I LOVE this app. It is not possible to overstate this. My library system uses a couple of different audiobook collections like Hoopla (specifically Overdrive) and I can't stand the other alternatives. The materials you want are never readily available, you sit on waiting lists for months, and then they don't notify you properly if it's ready and don't let you renew it if you're not finished because there are other people on the months-long lists. With Hoopla I can find what I'm looking for and download it instantly if they carry it, I can get recommendations based on author, genre, or what other readers also checked out when reading this book, I can listen IMMEDIATELY, and I can renew with the touch of a button. And it stores my reading history long after I've returned the download, so I can look the book back up if I want to recall something, or check out old favorites over again. My only possible complaint would be that, like all of these types of systems, they obviously don't carry everything you're looking for every time... But it is a wonderful accompaniment to my local library, and if I'm between books there or on a waiting list for materials to come in I can always find something on hoopla to listen to immediately in the intervening time. LOVE. THIS. APP.

If I knew someone on a budget looking to he rid of cable or Netflix, this is the first app I'd recommend. The only catch is that you have to have a library card... WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE ANYWAY people, lol. Come on now.

Anyway - using Hoopla in addition to Netflix I can see just about any recent movie release imaginable; there's content available through Hoopla that none of the streaming providers ever even get (because they're digitized versions of physical copies owned by the library).

Further, let's talk music: recently an album came out by an artist if been following but I wasn't sure if I just wanted to spring for it without hearing first... Enter Hoopla. Checked it out and was able to listen to it a few times before deciding I did indeed want to purchase - thanks Hoopla!

In the end, I tend to think the negative reviewers are either a little naive or have ridiculous expectations. But that never happens on the App Store does it?

I was one of the holdouts to reading e-books listening to audiobooks… It just didn't seem to me to be like the real experience of reading a hardcopy book. Boy was I wrong! I don't have to worry about getting any stains on the rebooked, and the audiobooks can keep me entertained for hours while I'm doing other things. I get the same pleasure out of the now as I used to get out of the hardcopy books. And a lot of times of hoopla I get very recent books or audiobooks. Don't hesitate to sign up… The site is easy to access and easy to use. I highly recommend the site. One thing I would say was confusing to me at first is that a book could be in hoopla but I couldn't access it then I realized that my library paid for certain amount of books e-books audiobooks movies and they want the same in every library .but that's a small thing to me. Try it you won't be disappointed

Hoopla is the only app I know of that provides genuinely free audiobooks with no strings attached. (Also movies and ebooks, but I mostly use audiobooks.) You can borrow up to 10 items per month, which is more than I've ever needed, and the selection is really good! It's not just randos. Their recommendations are good too; I have enjoyed books I would otherwise not have heard of. It automatically returns items at their due date, so there are no late fees. I highly recommend this app for anyone looking to read or listen to more books without spending any money.

There are a few bugs, but the benefit of hoopla *far* outweighs them, hence 5⭐️s. Sometimes I can't get the audio to start after a pause, but I just quit the app and then reopen it and it works just fine. The developers have done a good job of squishing several bugs.

The idea of Hoopla has always been fantastic. However, up until recently it's been plagued with bugs and untested new editions since the very beginning. I feel that Hoopla is finally all leveled up now and stepping out on to the great stage of entertainment and able to perform beautify without falling or embarrassing itself or giving me any further reason to curse and pull my hair out.
Audiobooks stop, start remember their place and can be controlled from the lock screen. No crashes.
Comic books look amazing with their pans and zooms.
Ebooks are great.
Searching is intuitive and accurate.
I'm proud of the developers for finally dialing it in and giving us a wonderfully conceived and fully realized app that offers the best of what libraries can offer.

I am really liking this app. Before you judge it know that daily limits and check out rules are NOT dictated by the app. The app merely follows your local library's lending rules. If you want to check out more items I suggest you complain to your library not Hoopla.
I love being able to check out digital media anytime. If I find something that isn't to my taste I can return it with no penalties. My local library counts how many items you have checked out by month and doesn't care how many times you check things out. Ten items in one day is fine if you have the monthly space to get them. If you have a good library then this app will be great for you!

I've fallen in love!! This app which is provided by my county's library budget is one of the best apps you download to better your mind and life. Everything on the books and audio books works really well. The audio plays without cracks or skips. There is a built in ebook reader. The bookmarks work really well and are easy to reference to find exactly which one you need. I do not use the video side of this app so I can't comment on that section. My only complaint is even when you return a book or audio piece you don't another for the month. You have a certain number you can checkout and that's it. Great app for the young better you and me.

So, if you reviewed this application as not working there might be a few things wrong.. Either you don't have fast internet, your device is not up to date with the latest software, or the memory on your device is full to the point that it can't download anything, like a full fridge, clean it Out! Also, if your library doesn't offer good selections, or doesn't offer support for hoopla at all. You will not be able to use it! Works, great! I can watch movies, tv shows, and I found out that hoopla for my library does not support the audio book feature! Yay! Win win on free rental of movies! And shows! Thank you local library's!

