Seriously, if you have not downloaded this yet and you have come to the reviews to see if the game is even worth it. Just download it, I could go on for days about how amazing this game was and no I'm not being paid to even leave a review telling you how amazing this game is. I myself am super skeptical when it comes to free to play (with in app purchase) games. Because more often then not you get sucked into a game but have to spend money on useless digital content that doesn't even last. (Sorry Pokemon shuffle) But, this game on the other hand. I haven't spent a dime and as long as you know how to manage your AP cost and upgrade it through "avatar coins" (which btw gives you costumes and you earn the stuff doing levels) you literally can waste your life away on this game without waiting or spending any money. The daily quests and metal opportunities are amazing. I really hope as time goes by and more updates are released that Square keeps things the way they are now. Yes levels are right now easier to get through because they are running a launch promo on half price AP though I figure as you progress you will have enough AP built up before the next patch to enjoy the game further. So please give this game a try. I've been playing the Kingdom Hearts series since it came out when I was a pre teen and like I said I was skeptical at first, but I don't regret a thing!

I've been a Kingdom Hearts fan since the first game came out. I remember trying to play KH1 on my old TV that couldn't turn the brightness up, so when I played in Halloween Town I could barely see anything. I remember getting to the World That Never Was and just making up my cutscenes. I remember having a dandy old time playing as dual-wielding, hooded Roxas while playing multiplayer in 365/2 Days.

With this game, I've finally found something to quench my thirst for another Kingdom Hearts game - something to bide the time until KH3 comes out! If you're pondering whether or not to download this, what the IAPs are like: trust me when I say that you should download it. The IAPs are present, but unnecessary. They also don't give anyone an opportunity to P2W by buying medals. I suppose you could have P2W, as when you die you can revive, or refresh you AP for 100 Premium Currency each; however, this is irrelevant, as I'm 120 hours in and have only died once due to a raid that I wasn't ready for.

I highly suggest you download this, and join the Leopardus Union as well as my party, The Guardians! We accept all, and are very beginner friendly.

I am a huge KH fan, and I adore the nostalgia it brought when playing it. My only concern is that it needs more new maps, (maybe a Zootopia, Halloween town, Jungle Book, possible Marvel/Star Wars, bring along Traverse Town, Hallow Bastion and Tarzan for oldies fun) As for as the game play, it's solid and very smooth, with fluid combos. It strictly follows a grind but I like this, and it keeps you busy. The clothes selection is pretty decent thus far, and increases by level, so I'm happy with what I've discovered and hope to see more. Needs more keyblades, even if they are newly made up, hence my comment involving new maps. (Which is my main thought + heartless that come from each new territory). Awesome animation and lovely music that makes you think back to getting KH on PS2. The sounds bring back memories alone. Hopefully they read this and consider the options, I wouldn't mind supporting via money

I know my review title seems negative. But I sincerely give this game 5 stars. I have been playing for about 20 days every day and am completely hooked. It is a great fun game and the creators did an amazing job with all the gameplay and content.
With that being said the only flaw is that it is an online based game with no online play available. It is a very "party" oriented game with no party compatibility besides chatting and helping on boss fights, on the rare occasion that a party member is online and sees the party member is in a boss fight warning.
This game would be the bees neez item 9 if a pvp or group questing/ dungeon feature was added in an update. I am a party leader myself and everyone in my party feels the same way. There is about 10 of us. We chat quite frequently but wish there was gameplay where we could all be together.
I hope that this is being discussed amongst the company and creators and look forward to it coming to be.
But overall great game! Do not sleep on this app!

This game is not only great for long time KH fans, but for people looking for just a fun game to pass the time. The combat is simple yet fun, fast paced yet tactical, and there is so much diversity. Most games have you playing on the same board or map forever, while this game has 500 main mission levels, tons of events, daily quests, competitions between factions, and many more main mission levels to come. The story is decent, nothing to special tho. Also, I would just like to say I've seen some complaints about this game, let me summerize these complaints in one statement. "It's a browser game!!" Yes, it's a port of a browser game that was originally released in Japan, congrats, you've noticed an obvious fact, and what exactly does that take away from the game? I saw a two star review that was solely due to the download size and that the game was once browser based, anyways, what I mean to say is that this game shouldn't be judged by it's origins. I highly recommend you give this game a try.

