Flumoji [Android]

Flumoji is designed to help increase awareness of the spread of flu and flu-like symptoms and educate you on how to reduce the risk of -- and help prevent -- flu infection. Your data along with other users of the app could potentially improve real-time tracking of flu through the built-in sensors on your phone. These sensors require some battery usage to be effective. However, the most recent version of the app now uses far less battery life than previous versions.

This flu season, let's outspread the flu virus with the number of Flumoji downloads. Share with your friends the unique url links generated by Flumoji and watch your Influence(za) score rise. When your friends receive your link and download the app, Flumoji keeps track of the number people you've spread the app to plus the number of friends-of-friends who also download the app. The top "Flumoji Spreaders" are presented in the leader board.

Don't spread flu, spread Flumoji!

The Flumoji study will run approximately 6 months during the flu season (Nov 2016 to April 2017). Once you join the study, the Flumoji app tracks a variety of real-time data from a user's phone in order to detect fluctuations in a user's activity levels, social levels, and general routine. These fluctuations are used to predict whether a user is experiencing flu-like outbreak. Real-time data is only collected during the flu season. Once the study is complete, the app will be removed from app store and we will cease to collect the data. To ensure data privacy, user's phone ID and facebook information are removed and stored separately from the real-time data. If you delete the app during the study, data will cease to be collected from your phone. However, the data collected prior to the app deletion will still be part of the data analysis.

Flumoji only shares a user's chosen emojis with their connected Facebook friends. Users can opt out of sharing their emojis with specific facebook friends. For a more detailed understanding of the data we collect and how we use it, please view our privacy page.
