Edit: I would just like to add some things I would like to see in future updates. I know there are people who would like the ability to trade options and otc stocks, but for me these are 3 things I would consider essential updates.

1. Upgrade interval time. It's a no brainer and I'm sure the developers are working hard to make sure the interval time is as close as possible to actual shifts in stocks.

2.TOD beneficiary. Let's face it, you never know when something unfortunate can happen, so it would be nice to have this option so you won't have to worry about your stocks going through probate. Hopefully this update comes in the near future.

3. Last but certainly not least is speeding up transfer times. I get it, in order for there to be no commissions for trades, the app has to make money somehow and making money from interest of uninvested money is the easiest way.

Still, I would love for the speed of transfer times to be increased, as the 3 business day wait is one of the few but major negatives I have with the app. It would be great if I initiated a transfer on Monday, instead of having to wait till Wednesday I would only have to wait till Tuesday.

I know this is the biggest longshot as far as updates go, but I think it could really take this app to the next level as I know many potential stock investors are turned away by the wait time.

I of course had my doubts from the get go with this app. As with any investment you should be careful with your money.
But I can say firmly after using the app for several months that I am very satisfied, and have a good sense of trust from the app. Kudos to the developers for building such and easy to use platform for even first time investors. Speaking from first hand experience, this app has been nothing less than amazing to allow me to get my money into solid investments. I don't have a huge portfolio by any means, but this app makes it easy to buy even single shares of companies, making it addictive to build your portfolio.
My top Pros:
- single share buying
- fast buys and sells
- absolutely NO fees!
- "total $ return" and similar views are very helpful

Some Cons
- slow deposits and withdraws from bank
- view all button doesn't seem to work
- I can't rightfully think of anymore

The slow account approval is expected with any investment company, and I am happy with Robinhoods timing and support on this.

Some improvements I think could be beneficial for the app;
Landscape stock view and comparison of multiple stocks
I can't seem to view more than 1 year on stocks (the view "all" button is so tempting but it never works!)
Easily viewable total for amount of all deposits and withdraws to my bank would be extremely helpful.

Let me start by saying that your app and program for investing are a hit with not only the targeted millennial population but soon to be with everyone. I hear through the grapevine that an enhancement to add the ability to purchase fractional shares is in the works. If this is the case, this will be the grand slam of this app thus far.

If this is still the plan, then I would like to give my two cents on how to make this enhancement a success. As you may or may not be aware, there are a few buy and hold type investing programs on the market. None of them exactly perform in a manner for which a small investor is without some restriction in their ability to purchase shares.

It would be nice to see the ability to invest any amount systematically over some frequency of time. For example, I would like to invest $10 a month in Exxon stock on a reoccurring basis and have the ability to have the dividends earned on the stock reinvested into additional stock. I want to be able to invest as little as I want, when I want, as many stocks as I want, and with little or no cost through the use of the app.

This functionality will be again a big hit if you can pull it off. Can you share with the investing community what you plan to roll out in the next app update?

I’ve been using this app for 3 months now. I think it is fantastic! The bank transfer couldn’t have been easier. It takes 3 days for your deposit to post so that you can make trades with it. My market buy and sell orders happen instantaneously and my limit orders happen when they should. The trades are free. You do have to wait 3 days after selling stock to use that money to buy more stock. I love the push notifications when stock I am following has a gain or loss of 5% in a single day. The quick alert allows me to take action. I have not experienced any bugs with the software, and I use this app every day. My brother turned me on to this app, and he is happy, too! You can see your trade history, order statuses, and when dividends post to your account. I also have Charles Schwab and Prudential brokerage accounts. I like those accounts, too, but trades cost around $9 apiece. Because trades on Robinhood are free, it allows me to buy a smaller amount of stocks and to trade more frequently. You don’t need a minimum balance I don’t believe. I started with $200 to start out with and have made a couple more deposits since then. I have made some nice money since I started. What’s not to love?

UPDATE ON MY REVIEW: still 5 *'s but really want folders to classify stocks!

First and foremost, I love this app. I have recommended it to about 10 friends now. I wouldn't have gotten started playing stocks if it wasn't for RobinHood. You guys are amazing, I especially love the real time news updates on the stocks I own and am watching.

