...why all of the bad reviews for this app. I think some reviewers are confused by Xfinity TV verses Xfinity TV to Go. Two different apps and two different purposes.

We recently switched to Xfinity X1 primarily for the increased Internet connection speeds, and in the course of exploring the new X1 capabilities I downloaded Xfinity TV. After poking around and watching Velocity for an hour and a half, I am impressed. On an iPhone 5 connected with a Zoom 5363 modem/router, the full screen image was critically sharp and the delivery was seamless. And closed captioning was even available! The on-screen controls are basic, but elegant in their simplicity. It occurred to me that use of the controls was easier than those of the "real" TV's remote. Very intuitive, absolutely no learning curve. Performance on an iPad was similarly excellent and recorded programs played back as if they were live. Xfinity TV is an unexpected pleasure and I recommend it without reservation.

We just recently switched to Xfinity for our internet, television and phone, and I must say this app has been the go-to app for looking at television while away from the television, or when the tv is occupied by someone else. Xfinity has nailed the television experience on the iPhone by allowing users to view channels on mobile devices!

The ability to see a typical listing of channels, and being able to not just turn to them and watch the live feed (which matches the look and feel of the tv interface), but also be able to look at other listings while the live feed is going on is a definite plus! Of course, for this to be effective, Blast Internet (75MB speeds) or higher is preferred (which is what we have), which makes the experience seamless thus far. Until Apple comes out with their television solution (along with the collaboration of all the developers, many of which can be "iffy" at times), this is THE solution to date.

(Trouble shooting details below) I am going to start this off by saying this app is AMAZING. Comcast has done what should be a norm in 2014, being able to use your tablet, phone or laptop as an additional viewing monitor! The honest truth it was very difficult getting the app to work after getting the x1 box in Chicago, after countless calls and lost hours with tech support I bring to you the most important information that seems to get lost in translation. MAKE SURE THE CLOUD FEATURE IS ACTIVATED ON THE X1, seriously that is the only thing that impeded the use of the app. Make sure you go through the sales department, they activate it tell you to turn off the set top for 10 seconds and bam your done. Enjoy your tv stream anywhere in your house or yard with this great app!

I am having the same problem as 3467plod describes. When watching a recorded show, the app freezes every 5 minutes or so. The only way to recover is to remove the app from memory. The app is great in concept, but it is unusable for watching recorded shows.

Update: I have changed my rating from 1 star to 5. Called xfinity help desk and we found a fix. I had logged into the app using the account I use for all the xfinity apps, but it was not the original Comcast email account. After logging in with the original Comcast email account, all the freezing experiences disappeared.

I've read some of the negative reviews and I just don't get it. I've heard you can browse networks -yes you can. I've heard the video is small and doesn't fill screen - yes it does. I've heard so many negative reviews from people that obviously don't know how to use the app. It is apparently a problem with user error not a problem with the app. The big improvement with this app is that you can multitask and watch TV in a small video box while using other applications on the iPad. This is a GREAT feature. I use this app every single day and it has worked flawlessly so far.

I'm updating my rating to 5 stars. Last night I was sitting on the patio watching recorded and live TV on my iPad. Pretty neat I think. I can even carry my iPhone around the yard listening to news shows. I wonder if the problems some are having are because of weak wifi signals. I bought a state of the art Arris modem so I don't have to pay Comcast a rental fee and a Netgear Nighthawk AC router. I get a great wifi signal with those all around the house and my small yard so am enjoying Xfinity TV everywhere.

I've had issues with this app before. First people it has to be available in your area. 2nd you need to have X1 boxes. Then you have to call X1 division and get it turned on then log in and go for it. I watch everything on my ever at work. Was just watching judge Judy on train. I don't know why people have so much trouble with this app it's the best thing since apple pie. If you can't get it to work open a case with comcast. They will fix it. It's the best app ever made!!! Comcast rules.

It took a while to get all the functionality, I.e. I was missing the ability to download shows and watch them remotely, but once that came the app is amazing. The streaming works in my home flawlessly. The downloads have worked every time time and with the recently added support for multitasking on the iPad Air 2 I couldn't be happier with the product.

My only pain point is that I would like to be able to plug it in via hdmi or ideally to stream to my Apple TV via AirPlay.

I feel bad for the people having all the issues with this app. Just got X1 hooked up last week and really, really like it! I have had no issues with this app. It has been working wonderfully. The only thing I wish I could do easily is search On Demand by genre. I found it once but couldn't find it again. I hope everyone will get their problems resolved.
Update: 4 months in and still working great!! I am loving Comcast again. Pure enjoyment.

Xfinity does a way better job than Cox Cable, DierctTV, etc. I agree this app has a few bugs and I had to remove the app and re-download to get it to work. I lost all my downloads and my recordings aren't updated away from home even though I'm online. However, I've experienced far more problems with other companies and I can at least download some recordings and skip the commercials.

I was surprised to find out that Comcast had a TV device app that I could utilize instead of using Vulkano. I use Comcast App because it's a better connection and more choices and I like that. But I haven't got use to the app, yet, but I have a problem or issue with changing the channel. It should be a better way or an update for the app so we can change the channel better.

Initially had problems with constant freezing and buffering when using my IPad Pro, on my back porch. My router is on the other side of the house. Solved the problem by plugging in a Netgear Range Extender. Now the app works perfectly. The problem was never with the app, but with my wifi. 5 stars for the app, 3 stars for Xfinity for not giving me stronger wifi system.

The guide feature is great! Also, the history feature holds the live TV history, so you can go back to a previously viewed live channel, unlike before where you'd only see on demand content. Best of all, it has picture in picture! I can now exit the app and keep the video in a small box. Perfect for watching live games.

After reading the reviews I wasn't going to even try this app. However I'm glad I did. I'm an X1 customer for four days. I downloaded the app, entered my Comcast sign on info and was watching live tv on my iPad while enjoying the sunset from my deck. No issues, no delays, no freezing. Works for me!

Honestly the application works very well. No bugs, no glitches, nothing. Great visual appearance and overall very appealing. It might not work if your internet speeds aren't fast (I would say 50+Mbps) or if you aren't on your home network. I suggest downloading this application if you own a X1 box.

Whatever Comcast did to their app over the last week or so has worked. No more freezing and skipping. Everything works great! This is now the app I always use and have always loved!! A+++
Only thing I did different is reset all of my cable boxes in my home.

After all the negative reviews I was surprised to find that it works on both my iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5s. It gives me all my channels on my home Wi-Fi, but only a few select channels when I am away from home. This is a matter of content licensing and not a fault with the app.

So far so good. It's behind live tv a minute or so but I get to watch from my iPad now. I won't miss any games if I'm under the house working or in the garage.

I'm very critical...... Customer service people usually end up wishing bad things for me...... Lol. No, really....

Usually Comcast let's me down but I believe credit should be given when it is due and they have done a very nice job with this app! It would be nice if more channels were available to stream while away from home network but all in all this is a great app!

Works great on my iPhone 5 and Galaxy S5 over wifi. Just like having another TV/cable box. Finally Comcast is starting to catchup in the TV streaming game. No blackouts as far as I can tell. Bravo
