Knowing about your credit, is the best way to fix any potential errors. I was amazed to see the errors from credit cards I hadn't used in years. The cards I closed were still showing as open and had available credit. Then I noticed some credit cards I had when I was unemployed and unable to pay them on time. These cards were over 10 years old and had been turned over to collections. At the time, I had a balance less than $200, yet the report said the balance was over $1000. After seeing this on my credit report, I attempted to rectify the balance with the original issuing bank. Unfortunately, they said it was out of their hands and I had to contact the collection agency. Credit Karma gave me the resources to fix the issue.

This is one of the best decisions that I have made in a long time! Wonderful way to build or repair your credit!

This is an excellent app. It's great to be able to check your credit score and rating as often as you want without causing any negative affect to them and they update your score and rating bi-weekly which is also a plus.

I have been receiving my Trans Union credit score from my capital one card and using that tool to work on improving my credit. I knew the score did not jive with the actual Fico score but I was not aware by how much. I worked hard to improve the score I received through the credit card and I am finally in the excellent category. When I proudly went to refinance my mortgage, I was told my credit was merely fair and was about 90 points lower than the score I was seeing. I signed up with Credit Karma this week and I saw that the Trans Union score on Credit Karma was exactly the same as the score I get through my credit card. It is not often that a really useful tool comes along. One that is not based on bells and whistles but good information. For years I have battled to explain credit scores and why certain behaviors are just 'necessary' where finances are concerned. Years of explaining why it is not good to have too many cards, or a card with a high balance. A truly free credit report, updated every week or so. This app is a must have for people like me who are trying to improve their credit. Being able to actually see your progress each week is very satisfying. This app has allowed me to find items that have had a negative effect on my credit, and through communication I was able to bring my credit from a poor 628 to a fair 648 in one week with a few phone calls. Paid all my credit cards down to under 30% and now I'm hoping for 660 tomorrow when it updates. To people claiming that the score is incorrect, know that credit karma pulls your score from TransUnion. If a potential lender pulls your score from another credit bureau, the score will likely be different. My 628 on TransUnion was a 615 on Equifax.