I would really love it if we had the option to see the ALL history tab of the stock so I don't have to keep on typing ticker symbols into google to see it (or other stock search engines).

I would also really love it if we could drag and drop stocks into folders - I.e., I could create and name folders "LONG TERM" or "OIL" and drag and drop stocks in and out of the folders as I wish.

Hi! My friends and I have been using Robin Hood like madmen the last few months (we are all millennials). We have gotten so hooked on it that we went from playing with $3,000 to about $16,000 (each of us).

Love the new update, esp. Current news cards.

My only urge is that you make folders we can place our stocks in - and also to not delete the stock from the list once it has been sold, because we still may want to track it!

Don't waste your $ on micro transactions with virtual barbarians! Invest that $ in the real world! You'll either lose value or gain value. Robinhood is great for those who wanna learn and start investing. There's no commission and no required initial investment to open an account. I started using this back when it came out and I didn't know anything about stocks. Putting my money in kept me on my toes and I started paying attention to the market every week. I haven't really made any money so far but I can see how the market works which made me make sound decisions when investing my Rollover IRA with another broker.
Do note that selling and transferring money does take a while as in 3 or more days. It's best to have some cash on reserve ready to trade rather than rely on your bank to transfer. There's auto deposits so take some out of your bank every month and let that money work for you. Think of it as another savings account, but don't use it as an emergency savings!
The charts in the app aren't the best so I recommend entering your transactions in a separate app such as Portfolio or Market Watch.
Overall great service! I would like to see an iPad app.

Definitely worth the wait. I've been using this app for about 2 months now and the simplicity of using Robin Hood is second to none. I'm a college student and have been wanting to both learn how to invest money, and also actually make money. The app gives me an opportunity to do those things. There is no way I could afford a company like ETrade or some other financial service, especially with the amount they charge to trade compared to what I'm willing to invest. I would be losing money investing with them. For Robin Hood it is a ZERO commission trading app. I feel that Robin Hood is an education app combined with real world experience.

The only complaint I have is that when you sell stock it take about 3 days till the money is put back and you can begin reinvesting the money you earned (or possibly lost). Also it takes a while for money to be put into the Robin Hood account from a bank account.

Other than that I have no complaints. Contacting Robin Hood is very easy and they respond quickly and are there to help if you have any questions.

It is definitely worth the wait and I would recommend this app to everyone, especially college students.

Robinhood is a great app for someone just starting an investment account or someone that doesn't have a tens of thousands of dollars in play.
It makes funding your account and cashing in profits simple. I could see myself adding money much more frequently. I've been using a big bank trading app for several years and have not once added money to the account aside from my initial investment.
I started trading with Robinhood specifically to practice a new strategy that would have me in long positions for shorter durations. Something that will save me $10-$20 a week in brokerage fees by using the Robinhood app.
This app isn't going to give you technical analytics, and there are no fancy chart options either. It's minimalistic on the whole(which is aesthetically pleasing and good for novice investors), but if I were to change one thing it would be to add substance to the charts(at least time/value increments on the axis).
It took me a few weeks to discover I could place limit orders, but it has really improved my confidence.
Overall, I've had a great experience with Robinhood. Worth the wait. I really hope the business model is sustainable.

There are other apps that offer more technical analysis and trading options, but this app should actually be given bonus points for its simplicity and fee-less trading. People may think they know what they are doing with all the overly complicated tools out there but the reality is that +95% of trades are executed by algorithms that nobody understands, not even the creators. There are programs out there that can analyze more data and executing more trades in a minute than any human could in 100 years...and we've barely even scratched the surface when it comes to making these machines truly intelligent. And when you start to add up all the costs from fees, inflation rates and taxes, you might be better off stuffing paper $ under your mattress until all the defaults start rolling back in and people are scrambling for those bills again. If you are going to gamble in the stock market tho, you may as well stop pretending like you know what you are doing and just use this awesome, simple app to give yourself a head start by eliminating one of the variables that can really add up when you account for years of compounded interest.

