This application is always reliable. I have no issues quickly logging in to review my balance and make payments. The design and feel is not over complicated. To often designers want to add radio buttons and drop downs for everything. I think this is a great app based off of ease of use and convenience.

A few more reasons I enjoy this app is I like to use my card for points. The benefit of payments posting immediately after I make the payment through the app is fast and convenient. Many competitors make you wait 24-72 hours to post a payment. I can quickly see my balance, make a payment if I don't have the available amount for my purchase, and all just before reaching the register.
Word of caution because companies are always looking for enhancements. Don't ruin the functionality of this app!!!

This is a great app. AmEx has done a great job integrating with Apple Pay. I love the fact that even purchases made with the real plastic card show up in Passbook, as well as a list of my recent transactions. None of the other cards I have in Apple Pay seem to do this. I like this so much I may not use my other cards as much, and will definitely keep AmEx as my default card in Apple pay.

The only thing I’d like to see is Touch ID integration. That would make this app perfect.

***UPDATE: The app now has Touch ID integration. I nearly jumped up and down when I saw that.

Also, the Bank of America app has started showing CC transaction notifications, though theirs don’t seem to work as well as AmEx’s.

I love AMEX so much. I just turned 24, and for the past 3 years I've had a credit card with Citi (MasterCard), Capital One (VISA) & Amex. Amex by far has been the most generous and costumer friendly then the others. I always love their app and it was the only one that lets you see transactions in Wallet (or Passbook). I love the instant notification of when I bought something for security reasons. Capital one made u buy a whole other app for it, so u had 2 pointless apps on your phone wasting space. So bottom line after testing all those cards I'll be closing them both and staying with AMEX for life. I hope they never ever change anything!!!

These guys really get what it means to develop an Apple product. The app is actually one of my favorites... Just the right amount of information, seamless integration, and Touch ID making things simple to boot.

One change I'd like to request: although I can see and activate membership rewards, I don't believe I can see what I currently have activated or their expiration dates. So for example if I've applied a double points reward to West Elm to my account for the next month, I'd love to be able to see and be reminded of that.

Overall a great app. I see why Apple keeps featuring it in their recent commercials - it's insanely great.

Update: They have added a due date very happy to see they are reading the reviews. Also they have added the text option but it has to be setup on their website everyone should enable text. I love this option because it gives me peace of mind because I see the charge I made or did not make immediately.

Good APP wish it had these features from my BofA APP.
Examples like BofA APP sends a Alert like a text message when the card is used online or over the phone immediately when the card is charged. BofA offers a bunch of alert features like this AMEX will send a email the the next day. AMEX please add a Bill Due Date to your APP

Using an iphone 6 with the latest operating system update. This app has not given any trouble and has performed to expectation. I am no nonsense user and like having easy access to my accounts. Use of the touch id is a plus for me also because even though passwords are crucial, once I log into my phone I don't always feel the need to continually log into different accounts. The payment and history portion are the primary go to's on this app for me. Helping me keep up on payments and not being late. Also if you share cards with a mate or dependents it allows you to track their purchases as well so over buying isn't happening.

The muppets moaning about Touch ID not working are misinterpreting the pop up message. The "Enter Password" they're referring to is an alternative to your Touch ID should Touch ID fail to authenticate you. When the dreaded Touch ID/Enter Password message pops up, simply put your Touch ID configured finger, one of the eleven these users seem to have, on the Home button. The Amex app will log you in as expected. If you keep hitting "Enter Password", guess what, it will continue to prompt you for your password. Those crazy developers... Fancy putting an "Enter Password" link on that pop up which then prompts for a password.

Great app. No complaints. Using reward $ to pay your bill is fast and easy. Touch ID works as advertised. Cash back feature is far superior to mileage cards which work out to about 0.3% of purchases to fly with miles. (Spend $100k and get a $450 ticket). Better to use the cash to fly on any airline at any time of day as opposed to limited seats and flights at inconvenient times with layovers, rude flight attendants (United), and ever changing mileage quotas for flights. You can also now buy one way tickets on one carrier and return on another to put a cheaper total flight together.