What could have easily been a lack-of-effort typical cash-grab mobile companion to a beloved franchise was, instead, a seemingly perfect addition to the Kingdom Hearts series. Being both a prequel to the entire saga and a spin-off title, Unchained Chi is by far one of, if not, the best game on the iOS App Store. It not only is addicting, but it has great depth in mechanics and story. Something I would expect from Square Enix. Usually, in mobile games, we tend to see a bombardment of "purchase this! Purchase that!"; however, we instead have the micro-transactions options tucked away in the back, while the game itself is shoved into your face. I applaud Square for bringing this wonderful game over to the modern mobile platform, and I praise Disney for showing this franchise the same love they have shown for others. The best mobile game I have played in years! As for the specifics of story and gameplay...that's for you to find out. Download it!

I own every Kingdom Hearts game and I couldn't care less if I placed the series into my soul. This app is beautiful, simple, and well-made. If it doesn't transcend to your standards then go pay for a console game or make a better one. You're not critiquing if you're simply hating because I've seen a lot worse compared to this game. Global networking, communication, gaming and a great variety of features are implemented in this game. What else can they do to make this better? That's what the game designers and company would rather look on rather than all of you butthurt KH fans refuting on this app. Okay, what if they took a long time for the series to complete? Not every series are made to be completed, but this one did. This app is not to be compared with the actual game. Individually sophisticated and simplistic. If you enjoy the game, keep playing. If you're tired of the app, then that's up to you.

This game, from the very beginning with the tutorial, is very fun! I've never been able to get into mobile games even the One Piece, DBZ, and Bleach games. They were cool and a little fun at first but they were just too boring and didn't seem very true to the anime. But this really feels like Kingdom Hearts! And wow don't even get me started on that beautiful music... It keeps me so entranced in the game its ridiculous! *I RECOMMEND PLAYING THIS GAME WITH HEADPHONES* Its only been a few hours and I hope it continues to be an incredible experience. I honestly never expected it to be this good when I saw that this game was even a thing in Japan. Boy was I wrong.. Quick little "semi-review" (preview kinda). After a few more days or a week I'll probably make a better review. The fact that this is a Kingdom Hearts game should have people bumrushing the App Store for this. 10/5

The game surprised me that's for sure, my thoughts going in was its gonna be another one of those grindy stamina games with no story really, and a bunch of gachas/slots of units/cards. Well I was right. For the most part. There's a huge difference here that sets it feel compared to other games of similar functions. First off there is actually a story it takes time through the completion of quests but there IS a story that ties into the original games, also when it comes to draws its quite generous in handing out the 4*/5* medals as well as iap currency and as far as customization goes they offer you free avatar pieces that also serve as leveling boards the more you progress.

TL;DR The game is a lot more generous than other stamina games (there is no autoplay thank god) and gives you an actual story you can be drawn into if you give it time.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Kingdom Hearts. I remember playing it for days on end on my PS2 when I was in middle school. I'm now a college grad and patiently waiting for KH3 to come out. This game is the perfect little fix while I wait. It's easy to play. The mechanics are simple yet still bring that complex feel thanks to the customization of medals. If you've never played any KH games before, this is a great introduction to the franchise. You will get familiar with the overall conflict and go on a journey similar to Sora, the protagonist of KH 1 & 2. Did I mention this game is fun? I can easily play for an hour without realizing it. Another plus, it doesn't bombard you with in app purchase requests. They're there, but you don't really need them. I'm steadily progressing on my own, though I wish I earned munny faster.

If you are a kingdom hearts fan, get this game right now!

A very fun/casual game that can become very addicting if you're into collecting the strongest medals or just enjoy advancing the story or climbing the leaderboards. Graphics match well with this games theme and the action on screen is fun to watch. It's basically a "monster collecting" game, with quite a bit of options during combat.

You can also customize your characters looks, and there are a lot of original, Disney, or final fantasy/square enix costumes to unlock.

It's not as good/deep as the actual kingdom hearts games of course. But for a mobile game, it's excellent! It's about time this game came out outside of Japan! The waits been worth it!

Even if you're not into the series, give this a try, especially if you enjoy RPGs on mobile devices.

I've been playing this game for about three days straight. So far, it's awesome. (I'm on quest #90.) So far it's been what you would expect from a Kingdom Hearts game -- Disney worlds, keyblades, objectives to help newfound friends. I especially like the emphasis on 1-turn kills since that's how I normally try to level and play KH games.

However, I'm starting to run into ceilings. You only get so many Jewels per day (and for completing 10 quests or so). But if you don't get enough Lux to level up and refill your AP, you only regenerate 1 AP every few minutes -- which of course prompts you to spend Jewels (not to worry since you can BUY them). I've been purposefully holding myself back from paying money on this.

All in all, a solid Kingdom Hearts time killer so far. Beware of Freemium traps.

