私も最初、Macと繫がらなくて色々調べたのですが、ルーターを介さず直接MacとiPhoneをWi-Fi接続することによって無事繋げることが出来ました！
手順はツールバーにあるWi-Fiメニューから「ネットワークを作成」→ネットワーク名：任意、チャンネル：11、セキュリティ：40ビットWEP、パスワード：任意にして「作成」をクリック。

最初に両方のソフト立ち上げて４桁の認証コード入力で認識し合うのでImacはAutostart on logon チェクしておけば

iPhoneSE、MacBookProの環境でタイトルのOSバージョンで使えています。
わざわざテンキーを買うのは邪魔だし頻度も多くないので億劫だったのですが、こちらのアプリが活躍してくれてとても便利です。

初回のペアリングでPINを入れても上手くいきませんでしたが、iPhoneとMacどちらも再起動してPINが表示されてから少し待って入力したところ成功。

NumPad Remote transforms your iPhone, iPod Touch or even your iPad into a wireless numeric pad for your Mac OS X computer. Very handy for MacBook laptops or those with bluetooth wireless keyboard.

In case you're not on your own network and you're using Internet Tethering through your iOS device, you will be able to connect also using Bluetooth, WiFi or USB cable.

* Comes with connection manager in case you have more than 1 computer. You can even connect to computers outside your local network.