I thought the app was good before. I like that it was simplified and tells me what I want to know (aka I don't have anything to pay) right up front so I don't have to do the math. I also love the local offers section. I didn't even know that was a benefit of my card. Already added a few and can't wait to use them. I do agree though that the card icon for the menu button was an unusual choice. Not bad, but not intuitive as a menu item. The callout told me though so it isn't a big deal. Plus I'll probably never have to use that menu anyway. Great job so far!

American Express has always been very customer centric with top notch human service. This electronic app is a very close kin of that. I've been a customer for close to 25 years and I am impressed with the app. Saved me a few calls to the call center. Just convenient and easy to navigate and see. If you are a customer I highly recommend getting this app. Doesn't take much space and is full of features. Pretty stable too.
This app just get better. Latest post the transaction in real time in my notifications. I use it with apple pay. Good job!!

This app is another reason why I continue to value my Amex card membership. The clean, refined interface is smooth and easy to use, and makes viewing statements and making payments just a few taps away. And I can't stress how great TouchID login is (something several other banks/card issuers have yet to incorporate into their apps).

One feature request I have is to add the ability to view FICO scores in the app (which was recently added to the website).

Overall, a must-have for Amex cardmembers who value mobile account management.

I do love the app. It gets the job done but nothing about it excites me. I only open it when I need to make my payments or check my balance. The only thing that exited me about this app was the touch id. Absolutely love it. But beyond that there's nothing that pulls me in - sometimes I get push notifications for restaurants around lunch or dinner time which I though was cool. I love Amex and will continuing using the app but can we make it more personal with easy to view shopping trends? Something that pulls me back?

I think this app is great. Really impressed that it came out of a financial institution. I think managing multiple cards is super simple. And my balance and making a payment is front-and-center, which is what I come to the app to do. Also I really like how it differentiates between pending and posted transactions. My impression is that this data is available sooner than with other credit cards I've had in the past. In all, this is the kind of tool I'd expect from the "premium" brand in the market.

I love my Amex card, and the iPhone app makes the experience that much better. I'm a huge fan of the push notification feature. When dining, I can see the exact time the staff has swiped my card. The interface is simplistic and allows me to see important card information immediately on my smartphone. I always know if there's something I can't find in the app, I can use the contact feature and be connected to a support professional in minutes. This app is a must for any Amex customer.

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. This is one of the best apps I have. Is it better than PNC and Discover? No. Is it worse? Nope! I love the app. I hate technology because it always seems to malfunction around me, but this app works just fine: Touch ID, I can redeem my rewards, check my statements, and make payments. Only thing they could add would be to have the ability to question a transaction from the app instead of calling; not necessary, but would be nice.

The app is nice but i feel its missing something. Its very bland. Also, like someone mentioned credit score on the app would be nice. Also, all offers should automatically be activated. You may not use them but its your choice as a member to use or not. Besides, who has time to go to the website everyday to see if a new one popped in. Just add it to my card and send me a notification that you did and what it was. Simple and it may entice you to purchase said product.

I have used multiple apps for credit cards and Amex app is the best by far. Try it yourself, you will not regret it. I get instant alerts for purchases on my card, many times before the merchant has returned my card, I see the charge. My card was scammed at at grocery store, and the alerts are what let me know about unauthorized charges. I contacted customer service and had a new card the next day. Anyone using this card for business I highly recommend this app!

This is when of the way better apps out there for credit cards. The only thing I wish it did was have the ability to dispute rental car insurance charges.
I usually opt for the rental car insurance, but there are sometimes I don't take it. For instance, my recent Silvercar rental provided automatic coverage. I didn't need AMEX coverage. However, coverage is automatically charged with any car rental.
Great customer service! THE best in the industry!

Great card app. I use several card apps and Amex has done their homework and has listened to their customers--I like this app much better than the others. Functionality is intuitive and the notification of charges feature is almost instantaneous at the point of sale--a confidence builder as far as security and accuracy is concerned. I am a new Amex customer and their site and app feel like they genuinely care about their customer services. Thanks!

Thank you AMEX for the Touch ID app log-in update. American Express is the "first" among my many third-party apps to go with the Touch-ID option. Right now, using my AMEX mobile account is just a finger tip away to any of the app's excellent features. Touch ID is a significant feature update added to the app and the experience with use is very pleasing and appealing. It's quick to set up. I would highly recommend AMEX to a friend or colleague.
