I've tried a lot of different apps and this one is by far the easiest and best looking in my opinion. It let me upload my company logo direct from camera roll and put it on the invoice. Other apps make you log into the computer and make a template and jump through 10 hoops just to add a logo.
For me, when I'm at the customers house I type in the scope of the job and add one lump sum. They agree to it and then sign it right there on the spot using my iphone6 and email it to them right then. When they open the email it tells you, no more " I never got your email" crap.
I think a cool feature that I saw on another app that was used for time keeping that could be added to this would be the ability to record the actual time spent on the job so you could see if your estimates are priced right. This other app let you type in and address and then set a proximity radius to it. Every time you entered or left that radius it recorded the time spent there. At the end of the job it tells you how many hours you were there, how long you left for etc. That would be awesome.
Sure they could add other features that would make it even better but it still gets 5 from me right now.

This app surpasses all others that I have tried using previously. I haven't had a single issue or problem making sending or customers receiving estimate or invoice documents. There are many different options that can be input or removed from the document that fits your needs. No other invoice or estimate app has the same if not less much less to offer than joist does and free of charge! You will not find another app that offers what Joist offers with the same performance, that is free of charge. Trust me, I've tried them all and Joist out does the rest by far! I'm actually preparing to be told one day that it will no longer be free but cost a monthly fee or yearly membership but I never have spent a penny on the app and it's helped me make thousand with the time I save using Joist. Don't waste time trying any other app. Time is money, just start with the best and you won't regret it!

From the moment I started using this app, I knew my struggle to manage the financial aspect of my business was over. I had spent and wasted so much time and energy on trying to create an estimate template and a invoice template. First in Word, then Excel. I tried searching (on numerous occassions) for a ready made template, but everyone I downloaded was bloated with "extras" that I didn't need or would never use. With Joist, I can create an estimate and with 2 taps, the estimate morphs into an invoice. I started using Joist the way it came, but quickly found that I could customize Joist easily. I can even dowlnload all my information to Excel, modify it and then upload it back to the Joist cloud. If i'm tired of tapping my iPhone, I go to my laptop and access Joist (and my info) from the web. I no longer have to spend hours doing paperwork. Joist is it for me!

Best invoicing app ever! It's easy to set up and even easier to use. The developer says it's designed for contractors, but it can be used for literally any type of business. For example I operate a car detailing company and it is so simple to select and add a different packages and items for quick billing. I recently discovered you can log on to a laptop or desktop for quick printing of invoices you make on an iPad or iPhone if you don't have a wireless printer. I used to make the invoices on my iPhone and iPad and then email them myself to print which wasn't that big of a deal, but it will be even easier now! Don't think twice about downloading this app, if I can recall it's FREE and will save so much of your valuable time. Similar apps require subscriptions and have limits on free versions. This one has it all for nothing!

It's really nice that it's free, I would of paid $20 for this app without hesitation. I was using old estimating software on my windows computer for years and it was out of date. Now I bought a Mac, iPhone and iPad and this free apps works seamlessly with all 3. I literally just made a estimate on my phone at the job site, went to my truck opened my iPad and it was already on the app. I printed out the estimate in my truck, (wireless printer using my phones hotspot as wifi) gave it to the homeowner, he agreed, wrote me a check, I had him sign the estimate on my iPad and I emailed it right over it him. He appreciated how professional it was and getting it done right in the spot instead of waiting a few days. This is the best free app for contractors. If you want to pay $20, use construction cost estimator.

Joist has now become our go to app for estimating and invoicing. The ability to create estimates and invoices on the fly has decreased the amount of time I spend working on them at home or at the office. It’s easy now to put together a quick, professional proposal for my potential clients and they appreciate not having to wait to receive it. I have won jobs simply by quickly providing them with the information they requested and then asking for the business on the same visit.

The only thing I would love to see is a payment gateway like PayPal or Square integrated in the system. With that, the Joist app would be complete! Still getting 5 stars for a great tool that does what it says it will do AND for the amazing support from Marc and the guys in the office. Keep up the good work!

I work in a sales capacity for a local contractor who employs a 5 man crew. I found Joist when I was searching for an easier method of getting bids and invoices to clients. I started using it just for bids at first but quickly realized we could use it for much more so we began having all the guys send their bills using Joist as well. Now it's our go to app for professional bids and it is also our sole billing/invoicing tool. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try. It has all kinds of customization so you can add in your contract and even has an easy interface for getting signatures right on your smart phone. We don't have a bunch of paper floating around our trucks anymore and are much more organized and professional in our presentation to clients. Well done Joist team!

The best app for sending estimates and invoices to my Home improvement customers, I complete a job, I list everything I did I then attach pictures of what I did and finally I sign the invoice and submit. I've customized my invoices to show all my info as well as my company logo. The invoices are indeed professional, I feel that this one app has made my company appearance at a new level, I'm looking forward to this app being tied to a way to accept credit cards so I don't have to ask for Paypal or checks. I love it but my customers are now impressed! This Joist team is taking my input for improvement seriously and they are quite responsive, this app is all I need for invoicing and tracking payments.

