I was able to download this right before a trip to Mexico and Cuba. I didn’t bother with global data plans on this trip, so I was not going to have access to Apple maps while out and about. Google maps provides some offline support, but HERE gives maps with some POIs as well as navigation! I downloaded the maps for Mexico and Cuba, and it worked flawlessly. It allowed me to find my way around, and I even used it to help a lost taxi driver find my hotel. I probably won’t use it except when traveling outside the US, but it is really nice to have when I do travel!

Like no other, here maps are free no matter what country. Plus guidance languages are also free as well. Available in driving navigation mode, walking, and also public transportation mode.
While other companies like garmin and tomtom would charge a premium for their maps Nokia here maps has been free for decades. I've been using this navigation maps on Nokia phones. It saved me a bundle. Accurate guidance to the minute of arrival time built in traffic update and alternate route.
Kudos to Nokia Here maps never pay for navigation again.

I just wanted to tell you all that you're doing a fantastic job with this application. I have not left the state I'm using in but so far it's been flawless! I downloaded the map for Oklahoma over wifi and I have had absolutely no problems. This is what I use over all other navigation apps. I mean why wouldn't you use an offline gps? Google maps, and iOS maps use data. It's turn by turn. Can save destinations. I can't wait to use it when I travel out of state. Anyways, thanks for the app! Looking forward to any future updates.

So, Ive been using Nokia’s Map program for about 8 years now, traveling all over the world, saving my favorite places. It is GREAT. You can download all the maps to use off line saving enormous roaming charges. You basically can carry the entire world in your pocket.
If you use one map program, USE THIS ONE. It will take a few days to get used to it if you have been using Google or others, but once you do, you’ll love it. And you can synchronize it across devices and save everything to the cloud. I love it!

I think they give us such a great app for free to make us love them, i can’t find any other reason, cause this app is more than great. Thanks a lot “Here” for making it a free app. Thanks again for such a beautiful, amazing, great and very very useful app. I like the off line service witch give the opportunity to everyone to use the app without using Data but still get great guidness full time.
Finally please accept my thanks and give us more of that great app, never stop making it better.

We live in the US and used the Germany, Italy, and Vatican City maps in offline mode during a recent two-week driving tour of those countries. The maps were very accurate and up-to-date and the driving directions were excellent. The app was a lifesaver in Italy where the route signs and road signs are not well marked. The app also worked great in walking mode while getting around in the cities. And the best part was that we didn't have to use any data! We can't praise the app enough!

This app is amazing. The number one option if you want a free gps. I was using this app already installed in a windows phone, and when I changed phones I thought the days of free Gps were over, but I found it for Apple Store and it works even better: no internet connection is needed when you download the maps, it tells you exactly where you are and follows you without Internet, save places, look for common places and drive. This app is just awesome, it totally works.

I profess some bias as I am involved in the development at HERE but I use the app everyday and find the experience truly differentiating. Living in Europe means massive data roaming charges and you simply can’t pre load a portion of the map. One needs a fully vectorized offline solution with integrated search and this app delivers it with delight and nuance. We still have a lot of work to do and we will study and improve the experience based on your feedback. :)

I use it on an old iPhone 4S, and it works great. It works better than any of the others that I've tried, online or off, paid or free. Also, since you can just download a map of the state you want instead of a large portion of a country, or an entire country like the others apps make you do. It takes up a lot less memory on your phone. So, don't waste anymore of your time or money on any of those other GPS apps. The one you want is right "Here".

You need to download the maps (states, provinces, countries) while online. Once you do that, you can use the maps offline without a cell or wifi connection. I imagine it uses the phone's GPS. Used it in Italy on everything from the autostrada to small country roads. The mapping is exceptionally accurate. Used it for both the car and finding places on foot. You can type in an address, the name of a restaurant, it the name of a hotel. It works.

The rental car agency wants $10 a day to rent to GPS. I simply downloading this app I avoided that cost. The app worked flawlessly with the minor exception that business we were looking for was not on Here but was on Google maps. I copied the GPS coordinates from Google map and input them into Here. This is a great app. We traveled all over Costa Rica with out having a cellular data package. Saved a ton of money with the same results.

It's free, map downloads are free, and they are accurate. I was finding a Staples store and the app showed correct speed limits. Very good feature to avoid tickets. Marking your fav locations and putting it in "collections" is handy as well; beats having to search for the same thing again.

I hope the maps in this app remain accurate without any clutter that would make it stutter. I would donate to make this possible. 5 stars.

The new standard for maps and navigation. The offline mode is a killer feature. Used the app during a vacation to Ireland where we had to drive on the other side. Made it simple to drive all over and visit everywhere.
The only feature wishes, more voices (would pay for some of these) and the option to download all the points of interest in a country. Still I had to give it 5 of 5 since it made my vacation navigation simple.

This app does exactly what it says will do. Unlike other map apps the ability to go off-line and not hog data is wonderful. I've used it for multi-hour drives and was able to turn the traffic on and off when I saw congestion coming up and that detoured me around the traffic instantly once I turned it on. I know in one instance saved me an hour back up in traffic. No complaints at all. It is the go to off-line map program.

This app is excellent. We used the app to plan our sightseeing visits while traveling through Italy. Here Maps provided detailed and complete information for each city we visited. Using collections, along with the Offline feature, made creating our own personalized walking tours very simple. I am sure we added many more attractions to our "must see" list because of the Nearby feature. Great app and I highly recommend it.

Traveling in Europe starting with Holand. Got a SIM card from Libera and was very happy. Called the Support team to ask if their card would work in France but unfortunately it does not. The support person recommended this app. Thank you want great customer support. Dowloaded the app, maps for France, Paris, Amsterdam, Belgium. Amazing off line navigation app. Download the local city map to get very detailed POI data.

Tried Telenav, Google, and Apple Maps all failed in Las Vegas!! Walking directions included details of inside hotels, and downloading for offline use saves you inside where you don't always have coverage, or are connected to free open wifi that need login and don't connect to anything. Hands down my go to maps going forward. (My wife has this on her Lumia and was like hey how did you find directions so good?!)

I never write a review for any app but just for "Here". This is my dream app for driving. I'm so exiting to get what is exactly I need. Do I need compare with other ones? Google map, Apple map, Waze, and so on all of them could operate offline even though they have better experience. I just want to a offline navigation app to save my data and just focus on how to arrive my target. Thanks the "Here".

I love this app. Sure, it could be better; for example, sometimes moving around the menus can be difficult, and there are a lot of configurations to walk through that you'll find as you use it, but in general it's simple and very very fast.

I wish they made a version for iPads; it would be perfect to use my old iPad mini as a replacement for my 2003 BMW's terrible in-dash navigation system.

Fast, vector maps. Offline use. Specific and regional downloads. Filtering of road types (toll, unpaved, etc).

This is basically a full-featured offline turn-by-turn navigation app, put together very well, and for free.

I've paid for other navigation apps in the past (TomTom, Navigon, etc). I don't know if I would have even bothered with those if I had found this app first.
