The application emits ultrasonic sounds to mimic the sound of male mosquito wing beats. There are studies that have shown that females mosquitoes are repelled by this sound.

The research is however a little divided regarding the effect of sound to repel mosquitoes. The app is for experimental purpose and there are more than 3500 different mosquito species.