I just started using this app upon the recommendation of another contractor and quickly saw the great benefits to it! Making estimates and invoices are so simple and look great! An estimate can also simply be transformed into an invoice without having to re-enter everything and of course there is no need for paper! They look professional and also allow for the option to include pictures so the work progress can easily be visible to the customer! There is really only one item I wish it had and that is the ability to creat a "signature" with company logo on it as well as contact info that is used at the end of every email sent out. That said its a great app!

My husband and I both own our own businesses for 5 and 4 years. Getting Paperwork done and keeping track of what was paid was a nightmare, before this app. Customer service is A+. Would pay monthly for this app. Works on iphone, iPad, and you can even log into your account on any desk top. Having your paperwork with you at all times is so nice!! Talk to them about your ideas for improvement-they listen!!! They updated the app not long after my suggestion. I tried other apps. Not as simple and clean as this one. This app is a LIFESAVER to someone who doesn't have a private secretary. It IS our private secretary!!!

This app has saved me a great deal of paperwork for my small business. I'm a one man show airconditioning contractor in Texas and started using this app one year ago. Not only is it all typed out so that the customer can read it since my handwriting is horrible, but it also means i have a record of what i've done on the home in the past right in my pocket at all times. Awesome!! It has even saved me money because my accountant has less to have to account for. This app i great for small and even larger businesses. After spending the time to get it all set up you will not regret it. And its free!!

Joist is really the best business app I have downloaded. It is really easy to use. The "refresh" feature makes it super convenient to have all the info on both my iPad and iPhone regardless of where we are (so long as there is wifi). Also, being able to instantly email the estimates and convert them to invoices with a screen tap is great!
Only improvements I would suggest are to have a copy and paste feature in the "notes" section for the estimates and invoices and to include a signature feature. Also, if there were a way to work offline with the info that would be great.

Totally awesome. A couple things to improve on: no need for terms/signature on invoice (should be on estimate only) and also make the font smaller. My contract terms are 2500 characters long and fills a whole page so a small font would be better. Would be awesome to add paypal integration to accept payments and also ability to have client sign the invoice digitally. Right now I have to send PDF estimate to myself and upload to HelloSign and send to client for digital sig. Other than that...this app is perfect and is better than all the competitors by far.

I love this app it is super easy to use I'm a small business owner JJK Contracting and we've tried a few other estimating apps quiet similar to be honest but joist doesn't have in app purchases and it allows us to create as many estimates as possible where as the other apps would limit the amount. My favorite feature is one click of a button I can turn a estimate into a invoice. I don't know how much longer this app will be free before they turn it into a paid subscription based app but I hope the price isn't too ridiculous. Thanks again guys keep it going.

I write several estimates a day to build various types of fences. The following features save me time and allow me to make a very professional presentation: ability to pre-load descriptive items and pricing, pre-load terms and conditions, attach photos, web based signature, and automatically syncs between iphone and ipad, email estimate, alpha search feature, and customized logo. I couldnt have developed it any better myself. I haven't even began to use the feature to track sales and payments yet. Thank you very much for this app.

I initially looked at this app because it looked like a helpful tool for me as an office manager for a mechanical contracting business. However, it has been a PERFECT fit for my home based jewelry business! I can enter all of my inventory and costs, create estimates for custom orders, invoice for them once created and even attach pictures of the completed pieces as well as pictures of the process. In addition, Brendan has contacted me personally to ask about my user experience and to help with questions I've had. Thank you!

This app is so much more & better than I ever imagined, it's truly wonderful & fast and keeps your pricing fast and handy to be able to quote jobs in person and literally send them to the entity while there.
They ask how much or when will I receive my est. & you tell them it's in there in box!
I've signed 20/30% of jobs because of this app.
I would pay for it & tell everyone about it!
Most awesome thing is it alerts you when your est. was opened & viewed & when it was signed! No more wondering whether they got it!

Can't complain at all about a free app that actually works better than a lot of paid apps. Thanks guys for doing us a solid in making this and I wish you success in your future apps. I use this app all the time with all my own terms, legal and disclaimer in the "generic contract".
Love that I could easily add my logo to contracts and invoices and send email. The simple P&L, outstanding and paid invoices,
total of gross receipts is really nice to review on the go. Make my business 8 hours instead of 12

I have been using Joist for several years now and I can't imagine trying to run a successful business without it!
This free app has better features than most paid invoicing apps. Joist is constantly being improved and features are added through updates-FOR FREE!

I have been using this app for awhile now. It is simply the best. I can start an invoice at home on the desktop then adjust & finish it on the job with the iPhone. Then email it instantly to the customer when the job is complete. It has made invoicing and estimating a breeze. Thank you!!!