I was skeptical about this app at first, especially since it was linked to my bank account. Turns out it is very safe and reliable, and to the best of my knowledge there are no hidden fees as you go further into the app. They are very straight-forward with all their contingencies. Also, I am new to the stock market world at 22 years of age and I feel like that's the market they are sort of going after, but it's a great way to learn about the stock market if you don't know anything without losing to much, if not gaining some money. Don't expect to be a Wolf of Wallstreet on here, because they do a pretty good job of preventing day trading back and forth on account you have to wait 3-5 days to get your money once you sell a stock. ANOTHER GREAT FEATURE is that for right now, you don't pay to buy/sell stocks! Not sure how much longer they will keep this up, but if you get in early enough I could see them "grandfathering" (even if they do change to paying the minimum $7-9 for each buy and sell) you won't have to. So I suggest getting on, giving it a try.

Okay, the first thing you need to know about the app is that IT JUST STARTED UP! All of the reviews saying they need to add penny stocks, this will take time! It's not as simple as one two three. Honestly if you're investing in penny stocks anyways, they are practically doing you a favor because 8 times out of 10 you will just lose your money. This app is free and trading is free and I don't think people understand how big of a deal that is. That means they have to cut costs somewhere and things may take a little longer to do. And for the people saying instant access should be given to everyone regardless of friends. Do you know how marketing works!? That is an ingenious way to get more people on the app. And by the way, the more people using the app, the more money they make, the faster they can add in those crappy penny stocks everyone keeps talking about.

Anyways, if you have any common sense whatsoever, you'll know that this is a fantastic app to let people trade who simply don't have enough capital to use the bigger players like etrade, fidelity, etc. keep up the good work robinhood

I've wanted to play the stock market for 15 years and was always afraid to get started, not really knowing what I had to do. Robinhood made it easier than I could have ever imagined. A FREE stock broker? Unbelievable!!! Everyone I talk to wants to know more. Within a week I had three referrals sign up and I got "instant". This makes it so much easier to sell a stock and buy something else immediately, instead of having to wait three days. Deposits are just as great: no wait to start investing! I'm only glad I waited this long because now we have Robinhood instead of some pricey broker. Even my friend who already has investments in a big broker has signed up because you can't beat free. He was paying $5/trade. I love it! The only problem so far is I'm completely obsessed with researching who I want to invest in next. It's a rewarding hobby and it's fun to talk investing with my friends, so we can compare research (and sound like we kind of know something!). A revolutionary product which enables us little people get in on the stock market action without going broke on commissions.

This is my first time trading in the stock market. I had been looking into it for about 2 years. Robinhood made it possible for me to stop just looking/wishing/hoping/waiting. They gave me the opportunity with no minimum deposit, no fees or commissions, to make trades! To learn to earn for myself. They removed hurdles for me. This is the perfect way for a beginner investor to enter the market and develop skills and the account to execute those skills. I look forward to the future progress of the app and the company. Hopefully quicker settling of funds post the sale of shares. You cannot get out of a stock and into another unless you already had the cleared funds. 3 days to get funds from your bank and 3 days for funds to settle post sale. Either way 3 days can be a costly amount of movement. Hopefully soon also other forms of trading beyond market price or limit price buy and sell. Options and other methods of buying and selling shares would be nice. I can't be anything but grateful though for what I have found in Robinhood. Thank you Robinhood.

Great job with the update again! Love the app! I have been trading with you guys since March and I am seriously impressed! Thanks for the deposit review and auto deposit being added, very nice features. A few suggestions for the next update, I would like to see the charts a little more detailed and showing more of the ups and downs plus better real-time data. It is a little off. I use the Portfolio app right now for watching the stocks. Have you ever thought of teaming up with them? You two have similar styles and would work well together. They have very accurate and nice charts with a more detailed intraday perspective than you and they have some great view options that would be great for robinhood. I also want to use trailing stops, options, margin accounts, etc (all the stuff you already know you need to add) that way my trading becomes much more versatile. I also want to edit in what order I see companies on the main page. Obviously a web platform is needed, but the app works well. Thanks guys! I look forward to the future with you!

