Not only is this the best rain prediction app that I've ever used but it offers something that I've never seen in any other weather app before.

First off, most weather apps will give you an hourly forecast, some will even give you a resolution of 15 minutes but thats about it. Rain aware has a resolution of 5 minutes and I have found it to be very accurate.

You might wonder what the big deal is. The big deal is that not only will it give you a chance of precipitation in 5 minute increments but it also tells you HOW SEVERE the rain will be in 5 minute increments. I've not seen that offered by any other weather service, at least not to this degree of accuracy and ease of use. It is very easy to read and understand. At a glance you instantly know how heavy the rain is likely to be and how strong that estimation is (how confident the app is with its estimate).

I also love how you can tune the app to be very extremely sensitive if you are concerned about the lightest sprinkle, or not if you only care about substantial precipitation and don't want any false alarms. It does this by letting you adjust 3 key parameters, those parameters are precipitation intensity, confidence, and clutter filtering.

Last summer during a 4 day period every single tv weather station was warning us of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, microbursts, and tornadoes. Rain aware predicted very light rain and that is what we got, light rain. It was more accurate than the combined predictions of 3 local weather channels, and the two weather websites that I happened to check.

RAIN AWARE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY.

I had purchased another similar app last year but at least where I live it has been inaccurate to a degree where it was not dependable or useful. I took a chance and recently purchased this one in hopes that it was better. I have been using both apps over the last week frequently to compare them and find this one much more accurate. The rain clock display is a great way to, in a visual way, quickly see what going on over the next 3 hours--when it will rain and intensity. I also like how the rain table page that shows both the intensity and confidence level. The threshold and flitter settings are great too. Lastly, I had a question and reached out to the developer. Within two hours I got a detailed reply.

Forecasting weather at times can be very complex because there are so many variables that dictate conditions and some of those variables can change quickly deviating from their existing or logical patterns. None of these apps can be expected to 100% accurate all the time but I do find RainAware to impressively accurate and very useful, especially since you can tweak the settings and also see the confidence level on the rain table page. The other similar app has a lot of extra features but I find them somewhat useless because that app is not as accurate.

If you are looking for an app to answer the question of what of the chances of rain in the three hours and intensity then I highly recommend this app!

It's WELL worth the tiny amount you pay for this app. It is extremely accurate!!! I click this app FIRST...before any other weather app...and I have a lot of them. I have Friends who are meteorologist's. They even love this app!!! It's worth saying that this is the only review I have ever written for an app.

I bought this app about a year ago and I have tried it out through thunderstorms, tornadoes, light rain, hail, etc. It just works like a miracle App!!! I would buy this app even if they charged me $50 for it. It is literally saved my life. I have high anxiety driving in the rain after a major car wreck. I pulled over under an over pass and checked to see how much time was left on my current location. The app told me down to the minute that I had 15 minutes left of rain before it started to lighten up. To test it out, I set a timer on my iPhone. It was spot on...down to the minute!!! The rain started easing up and stop exactly when the app said it would. I was then able to continue my journey home safely and without any anxiety.
In my humble, yet accurate, opinion...you should buy this App!!!

This is an incredible app -- provides instant, accurate predictions of rainfall timing that you can get literally nowhere else. I bought it for us to use on my wife's iPhone, and we love it. While offering you the ability to look at a radar loop is a nice feature, what sets this app apart, and makes it most amazing, is its ability to give you accurate, constantly updated rain start and rain stop times for your exact location. The accuracy of RainAware is incredible, in my opinion; the possible uses for this app (while fishing, golfing, or just heading out to the store) seem to be endless! I highly recommend this app to anyone who has a need or desire to know when the rain will fall -- either at your specific location, OR (if you desire) at any one of hundreds of cities across the country that you can choose within the app itself. Finally, with several different ways to display the rain start/rain stop time available to you as an option within the app, you can choose the one that makes the most sense to you, and matches your personal preferences. We like the simple display that just shows the start and stop time, (and a look at the radar loop at times, as well), but they are all interesting and informative. Outstanding!

I'm writing this review because I found this app especially useful in my particular use case: I recently moved from a very rainy state to a much less rainy state, and before moving, spent four or five weeks improving my house for sale. (This was March & April of this year) It was raining about 85% of the time, so whenever the sun came out, or even when the rain just stopped, my uncle & I & a third worker would transition from working inside to working outside. Rain Aware is the only app that I've seen that attempts to provide a specific forecast for your exact location. I think it does this based on some interpretation of radar data.

Anyway, by keeping an eye on the app, we would know when it was safe to stop what we were doing, and scramble outside to work on the exterior. Also, the app provides a "countdown timer" to indicate when it will stop or start raining.

While it was not always completely accurate, it was certainly much better than any other weather app I could have used for that purpose.

I probably won't use it very much in my new location (very sunny), but during some very unpredictable/intermittent Northwest weather, this app was just awesome.

We have lots of Apps, and this one is VERY useful. It displays RAIN potential in a very well thought-out fashion. A unique method, the App "looks" at real-time RADAR Loops in your area, GPS determined, and tracks the speed of the Rain-Bands, or Weather System, converts its actual movement into TIME... so you know in Hours:Minutes, when Rain is coming in continuously-updating 3-hour window. If its already raining, the App tells you how long the Rain will continue and at what intensity, and when it will end, again "looking" at the rain-bands, or Storm Front, showing in the Radar imagery... As a Rain-Band or Storm Front is within the 3-hour window, the display will display in Hours:Minutes when to expect Rain, and the Intensity of the Rain, also calculated from the Color-Coding from the National Weather Service Doppler Radar screens. Its all entirely automated. This is the APP of the YEAR in the Weather Category IMHO. Great Job.

