Surprising Depth, Complexity

This is probably the most complex Kairosoft title released on iPhone yet -- not in that it's difficult to play, but rather in that there are more layers of things going on at once, and it's more difficult to unlock all the special characters and other goodies.

On the surface, the gameplay appears to be similar to the recently-released Oedo Town, but Venture Town requires more finesse and therefore would seem to also have more retail value.

In an environment packed with freemium games that make players wait for energy to refill or constantly pester them to make in-game purchases with real cash, Kairosoft titles are a welcome change -- pay your coins up front and play offline by yourself for as long as you want. I applaud them.