$0 trades, a beautiful, simple interface, straight from your phone?? Wow, this is amazing!! This is my first time trading and I'm already making good money a week or so in. :) My only requests are: 1. Less time on bank transfers- 3 days is a long time to wait when the market moves so fast. 2. A custom watchlist- I want to be able to have the option to click off adding every new item I view to my watchlist, as well as having multiple watchlists of different names to help organize my watchlist. 3. Showing more information about the stocks while keeping the app style looking beautiful. 4. A web app for the platform for when I'm at work and don't want to use cellular data (although your app doesn't take up much). 5. More stocks. You have a lot already, but there are some that I've searched that are missing because they're not popular enough but they are up and coming companies I could make a lot of money off of. If you added just these 5 things, you could be the best trading app! You are to me, but then you will be to everyone. :)

It feels like you're being offered a way to sample stock-buying before you really invest large amounts of money into it. A great teaching platform, where you can easily find info on stocks you've been following, track their performance and history, and make an educated guess of where the bottom will be, or when you should not invest. This Free stock buying platform affords people the ability to purchase just a few stocks at a time to see what they really know about the stock market and what they don't know. If mistakes are made, at least it won't financially hurt you as when you are kind of steered to buying a bundle of shares to maximize the cost per trade. The cost is the same here whether you buy just one stock or 1,000. Because of it, I've been investing $20 a week and I feel great about it, like I'm purchasing something that will give back, instead of deteriorate and lose value exponentially like clothes or electronics. I've been using this app for 1 month now, and I am still excited about the great deal it offers.

What's not to love about an app that lets you trade stocks with no fees!? As novice trader I lost money for a few years on small but risky trades—bad hunches or unexpected turns. But most of the money I've lost in the past has been from the actual execution of the trades, which can be from $5-$20 each time you buy and sell, depending on the brokerage. Robin Hood avoids all that and it's pretty incredible. It sounded too good to be true, so I had to try and find out. The app itself is well-designed and while it's missing better charts and news, it does what it says and you can trade with no cost for buying and selling! You can find most of the advanced reporting charts and research on various websites or through other apps, so while it would be helpful to have those things in Robin Hood, it's not a deal-breaker. I'm sure there will be more features added in time but for now the fact that you can trade for free makes this app simply perfect. Nice update that added buying support for Stock Twits. Definitely a great app!

Robinhood is a dream come true for stock trading! The process has been so streamlined and swift, everything else pales in comparison. I tried using Vanguard, but they've made the system so complicated that I can't figure out how to do anything, just trying to deposit money in Vanguard is a hidden task.

One of the features I love with Robinhood is the ability to deposit money while buying shares, for example, if I want to buy 5 shares and I only have enough money for 3 shares, Robinhood will transfer enough money from my bank account to cover the cost difference so I can buy 5 shares. Whereas with Vanguard, I transfer money to their depository, wait for it to clear, then I'm limited to using only the amount in my brokerage account, so if the market fluctuates I may not have enough money in my account to cover the difference.

With Robinhood, there's no depository. I'm not restricted to the money in my brokerage account to buy shares.

With Robinhood, I can buy shares directly from my bank account!

This MAGNIFICENT stock trading app with ZERO COMMISSION FEES is a like a gift from heaven for novice, low-volume & budget investors like myself. Let me be clear: without this app, I would not own any stocks right now, as typically the commission fees offered by even the cheapest of online brokers make it nearly impossible for me to ever profit from the market (because of my small budget & low trade volume). When I tell people about this app, as I frequently do, they are often skeptical: asking if it's really free to use & if there really are no commissions fees. Yes it's true. I've been using Robinhood for about 5 months now & I've never paid a single cent in commission or any other fees. I am extremely grateful to Robinhood for this app as it has allowed me to enter & actually profit from the stock market at a time in my life during which I would otherwise be unable to do so. I cannot more strongly encourage those interested in (or currently are) trading to give this app a try today!

Robinhood is a terrific app for beginning investors. Some skeptics in other reviews will speak of how you can miss out on opportunities because of small glitches with the day trading as well as basic app glitches. I do not day trade often and have never had a glitching problem before but I have had a day where my balance would not show and trades could not be made. Regardless, if you are a big time day trader this app is not for you. If you need constant turnaround on stocks sometimes an app that charges 0 commissions might not be the best. I think that paying nothing for trades is completely worth the risk and deposits to the account are secure and backed. For those of you who complain about losing money because of a glitch, take your money elsewhere and pay $7 a trade and see if you are still "losing" money. Robinhood is a terrific app that is doing things that have never been done before. Free market access. Well done.