This little app has saved me more times than I can remember with its push notifications, especially on days when rain wasn't even expected. To be working outside with multiple hundreds of dollars of rain sensitive tools and equipment, on a pretty clear day, with no expectation of rain for the day, to receive a push notification from this little app saying that it will start drizzling in say, 12 minutes, and raining in say 17 minutes, and you look up and around and say say, "What, are you kidding me?!?" .. well, this little app has been so accurate (plus or minus just a minute or two) that I don't even think about second guessing it anymore, I just start start hurrying to get things picked up .. Great app !! .. I have already suggested it to all my friends .. it is my first go-to app for weather!!

I'm in Colorado and the weather prediction has been spot on. On the first day it was able to predict the rain storm to within a minute of the first rain drop. For that same storm, RainAware was only off by 10 minutes to when the storm was over. Subsequent predictions have been accurate as well and the three different interface screens make the information easy to read and find. This app has a little trouble predicting the very light rain, but it gets the heavier storms right. I haven't tried RainAware's suggestion to increase the apps sensitivity but that could help with the light storms. Notifications of approaching storms would be great, as would setting different cities (sites) so I could check the weather at home while I'm at work.

I've worked at NASA in climate sciences and I'm aware of the tricky nature of rain predictions. There are bets made by scientists as to exactly when rain will strike. You can often see a gang of scientists under a portico outside with their watches in hand congratulating the winner when the rain begins at the time he or she predicted. Even the slightest change can cause a great difference in the time the rain begins. I love this app because it dares to predict what is so difficult to determine exactly, and it gets extremely close, always adjusting as weather circumstances change. It is as fluid as possible and I value its sensitivity to the flux of it all. Highly recommend.

I've been using RainAware for months to determine when it's going to rain and when it's going to stop. It's become a part of my planning to support my 15 mile a day walking activity. Due to a bug when iOS 6.0 was released, I was forced to use several other apps for a few days. They didn't hold a candle to Rain Aware. I found myself having to use a combination of Dark Sky, Sky Motion and a radar app plus some mental gymnastics to determine what I get from Rain Aware by itself. I just couldn't get as complete a picture with the others as I can with Rain Aware, even when using all the others combined. Great app!

I am totally blind and use voiceover to access my phone. To my surprised amazement this app while not fully VO friendly was and is blind usable. Of course VO can't read radar maps or the wonderful intensity and confidence graphs but even through major updates and improvements the developers have left the user the options to use the app with simplified visual effects and text displays which means the app remains functional for blind users. This practice is rare and should be commended. Not to mention that the app performs as advertised in all aspects and is worth twice the asking price easily .

I first tried this app when I had a dog walking gig. As most people with dog may know, lots of dogs don't like going out in the rain. Well this app has far exceeded my expectations as it has been able to give me a realtime heads up on when the rain or snow for that matter will begin and end. I read another person's comment about how it did not work for them. I would suggest they check and adjust the settings as this may be the problem as to why the inaccuracy is occurring. I have recommended this app to many.

I like this app. Is it 100% accurate? No. But exactly what weather forecast is? None. All weather forecasting is about probabilities and error. So it might say "rain ending in 30 minutes" but the rain ends in 20 minutes. Or 40 minutes. It might start raining before the app says it is - but remember Doppler radar data is often 15 minutes behind. However if you see clouds and want to know if weather is heading towards you, it works. Pair this app with your favorite Doppler radar app and you are set!

If you're having an outdoor event or doing anything outdoors where rain would force you into a big scramble, this app is perfect for you. It is accurate on impending rain times....how long it will rain....and how hard it will rain so you can plan accordingly. If your on the lake you can see that rain will start where you are in seven minutes so you can bolt back to the dock. Or if your entertaining outside, you can get your guests inside and cover up the furniture just in time.

Great app. Purchased it then set it up while in my gazebo and it predicted when the rain would arrive. Great for out door activities when you need to know when the rain will arrive and stop. It has other displays that show when and the intensity of a rain event. This app is not just for weather geeks, anyone can use. Some times radar does not always predict the path of a storm. Living in Illinois I need to be aware of severe weather and know the paths of tornados and storms.

This app is amazing!! Not as amazing as their customer service though, that just rocks!!! This app allows me to peer 3 hours into the future and monitor for rain, cutting edge right? And the best part- it's accurate!! I had the app open last night and as it struck 0 seconds I could hear the pitter-patter of raindrops on my windows, and radar confirmed my findings- an app that will be on my home page for a long time, most likely for my iPhone's life. Please buy!!!!

This app has been very accurate for me.

+ radar images load quickly and are usually only a minute old
+ accurate for me here in the Minneapolis area
+ you can adjust the clutter (and other things) filtering to better fit your area
+ I can see the rain prediction by time and intensity via a couple display options.

- closest weather station to my home is 19 miles (doesn't seem to affect anything other than current conditions being a bit off).

This app is truly positive addition to all the other weather apps available. The proximity indicator is one of my more likable features. The black background on map view is the perfect contrast to the approaching storm system. I particularly recognize the benefit to the longitude and latitude identification as it gives a more defined location to your property. Thank very much for this app which is very reasonably priced for the effort involved.

Had to say I was skeptical at first an app could deliver what they advertised. So I decided to take a chance an give them a try.
So I have to admit when I saw the app predict it will start raining at my location in one minute I went outside with stopwatch in hand and believe it or not it stared to rain exactly as stated.
I was blown away and honestly knew I had to leave an review that yes this app was as ADVERTISED...

Downloaded this app just to try it out. Since I'm a weather nut, I've certainly paid more for wx apps... This app is on the money! Once it nails down your long. & lat. it is accurate within literally. Just for kicks and giggles, I've actually tested it with a stop watch. It said rain would start in 22min, so I started the stop watch.. in 21min 27sec the first raindrop fell. Pretty impressive!
