Yes! Two columns!
Update: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Two columns in landscape mode. All is right with the iPad world.
The app works fine, but I was hoping for sure that this new customizable version would finally give me the choice to read all of my books in a two column format. After all, the book in the graphic (Water For Elephants) is displayed that way. But, no, it still depends on each particular book whether or not you can read it in columns. (If someone can point out to me that I'm wrong, I will gladly retract this review.) So far, I have one Nook book in my collection that is formatted for columns. It's just plain awkward for many people to read normal sized print in lines the length of the screen, even in portrait mode. Don't the developers of this app read themselves? How many book have you ever owned that are setup to be read in such wide paragraphs? Maybe kids who have grown up on the Internet are perfectly comfortable reading that way, but I would like a choice. Even big glossy magazines are printed in multiple columns when they could get more words on a page in one column. I would love to get some use out of this app. It would be so easy to ask for BN gift cards for Christmas, as you can get them anywhere, but I don't and I won't until they make their app readable to those of us who grew up on paperback books. Until then, I will continue to use my Kindle, Google Books, and iBooks apps. Sorry, BN. I would love to be able to give you my business.

Pestering me for a review
Started off with a nook as my first e-device.. It had been a gift, purchased with a credit cad. The first crisis came trying to swap the registration from my friend to me, had to change cards to purchase books. Turned into a nightmare, requiring many phone calls and three trips to B&N to straighten out. Wound up doing a crash dump of memory and re-booting the device. Which nobody told me that I would loose everything I had purchased. Not want another round with the "experts" at B&N again, I opted e-mails to resolve the problem but never got one response!
I wound up with three devices, all replacements because my previous one failed. Finally got tired of it and got an I-pad instead! Altogether better reader for my enjoyment! Got so many books on the Nook, it became easier to use the app to read my books than spending little resources replacing the books into I-pad format. I understand why device owners don' allow cross platform sharing, it locks you into their platform. Glad there was an app to read my nook books on my I-pad, no more glitches and seamless reading! Started buying books thru Apple instead, just wish I could put all my purchased materials into one place. B&N customer service was anything but! 3 units, one missing 32gb memory card, and lost books due to unit swaps for repairs that never lasted, my I-pad is so much more pleasurable to read with! Billy

Nook reader, nook apps on iPad / iPhone, and nook
I have both an older nook reader, the nook reader program on both a desktop and a net book, and the nook app on an iPad and an iPhone 4. I have over 500 books in my library, of which roughly 400+ are archived and 100+ are active. I find the nook reader (which I used for over a year) to be cumbersome because it's slow to use on the Internet to shop for books, and it's cumbersome to page through a list of 500 books, 9 at a time. But it is very usable and reliable. I prefer to read using the iPad because of the versatility of the iPad to do other things, the screen resolution, and the speed, but use all five devices interchangeably. I have read several books using two or three devices during the course of reading a given book, and have not experienced any problems I have unarchived and reloaded several books in order to reread them again without any problems. I have also loaned books to friends, and they always come home again.
Basically I think these apps / programs are a great boon. I travel quite a bit, and frequently do so on a motorcycle. It's a whole lot easier to carry 500 electronic books in a suitcase, backpack, or motorcycle saddlebag than to carry three paper books! I wholeheartedly recommend the nook in any of it's personifications.

One of my favorite apps!
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE BOOKS FROM THIS APP AND HERE'S WHY: This app has everything that your nook device has; it's like having your nook everywhere you go. If you were able to make purchases from within this app, then there would be no purpose of ever owning the nook device in the first place. No nooks would ever be sold. Why buy a $200 device when you can just get a free app on your phone that's just like the real thing? Exactly. This app is a companion to your nook, not a replacement.
Moving on to why I LOVE this app. As I said, it's like having your nook with you wherever you go. I can read any book I want on my phone! It's very easy to set up. Just log into your b&n account, and the you will be able to download your books. Bookmarking and highlighting is all too easy. You can even personalize your font and colors. I also like that you can adjust the brightness from within the app instead if having to close out and go to "settings" on your phone. Your nook won't be able to tell how far you've read in this app, BUT after reading from your nook and then opening the same book on the app, you'll have the option to skip ahead to the page you last read on your nook.