I adore this game, and I feel like I've become so addicted that anytime my phone is in my hand, I'm playing this game. As it is a prequel, I know what fate awaits my character, but it makes it just as fun. I'm a matter of 2 days, I have been blowing through the story and made some new friends via the party system. If I had to Change anything,it would be another way to compete with other parties instead of just points during the week. (Note im somewhere around the 70th level) if there was some way we could challenge other parties (such as how many enemies we could defeat or challenges that each member must all do to gather points) it would make it more competitive. This is a spectacular game and it's just what I need to fill that empty void while I wait for the next console game.

Okay. So I usually never EVER write reviews for any app. But this new installment in the Kingdom Hearts series blew me away. Square Enix and Disney could have easily transformed this app into a cash grab or a poorly made game. Instead, they've created a platform for hardcore Kingdom Hearts fans and casual gamers alike to enjoy the series at it's finest. The graphics are amazing and has a very cute artstyle. Also, the game's storyline delves deeper into the Kingdom Hearts world and makes it interactive and fun by letting you create your own character. The only downside I can think of is that the game takes up about 1 GB of space, which is quite a lot if you don't have much space to spare. Seriously though, I think it's worth it to give this game a try. I know I'm already addicted!

I was scared at first to see what the game would be. It could have been another candy crush remake, diner dash, Tetris, Clash of Clans or a ripoff of some other classic game, but it wasn't! Thank god Disney did something right, doing justice to this great video game franchise. I love this game. It definitely has the old school vibes with a bit of freshness because you can customize your character and keyblade and also join a party. It's defiantly easy enough for those who don't know the series to grab onto and fall in love with as well, like I did when the first game came out. Also it's not one of those games where you have to constantly swipe your card if you want to get anywhere. I would recommend getting the game now though to get the extra prizes because it's a new release.

I see a few reviews saying that the game gets really difficult and the only way to advance is by spending money for jewels to buy medals.

I don't agree. I've been playing the game since a day after it was released and I've spent a total of $0. The medals that you receive from quests can be upgraded to full strength which will aid in advancing the higher levels.

In addition, there have been numerous special events and bonuses which reward you with rate and strong medals.

I would love to spend hundreds of dollars to buy the elite medals and max out my inventory, but that is not reality for most people.

With a little of patience you can get really far. Just keep plugging away. Out of the dozen of games I play this one and Pokemon Go are the 2 that I visit everyday.

I've been waiting for a new Kingdom Hearts game for a while now as many other KH fans can agree. Although Unchained X has been available online in Japanese, I've waited since the announcement for it to be on iOS, and I am not disappointed! Just like all the games before it, Unchained X introduces a new way to play as a Keyblade Wielder, and it's fun & easy to understand. Gameplay is smooth so far and, although the plot is not very detailed at the beginning, the plot still gives that KH feel and tone. AND THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IS JUST If you're a Kingdom Hearts fan, this game lives up to it's name for a mobile device game. If you're new to Kingdom Hearts or want to get into it, this game is a PERFECT start! 10/5!

I originally played the browser version of this game and comparing them it seems like the original was just a test run for this. The art work for the game is amazingly beautiful! The game play is fun and easy to master. No long wait times for AP to recharge meaning no waiting around for hours to complete missions. Outfits constantly unlock to personalize you avatar. Daily quests that have you earn munny or materials for medal and Keyblade upgrades. Competitive play to be the best while helping others on your team to beat boss battles! I absolutely love this game! I've been pretty much playing it non stop sense it became available! The original was so-so but this one is great! So looking forward to updates and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and 3.

I've been waiting for this game for so long and it's FINALLY here!!! I love Unchained so much, the gameplay is easy (although I'm sure it will get harder as the story goes on) and it's different than all the other Kingdom Hearts games. However since it's a phone game it works. (Needless to say, I love this app). However there is one problem. The game crashes a lot. It's not too bad since I can just click the game again and it takes me back EXACTLY to where I was when the crash happened , there is no experience lost or anything. It's just slightly annoying so if that is fixable, that would be great. Otherwise, I LOVE the game and I will probably waste the rest of my life playing it. XD

I have to say, for a mobile game, Sqaure Enix sure have outdone themselves. I believe this is Square Enix's golden year as they start releasing their best productions yet. With FFXV and KH3 coming out soon, they sure building up a hype.

Now this game is truly awesome! I first had my doubts of how the gameplay was going to be but when I started playing it, it was very interactive. It's not a one tap rpg function, and rather it requires you to be more adventurous by moving around and to command your own attack and unique skills.

I don't want to spoil anymore than I have. The experience is what's worth. I recommend you to try it if you're looking for a really great mobile game.
