Slacker Radio [iPhone]

Ok, sure like everyone else when I updated to os4 on my touch it stopped after a few songs... because of my settings, silly! You have to disable auto-lock etc. Maybe people did that, but honestly, I find on a lot of apps people really don't want to do any work at all to customize, which in this case is a shame, because this version really works better than all the previous ones. Smoother, etc.

Compared to pandora and I-heart-radio, slacker is so far superior it's not even funny. I do mean for music that is relevant to what you request, and other than the same songs looping on the radio. I

This works much like the early days of Pandora, where it compares musician's styles and offers similar artists to consider. Where it really excells is in being able to find many of the more obscure artists that I like. It even had bands like "Kinghorse", a local band from my teen years that I used to hang out with, as well as many rare underground, early-80's punk and even obscure niche styles like "Nurse With Wound", "Sonic Youth" and "PJ Harvey"!

Love the featured radio stations. Love how I can turn off explicit songs. I also love the personalization for individual radio stations. You can tell how thought through it is. I left Slacker for almost a year and used Apple Music and Tidal for several months. While those services have exclusive albums, when I select a song to create a station with, the results were terrible. For example; I selected a song from Nas' debut album, from 1992, to be used as a basis for a station. All the music I got afterward were current pop rap hits.