Hooked on the Nook
Being a lifelong bookworm I loved the feel of "real" hard copy books in my hand. I swore that I would buy only "real" books - ever. Was I wrong ! When I realized that "real" books were starting to take over the house - I gingerly stepped into the electronic new age via Nook. Now I'm hooked ! What an amazing reading experience ! The buys and downloads are fast, the font sizes selection and color background choices are good - except for the deletion of sepia. Please bring sepia back. Ability to access additional info when key words are highlighted, the ability to highlight key words and passages plus make notes - features that work flawlessly. All in all, a seamless reading experience. Now 99% of my books are read via Nook, either on my iPad or Nook Glow Light. The remaining 1% hard copy are the few books that would have some lasting value for me, or books intended for gifts. Now I can read anywhere, having an inexhaustible library at hand. And (big plus ! ) I can read late into the night without using the bedside light that so annoyed my spouse (: and my arm doesn't get heavy trying to hold up a book while reclining ! What's not to love ? !

Great Interaction with Your Library
I really love how the App has been improved throughout the last three years. I came from using a Nook Color to the iPad and with the Nook, there was a lot of interactions (obviously because it was created by Barnes & Nobles for the use with their eBooks), but this App has come a long way since then to match the features. The ability to create shelves, the pairing together books that are within the same series, once you have purchased them.
I would say that to complete my wish list, I would love for the App to tell you when there is another book or books attached to the book you are viewing under a books "Information" and also allow you to purchase it from the App. Also would love for the App to give you under a different section, a list of other books by that author and a list of books from other authors that are similar to the type of book the one you are viewing under "Information" is.
Otherwise, I give thanks to the developers for how far they brought this App and I can't wait for what they do with it in the future.

Long Time Nook Lover!!
I've had and loved the Nook since its first edition and have continuously upgraded till I finally had the Nook Tablet. However when I finally purchased apple products (first the iPod touch 4th gen. then the iPhone 5) I couldn't not download the Nook app so I could carry all my book with me without having to carry extra devices and charger cords for them. This app is perfect. I finally had to upgrade to 128GB iPhone 6+ so I could download all my books an have them at hand whenever I want with out running out of space on my phone. I LOVE this app! It's awesome. It keeps track of your bookmarks, it lets you lookup words in the middle of reading should you need to and it groups your books by series so their easy to find and its really just a great app. No complaints abt it. If you have a Nook, this app is a must for you to have easy access to your books on your mobile device.

Love My Nook, I named her Rita the Nook just a lit
I have had my nook from the first time it came out. I told my husband that is what I wanted for Christmas. I had to wait to get it but the wait was so worth it. I love the that it is for my books only, The screen has no glare as it is the ink print screen so you can read it in the sun or bright settting, it is small and easy to carry anywhere I go. I take it on vacation, to drs appointments, the hospital waiting rooms and ER. It lasts for hours and I can carry my whole library with me. I now have to compete with my husband for it as he has started getting nook books and reading them on it. It has always been a hit with me. I use the nook software on my computer and other devices but it is not the same. Not sure what I am going to done if it goes as they are not making this model anymore.

Great App
I've been reading on Nook for a few years now and love it. I use it on my Mini-iPad when at home or traveling and on my iPhone when waiting for appointments. Easy to change font size and background shading. Current reading page is always offered when reading on multiple devices. Some of the other "reviewers" need to become more educated in using Nook. When preparing for a trip I choose what books I think I might read and make sure the are downloaded. I can them read anytime, with or without WiFi. (I also download any maps I think I'll need as well as translator Apps - not on Nook, but same idea of being prepared for no WiFi). I archive those books I don't need to be active. I can un-archive (a word?) anytime I have WiFi available.

It Gets Even the Small Stuff Right!
When comparing the major e-book readers, Nook still offers you the most customization options and the most relaxing experience. You are allowed to design your own theme, from background screen color, to margins line spacing, and text color. I find this feature absolutely key to limiting eye strain on an electronic device. And, in fact, it makes it a pleasure to read in either low light or bright situations. The nook is not a busy app, it won't flash at you or clock how fast you're reading. And that's exactly what I'm looking for. I want to get totally absorbed in what I'm reading, so real time seems almost suspended. The Nook gives you everything you need to read well, then gets out of your way and LETS you enjoy reading!

