The app itself is really good. Great for refining your search to exactly what you want to look for. Also great for selling - easy user-friendly steps to post your ad. I was very happy that my car sold in 2 days!
My main concern is that the cost of listing is too high.
Many of the listings by car dealers contain errors or too little information, or are copied and pasted from other ads. It seems that the dealers ads are not fully (or correctly) detailed in all of the categories. This means that you HAVE to contact the dealer to fill in the gaps. But I guess the dealers like that. Still, it's annoying, and the dealers should be made to fill in all of the details.
My final whinge is regarding the confusion between 'related words' and 'features' functions. For example, a car might have a sunroof, but the dealer doesn't list it in the car specs, only just in the comments section. This means that if you use 'features' the sunroof doesn't show up, and may not show up in related words either.

Would be great to be able to select and view a specific photo rather than have to download and scroll through all photo's from left to right. I know sellers want a specific photo loaded first, followed by those in the the order they choose. But when you've been researching the same model of car and have seen dozens and you just want to look at an interior photo for example, it is rather annoying and costly to have to download 6 or 8 pics that you don't want to look at just to see the pic you are interested in.
Otherwise, it is by far the best app for buying cars. Just try using the other app for things driven and you'll see what I mean.
BTW a recent billboard advertisement showing a guy saying "I ended up buying a new one!" kind of implied to me that if I was wanting to sell my car secondhand I shouldn't bother with CarSales as it is only good for new cars. Would be good to be able to choose multiple colours and locations.

Ok. I was sceptical when I saw the app was available for the iPad. But wow, was I pleasantly surprised! The CarSales app improves on a clunky website version and I love, love, love the way you scroll through the saved cars and quickly view the details without losing any flow. It really makes me wonder why Gumtree have not developed one of their own. The other great thing about the CarSales app is that there is no concern around too much private information being stored in the app, as is the case with the Ebay app.

Can it be improved? Yes, it could do with some improvements but this is not the place to share my ideas with all of you.

All in all, a top class improvement over the website version and one that I am confident you will enjoy, as I have!

User friendly, step by step guide to creating your ad. I had my entire ad created including uploading up to 15 high quality photos and full preset specifications and options specific to my make and model in a matter of minutes. All contact from potential buyers was professional and well received. Bonus was I had my car sold within a week at price I was happy with. I don't normally write reviews but in had reservations in selling my car privately and Car Sales made it unbelievably easy and a seamless transaction. At $65 this is easily the best value and high exposure advertising you will find.

I find this a fantastic and effective app that has received good improvements over the years however the new UI is maybe a little too similar to what the online version looks like. The multiple car search functionality is useful. If a power to weight search section was added, it would add a fun function.
I'm not a huge fan of the automated vehicle write ups as it removes the personal touch of having an owners description, but this function would be very effective for people without much automotive experience.
Overall, fantastic app and good work.

I have been using carsales website for researching and purchasing cars over the years, and recently downloaded the app to list my car for sale. The app made it easy to document and list my car for sale, removing the need to mess around with uploading and transferring the photos from a camera to the computer. The online car database removed the need for me to list all the facts and features about the car and assist me with getting on to the important fact, of selling the car. The car was listed for only 24 hours, and was sold.

Anything from wheelbase dimensions for a particular car to optional features on a car.

Although this is a 5/5 it loses some of its integrity due to the user base -0.2/5. Displaying, at times, unreliable and false information about an ad.

Don't get me wrong though, it gets its +4/5 from the amazing user compatibility and in detailed information as per any car search. The additional +0.8 is its great staff of Carsales that assist with kind regards on any topic/problem/matter/*insert relevant synonyms here*

excellent app, actually excellent website! the app is just a bonus. the ability to add multiple makes and models is the best feature for me.

a suggestion though: in the app, have the ability to select more features per car/make when selecting a multiple car search. for example, when selecting a lamborghini aventador, a ferrari 458, and an audi r8 - make it possible to individually select a 10 cylinder option for the r8. does this make sense?

anyway, great service and again, excellent app!

This app is fantastic. Search function works fantastically, and refinement is perfect. If only the website used the same system. App makes it incredibly easy to set up a search for multiple cars with the "tick the box" system, whereas the website's "add another car" function is painfully inefficient. The best way to go is to create the search on the app, save it, and then open the search on the website to get larger pictures (bigger screen size). Best app for buying cars out there.

Search filter/s are excellent: all the car's vitals are clearly presented and can be ranked. My personal experience was that I bought the top-listed car for my search criterion and (to date) have not regretted it. Having all this data on mobile device works in several contexts, including using iPhone as brag book! For the prospetive car buyer (used and new) this app is invaluable, and I am certain vendors too will love the amount of traffic hence generated from their listing/s.

I actually find this better to use than the desktop site in most ways. Search works really nicely, and the ability to save searches, cars etc. is great. I just wish the buttons next to manufacturers and models that take you to the next section rather than just checking the box or going back to the previous window were bigger - they're quite hard to tap.

What a fantastic website to app conversation. Brings all of the positives of the site and then adds a few more (love he way it saves your sort preferences etc) have not had one problem with it so far. Well done car sales. Note: I have not used the app to sell, only search and buy so I can not comment on that side.

I have used this app both times I purchased my cars. My most recent will be delivered tomorrow and this app helped me really scrutinise the models available and ensured I knew the best price I should pay. Really happy and recommend using it for people who want to be absolutely sure they get the best deal.

Very Good. Easy to use. Would be good if it would open on the saved cars the email notification was talking about.
Also can all platforms of the App perform the same, to be consistent with each Operating System being used.
Laptop application looks and behaves differently to iPad application.

I've used this app for both sides, selling and buying. I've just sold my Ute via carsales and being able to utilize the full features of the web version on my phone was excellent! Very happy with the outcome and will definitely be using carsales for any future vehicle sales..

Carsales have created a fantastic app with no bugs that have interrupted my searching. The only recommendation I'd give is to create a 'night mode' where most of the white background is dark so it easier for the eyes to use in a dark area.
Overall, Great app!!!

It actually works. Very easy to use, communicating with sellers etc..Should start building more options to filter like memory seats, sunroof, Nav , reverse camera. Would also recommend multi sort. Eg: 1st by year then rate etc..makes it easier to Shortlist.

Put an auto alert in for a 997 Porsche with low ks and within 3 weeks just the right car up... Went there and literally bought on 15 mins!! Just what I was after and a fair price after a little haggle.

I had a great response for my car through carsales and in less than 2 weeks of having the ad up the car was sold! The best $65 spent to have a hassle free ad that was already pre written to suit my car! Couldn't ask for more. Great app, great site! Thanks

Used it to research and buy my last car (new i30 diesel premium) - put me in touch with a great car dealer, which I bought the next weekend. Smooth process to then sell (dealer trade in too low) and I got a great price from a buyer in Melbourne.
