So I first had the google chrome cast as my streaming device. It was terrible!!! Limited functionality, always missing the cast icon when I want to watch a different show and constantly missing device in its chrome app (even though it perfectly displayed fine in my tv). Roku has been amazing so far, no issues, easy to setup, more features, more options for watching different channels, and this app allows you to turn off your tv!! (my tv is high up and far from my room so constantly getting up to turn off my tv to go to sleep is annoying). Plus I have an iPhone so I know you guys are gonna be like get an IR remote app to turn off tv (doesn't work, already tried it).

Overall I love Roku so far! Hopefully I won't have any issues. I'll definitely write another review if I do. This app is amazing and I'm glad I only need this to view other channels instead of downloading each and everyone one like in the chrome cast. Also you can customize your setting enabling mirroring, cooling, theme changing options and more!

*Roku developer please don't mess up the Roku by giving us an update that has not been fully tested and debugged!*

I don't get what the negative complaints are about this. I have an iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 9 .3 .1. I have not had any of the issues that anyone is describing here. It's probably their Internet connection or router issue. I am an IT and network engineer. I also have a top-of-the-line router that cost $299 by Netgear, used with Cox Internet I believe it's their 30 meg connection. It's also using a Cisco or Linksys cable modem that was and also about $100. That combination alone is great for streaming. I've never had any problems with Xbox or anything else. This application works excellent. It allows you to use your phone as a keyboard to type in passwords and user IDs and so forth. I have not experienced any disconnects or anything while streaming video music or anything else. All-around this is a great app any way you look at it. Shouldn't complain it's free!

April 13, 2014: I haven't been able to use the app on my phone since the last update as per my previous review below. As a last ditch effort I thought to try deleting and re-downloading the app and now it works! So glad to have everything functioning correctly again. Since our remote broke it's much more convenient to just use the app than having to buy a new remote. Thanks Roku!

April 3, 2014: I have loved this app from the first day I set up my Roku. It's so convenient having my phone/iPod to use as extra remote. I've never had a single problem with it... that is, until your most recent update a couple days ago. Now I try to open the updated app on my phone and it crashes, every single time without fail. It's completely unusable. Thankfully I can still use the app on my iPod because I have not updated that one. I hope you'll be able to fix this glitch soon.

I love the opportunities opened with this app. I can play, pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. anything even if I am out of reach of the Roku or the tv. Great for when I listen to music or a sermon from the SermonAudio channel. Love the new randomizing feature available for music & photos in addition to being able to select folders & playlists.

This app is utterly perfect if you have only one Roku. I have two and it has difficulty switching from one to another. When I need it most for typing, I can't use the app if I have opened it just to type & just told it which Roku to switch to. This is an inconvenience & has annoyed me several times, especially when I've been in a huge hurry to pause it out of reach of my remote when the phone rings! Otherwise, I am delighted to have this app & have no doubt these little bugs will soon be long forgotten by me!

Works great! Audio was not synced when using the ear buds but it seemed to correct itself. Also the sound using the ear buds is amazing. I feel like I'm right in the theater listening to surround sound. That was the only initial problem. Otherwise, this an an excellent device to stream so many streaming services. A plus is it can be synced with my paid subscriptions to my cable channels like Showtime without paying anything extra. What's not to like. When I travel I plan to take it with me. It's a super cool device. I purchased the Premium plus. Didn't have much of a need for the Ultra.

All you should need to control your Roku from you iPhone. I like the keyboard integration for searching. Easy setup. Has a channel view for all your installed Roku apps.

One of my favorite features is the private listening mode. It streams the Roku audio to my iPhone for listening on my headphones. Have not noticed any lag or sync issues.

Consider this app before exploring other paid apps.

I lose my remote all the time so I often end up having to use my phone. It is easy to use and I can switch from my tv and the kids tv with no problem. I can even control my kids tv from anywhere in the house which is helpful if I want to turn down the volume. It is very helpful and I love it.

The Roku stick simply the best smart TV. Simple form factor fits anywhere. The remote is simple. The app provides full control and a great Wirelss headset.

I like that you can listen private with this app I have the roku express and the remote don't support it but the app dose so great app for me.

Responsive, fast. Super convenient when my toddler keeps hiding the tiny Roku remote in the cushions. Private audio is good as well.

It works better than my Roku remote - and now that my cats have destroyed the original remote, it is a great replacement.

Works great and is easier to use than the original remote. The touchscreen keyboard helps a lot with text boxes. :)

There will be times where it will not connect and the tv is powered on already. But majority of the time it works.

idk y people saying it's slow.. it works good. i use it when i can't find my actual remote & they work the same

Great app for the tv! Don't have to hook up phone any other way than just download app. Easy!!!
