I think a user's experience with Patch varies by area as each neighborhood has a different editor. Our content (Norcross, GA) is always super local and informative with an occasional regional update. Our editor keeps us informed of home sales stats, cit hall meetings, upcoming events, recipes with local food sources, etc. I even won a contest by guessing where a heavily cropped photo was taken in town and received all kinda of cool Patch paraphernalia.

If it weren't for patch, I wouldn't have learned today that we have noise ordinance that prohibits mowing the lawn or using power tools outside before 7am or after 10pm. Good to know!

As for the app, it's slick and easy to use. I connected with my Facebook account and am glad to have Patch in my pocket.

Patch popped up in my area last summer and has taken the town by storm. They always have the latest local news- I love the Breaking News alerts... So anyway, I was admiring the mobile site longing for an app and the next week! Here it is!!! It's so great I actually got tingly the first time I opened it.

I have very, very few apps installed on my iPhone, and I like it that way. In the case of Patch, I read the site often enough that had a bookmark for it on my phones home screen. But I hated having to go to Safari every time to read the site. The Patch mobile app is fast, smooth, modern-looking, and makes creative use of gestures and nudging data on the screen to get more articles to load, etc. Definitely a keeper.

This app is so excellent, I can't believe it. Full articles, colors, photos, maps etc. I wish our Chicago papers had this good of an app. For a group of local papers, I am absolutely astounded. Great job!

I read the reviews about crashing. I just tried it for the first time and also have iOS t installed and so far so good. It is very responsive with no crashes. Maybe iOS 5 has helped the crashing problem.

I am on this website everyday at work looking at the news in my town and I am so glad they made a mobile app. It's user friendly and has an attractive and appealing theme. The news is up to date and really appeals to the people reading the patch.
