Google翻訳あれば大丈夫しょ。iPadも重いし消しちゃおうと考えて一回消しました。私は日本住み外国人だから翻訳アプリも必要だけどやっぱ翻訳アプリだけじゃ辞書にしか出来ない事は調べれないんだと思ってまた入れました。評価4.7で殆ど⭐️5でダウンロード人数千ぐらいしかないと怪しんでいるあなた！このアプリを怪しんでダウンロードしない人は損すると私はキッパリ言えます。因みに私はサクラじゃないです！消しちゃってから翻訳アプリのみで勉強していた私は不便で後悔もしていました。サクラぽい言い方になちゃうけど私は是非このアプリをお勧めします！

Wonderful Japanese dictionary. Totally free. No ads at all!
You can search by Japanese (romaji), English, or handwriting which is very useful if you can “draw” the kanji based on what you see, but cannot pronounce the word.
The bookmark and flash card also come very handy. You can group your bookmarks (the words) and create flash cards to review them.
The only concern I have is that there is no way to export the bookmarks. Hope this could be added in the next version.

You can type in romaji, hiragana, or kanji; or even write the kanji down by hand.

My favorite feature is the partial search, so that you can put in a whole sentence and it will detect all the words in it.

The only wish I could ask for is more customization in the flash card feature. Would be nice to have an option to show the English/Japanese example sentence in the card.

But hey, it's ad-free, has a proper iPad support (meaning it looks good on Mac as well), plus it syncs your bookmarks to iCloud. I would literally pay for an app like this, yet it's free!

PS: great update! Can we get to pick the theme's accent color? Also, it would be great if when searching we could use both 全角 「？」and 半角 「?」 Thanks for the great work!

I am just updating to mention that there's a bug in the dark mode that when nothing is selected in the left the right panel looks white even on dark mode. This can probably only be seen in fresh installs by going to the dark theme without searching for anything first.

I would recommend this app to everyone who are studying Japanese
You can use this app in some many ways.
You can use it as a dictionary.
You can use it with learning new kana and Kanji.
It even has vocabulary and kanji for JLPT.
You can make flashcards to learn Kanji or vocabulary.
And you can make bookmarks for different categories and then save there the new word or kanji that you learn.
This app has helped me so many times.

I love this app. It is simiilar to the other apps in the app store, but I love the comprehensive tenses of the verb, which is a staple in Nihongo. I think it is perfect for people like me who are beginners in the language.

I also love the kanji handwriting recognition. Always comes handy.

Furthermore, the developer was so kind to respond to my request to release it in M1 Mac, as I can only use it in iPhone and iPad before.

And above all, I can't believe this app is free.

I use this jisho both in ipad and iphone. Have no problem towards the content (in fact it is the best digital jisho I've ever had!!) but for the ipad version、there's still bugs that makes my screen froze after I searched some words... I had to close and reopen everytime I want to use it.

But the content is so far the best! They really up to date and even have slangs in it. Also the translation is easy to understand. I love it and I always use it on daily basis

Recently the ui has changed for the worse. Before, when looking up a word in english, the japanese kanji and hiragana would be displayed in green. Now it’s all black.
It’s a lot harder to distinguish at a glance now.
I would like to he able to change it back to how it used to be.

Apart from that, the functionality of the app is great, and thats the most important part, which is why I’m giving it 5 stars.
I just really dislike the recent ui changes.

One year ago I moved to Japan and am currently attending a Japanese high school. However having lived abroad for my entire life till now, my Japanese is not good at all and I especially need help with Kanji. This app is literally my life-saver! I can use it offline and it has almost all words, shows the stroke order of kanji’s and several different meanings of a word. Without this app I couldn’t survive high school here. I highly HIGHLY recommend it.

I’ve tried many apps for kanji, vocabulary, grammar, etc. This has everything you need to study. You can use it offline, search kanji by English, kana, or even by drawing it yourself if you don’t know how its read. You can make notes on each entry, which is especially useful once you need to take note of subtleties and nuances.

The color-scheme isn’t the best, but WHATEVER, this app is amazing. Just download it

I’ve been using this app since I got my iPhone. It’s been a great asset in helping me to learn not only vocab but kanji as well. It’s multifaceted and has multiple learning options for different skill levels of Japanese. The best part about this in my opinion is the fact that it’s completely accessible offline. If you need a good app for learning Japanese or a quick tool for reference, this is the app for you!

I’ve tried various dictionary’s by far I’ve really love this one you can do kanji games flashcards it’s really wonderful.
you can write the kanji if you don’t know the pronunciation. You can also find the stroke order very easily.
I would say I use this every day!
You can write in English you can write in Romaji it’s amazing. I love it. it makes my life so much easier living and studying in Japan

This is the best dictionary app I’ve ever used. I don’t have to mess around with in-app purchases and it even has flash cards for JLPT—all at your finger tips for free. I go to this app for almost anything. I especially love that it’s pretty up to speed with slang! It’s been the most helpful supplement to learning Japanese and I 10/10 would recommend this to anyone!

This saves my life to be honest with you. It has a most things you’d want from a dictionary.

I’d just say differentiate actual used words from words that people rarely use and maybe casual and formal words.

Time I’ll search a word and get something but when I search the same word in google translate I’ll get a completely different one.

Other than that I love it!

the app is so good in my opinion, but the only thing is you should add feature that can search notes, it is not search the kanji you have been noted, but search the notes you have written. for me that often make notes for the kanji with the corresponding words in my language it would be very useful.

but i think overall the application is the best Jisho.

I downloaded this dictionary as a backup because the one I used to use wasn’t updated for iOS 11. I’ve ended up using it ever since!

This one is SO much better!!! I'm really glad I found it. It's easy to use, has jump facilities and a lovely clear typeface. I'm very happy with it! Now I recommend my students to get it too as it’s so good!

I am currently learning Japanese and this app is very very helpful. It gives you the kanji, composition, words with it, examples, pronunciation and more , all that without internet. I really recommend it!
I also recommend downloading the kanji keyboard (the one that allows you to draw the kanji) in case you don’t know how is it written

Everything is perfect! But could you please make a handwriting surface a bit adjustable in size, I would like to make it bigger, it's kinda small for my fingers... And I also think for OCR there should be a button in the menu, I guess lot of people does not know about this magic feature Overall 11/10, thank you very much!!!

I think there’s no best functional app for Japanese language learners on iOS. The search system is one of the best because you can write by hand without even being stroke-order accurate, aside from typing in alphabet or kana/kanji.
The link to Jisho.org is a plus, which is one of my favorite web-based language dictionaries.
