Many of us older users remember the days of our youth when the meteorological staff at stations was primarily one or two guys and usually some quite fetching young girls whose primary job it seemed was to look cute at the maps. While things have improved in that the staffs are very well trained top to bottom and the forecasting software and models have become similarly enhanced, it seems that the viewers are taking that for granted. That because a station yells "most accurate" that when they say an area will see a half inch of rain that they better see exactly .5", not .49 or forbid, .51.

This app is a reminder that as advanced as the technology and science has become that it's still based on modeling, probability and intuition. This app provides the direct discussion from the NWS (which most stations use for guidance in their interpretations) and allows the end user to actually see what the weather service sees as a likely outcome and where the stations work from to the products they offer the customer. I personally use this in combination with Weather Underground's app Storm, AccuWeather's app and some of the local stations to get as well rounded a picture as I can. I find that if I have concerns about incoming severe weather or excessive rainfall a well rounded bit of research helps establish best and worst case and allows me to act accordingly.

Not naming names, but A weather channel started its life educating viewers about weather, including forecasting. Over the years, they've dumbed-down their predictions from isobars and thermoclines to colorful blobs.

Deep Weather is a great source for what REAL meteorologists are observing. It allows me access to what they're seeing, so I can apply it to my decades of experience living in the area.

I know what happens when various systems move across the Plains or come off the Great Lakes, heading toward my area. Deep Weather has become my first resource for what to expect from the weather.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT if you prefer colorful graphics--this is advanced weather information, written by meteorologists FOR meteorologists. But, if you're a weather nerd, this app is a MUST HAVE!

This is a great app for you WX junkies out there who want a quick and clean way to read NWS's text weather forecasts and supporting discussions without having to go directly to the NWS web page.

In a future release, it'd be nice to have a way to save NWS stations to a favorites list.

UPDATE - Another suggestion to the developer: Please add a screen within the app listing all the abbreviations used in the NWS forecasts (which can be found in a glossary on the NWS web page). This would eliminate the need to leave the app to go look them up. Thanks!

I have a few weather apps but rely on this one when I want a little more than a brief forecast. I love the detailed descriptions of the current weather and the discussion of what is occurring around me. The discussion is updated several times a day. I've had no problems with this app. No other one like it. I really enjoy it! The only improvement I might suggest is a "key" for the abbreviations they use in their discussion.

If you're interested in the story and the science behind the weather reports, and the computer models and human thinking behind the probabilities, you should definitely be reading your local NWS forecast discussions. And if you want access to those discussions on your phone, this app does the job beautifully. The developer is responsive and friendly, and continually improves this app.

This is the definitive go to app for your weather needs. It tells you exactly how the weather is and how it's going to be by telling you what exactly is going on in the atmosphere around us. A handy glossary gives you help with the terms you might not be sure about, and I can tell you that's been a huge help for me. Thank you for a real weather app!!

This is a great app to pull forecast updates from local NWS offices, without having to navigate to that specific location's website. It's ability to identify your location and pull-up the closest NWS office is great for travelers. It is advanced stuff, so not for beginners.

This app gives you the true NWS meteorological reasoning behind the forecast. A true wx junkies, or pilots must have app, and well worth the in app upgrade! The app functions simply and is perfect every time I've ever used it. Thank you for providing us with a great app!

I use this app frequently, to do what I used to do the "long way," that is, to read the Discussion section on the NWS forecast page for my area. I would rather have an app from the NWS, to take me directly to the full page, but this is definitely the next best thing.

Provides the detailed discussion missing in most weather aps. There is always a forecast, some times it is nearly a certainty, sometimes a roll of the dice. This ap give you insight into the thinking of the forecaster and sense of the odds.

Obviously, any less than perfect feedback is coming from folks that don't know you're just chopping up the local Forecast Discussion from NWS and putting it in to a friendly GUI. Love this, love your App, THANK YOU!!!

Gets into the nitty gritty of why the weather is doing what it does. While I'm not a meteorologist I do love the science. Very informative. This app well done.

This is an excellent program to get a more in-depth update that is written in plan text and easy to read. A must have for an in depth review of trends.

So much better than any other weather app, this one gives you the raw analysis! Thorough and regular, I don't even bother with the other ones.
