air. I was getting so tired of other weather apps, with their non-stop bombardment of ads, slow loading, and more information than I really wanted. Yahoo's app is amazing. I get local weather, FAST! I'm not hit with dozens of ads. The app is easy to use, providing concise information on the weather. Yahoo also sets backgrounds with stunning photos of the location. I will never go back to those other weather apps, that are the so-called 'experts'. Yahoo is #1.

Everyone has several weather apps on their iOS devices right? I do. All I can say is the yahoo weather app is the one I most use. Perhaps it's because it loads the quickest or maybe because I don't have to navigate through a bunch of adds or tap the icon that I am guessing will open the radar. Simply scroll down as it presents all the important weather data in an easy to read way. Yahoo has always built a good simple weather app and this latest release exemplifies how simplicity communicates the most information.

This weather app is one of the best out there. It has all the features of a weather app that would cost you $2.99. However, here are a few things that would really improve the app: 1) the widget for iOS 8 is not working. The widget is very helpful, but for some reason, it is not working for me. 2) the hourly weather forecast kind of gets annoying having to have to read the bars instead of just putting the times for every hour like the Weather Channel does. Other than those minor problems, the app is outstanding!

The app seems to do what it says, which is give detailed weather reports. It is definitely thorough with not only current weather, but also the forecast, wind speed, precipitation, etc. I also like that I can include several cities around the globe and check weather conditions (family spread around). The temps are accurate for the areas I check, so no trouble with that, and it even includes weather alerts for bad conditions. The neat bonus is the background photo of each location--it's just a fun extra.

I am a weather fanatic. Watch the weather channel, check the weather all the time. For years the Weather Channel app was my go-to app, but crash/freeze problems and never-ending adds, I started searching to find an alternative. So I downloaded several (9) apps to test drive them.

I have found this to be the most user-friendly and information plentiful for me. NOAA's apps come a close second an I use that radar, but for overall weather data and usefulness of layout, this one is by far my favorite!

I love this! Easy to read and use, PLUS it is aesthetically pleasing with it's cool animations. This is my favorite weather app. It is highly accurate with it's forecasts as well. I recommend highly! I use it several times a day on both my iPhone and iPad. Especially useful for checking ahead for time before I leave my car to know how to set the heat or AC for when I want to use my remote starter and have my car ready to go at the most comfortable temperature possible..yay Yahoo weather!

The best weather app by far. I had previously used the Weather Channel app and the Weather Bug app. I had upgraded to a new phone and was in search of a great weather app. Initially being indecisive so I downloaded five weather apps. Yahoo weather app won my attention. The other apps had busy layouts and too many advertisements. As the old saying goes KISS "keep it simple stupid." The Yahoo weather app has a great layout and all the information you can want and need. What a great app!!