I love reading and books, even if your not a fan of reading this app is great because there are movies and comics and music. This app offers many titles in Audiobook form that are not even available at barns and nobles (bioshock rapture I'm looking at you!) are available here! The app works beautifully with my phone without a single glitch or error. This app also offers a wide variety of titles, evens setting for kids if your a parent (don't let that 17+ fool you). My only complaint is, it doesn't tell me (or I'm just to stupid to figure it out) when the end of my month is… I'm a book junky what can I say…

This is the greatest. There are minor blurry instances but for a free streaming, who can complain?!(mostly happens if you keep forwarding or rewinding). Also, it would be great to stream an unlimited number but I guess I need the limitation. Also, pretty cool choices available, you won't find everything thinkable but there are some amazing choices available as well. I totally recommend this to all of my friends. It's also pretty great to not have to remember about turning stuff in at the library and risking the fees I'm always most likely to receive.I say you should get it!!

My library system offers hoopla for free and I use it non stop. I am an avid reader but after eye surgery I was unable to do so. It was such a blessing to be able to listen to audio books. The titles offered are endless - I never have trouble finding something to listen to and the customer service is great. I had an echo once while listening. I contacted customer service and instead of the usual pre-recorded answer I received a personal email with a quick fix and then a follow up making sure it worked. I am a big fan and recommend hoopla!!

I can't believe how much I use this app. I'm on it all the time. Be it listening to audiobooks in my car, reading graphic novels on lunch breaks, taking ebooks on vacation, streaming videos at home, it's probably my most used app. It's been very good at remembering where I leave off, has an intuitive interface, offers a great selection, and items are always available. What's not to love? My only real complaint is that I hardly ever make it into my physical library anymore because this app makes so much available at my fingertip. Great app!

I've always loved the library- but with the digital revolution I was afraid it would lose relevance. I was over the moon to see that with Hoopla they keep up with my iPhone, tablet and computer! I watch documentaries my friends miss because they're not library members, I listen to all
Sorts of new music and I'm able to avoid road rage (I live in LA people please!) with audio books that entertain me and teach me things.

I couldn't be happier and with Hoopla I get more out of my library than ever before!

I love having a library at my fingertips and able to "read" (listen to) something everywhere I go! Makes me feel so productive. My amazing library allows me to borrow 15 a month! The selection Hoopla has is amazing. They even had a brand new album I wanted to try before I decided I want to buy it or put it on my Christmas list. :> It keeps track of my books very well and I've only had one issue where it started a book over but I think it was my fault and I was able to fast forward to where I was.

I love Hoopla! I use it all the time to listen to audio books and watch movies. I especially love that I can download the media to my device so that I can watch or listen without using data. I've recommended it to so many people, and even took the liberty of installing it on my 67 year old mother's smart phone. As easy as the app is to use, I think that even she can figure it out! I never take the time to write reviews, but for Hoopla, I am willing and happy to write a rave review! Fantastic!

I love this app! Between the Hoopla and Overdrive apps offered by the library I will never run out of audiobooks! The selection offered on Hoopla alone is fantastic, from the cheesy romance novels I love to books I need to read for my university classes. The app is user friendly and pleasing to look at, the only thing I might change would be the search function - I wish I could do more narrow searches than the app currently allows. Otherwise, it's a brilliant app and I highly recommend it!

free audiobooks...movies...music etc. etc. and excellent choices. No more standing in the library for hours trying to select books when I could be sitting at home in my comfy chair doing the same thing. I also get audio books for my Mother, so instead of me choosing her books at the library I can go to her house and she can pick her own audio books with my help. I wish I could check out more per month, but I am so grateful for the app and really grateful for the time I save. Thank you

Hoopla is quite good. The selections are varied and easy to check out and access. I do agree that audio books need tabs or chapter numbers. Also, occasionally audio books lock the app. To reset, I must power off the phone or iPad, which doesn't happen as often after the last update. It was also be nice if materials could be checked out for 10 days rather than 7. Nonetheless, Hoopla is by far the best library app available.. I have never had to place something on hold like Overdrive.

I travel on Amtrak, which unless you are in the Acela corridor, has no wifi. I download audiobooks, movies and music to my iPad so I can entertain myself for the 19 hour trip from Florida to North Carolina. Electrical outlets at every seat so no rationing my battery. Very user-friendly and glitch fee so far. I rely heavily on public libraries, but this app is almost too good to be true. Excellent selection and flawless performance; ten stars.

Excellent way to stream the library! I can borrow as many as 20 items currently. I am happy with the "heart" feature where new books or other favorite items would pop up in the recommended section. Love using the audiobooks since I can read and crochet or do other things that free up my hands. I had no problem with opening an account several months ago and was very happy when the number of items I could borrow rose from 8 to 20 items.