Nook Is Fantastic!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy my Nook! Barnes & Noble has a huge variety of books in all price ranges (many are even free) right at my finger tips. There isn't room in my house for one more bookcase and Nook has solved that problem. All of the books I have purchased from B&N are in my Nook library in case I want to re-read some, and I don't even have to dust them! The public library has ebooks for loan....I can download them on my Nook. I have the Nook app on my IPad in case I'm away from my Nook and have time to read. Another thing I love is the fact that if I attempt to purchase a book that I already own, B&N will tell me in order to prevent duplicate orders. Love everything about my Nook!!

Much better since the last update
I'm so glad finally updated this software. It did not have an update for a very long time and there were a lot of things not working properly since IOS 8. I had to call to complain of an issue I had not too long ago, while at the airport. I was in the middle of a book and while I had to wait for my flight, I opened the app to read. It opened to the library not to the page bookmarked. Not only that but I had to download it and it would not respond at all. The same thing happened on my return flight. I let CSR know of the problem and asked about the updates. They assured me they were going to address it and a month later there was an update. Thanks for listening.

Best Reading App Around
I love having my Nook Books available to me on my I pad and my IPhone. I don't always have my Nook Reader with me but I always have my phone and most times have my iPad. I am a book lover and I never thought I would read off a tablet of any kind but the ease and convenience has outweighed any doubt I had. They try to give you the same experience as reading an actual book with the page turning graphics. You can enlarge the fonts if you need to see better. That is a big advantage over reading a book. That and the fact that you can store thousands of books in one place. I had no more room to fit all my books!!

Fabulous App!
One of my two most used apps. Although we've only had ebooks for a short time, it's hard to imagine having to carry a big, bulky book around in my purse like I used to. And I love being able to read a few pages anytime and any place. The app (and nook) only continue to improve and have made my life more enjoyable and less cluttered. But I miss being able to share a great book with friends and I think the high price of digital books should reflect that. I'd also like an added feature to browse other books by the same author or notifications of a new book release. Overall, love the app!

Amazing App
I have loved reading books for years and I told myself that I would never start reading books on screens. Well, I couldn't have been more incorrect! Convenience outweighed the smell of freshly-opened pages when it came to traveling and living my life. I now have a steadily-growing library of great NOOK books and HD comics that I can take wherever I want and access whenever I want. The feature to read white letters on a black background saves my eyes from the barrage of high-intensity photons smartphones give out. Overall, the app is wonderful. Thank you NOOK!

Nook Lover
I was always a book lover. I loved the feel of holding the book and page turning. Bookmarks always kept my place. I didn't think I would love to read online but have come to love it as much as ever. I started out with the basic Nook reader and eventually went to the Nook application for iPad and iPhone. I love how it knows a new bookmark exists if I switch devices and quickly takes me to my last place. As well the ease of bookmarking and going to the Index are great features too. Love the whole Nook experience and ease of purchasing book from Barnes & Noble.

Love love love!
I love this app! I read on my phone a lot and love how book app syncs with my old school nook (good for reading by the pool,) my nook color, and the apps on my phone and iPad! Also love the built in dictionary and the way it displays the definition at the bottom of my screen without having to navigate out of the app!
I do wish that it would keep me in the book I'm currently reading, versus making me start at my library each time. (It used to do that.)
I also wish I could buy books in the app instead having to log on online, but over all I'm super happy.

Love the Nook App!
I both have a Nook and the app on my iPad. Since I use the iPad so much for work, it was easier to have the app for my commute and travel. I love it. I buy a book and it appears immediately. It looks like I am turning pages in a book as I go to the next page. I can adjust the font size. I can look up words I do not know. It groups books by the same author in a series. . The only thing I would really like is if I could mark it read without archiving it. I always like to have books on hand to read and it can be a drag looking for the unread books.

I still enjoy this app - now even more so
I enjoy the fact I can read a book on my iPad, and then when I'm waiting to pick my grandsons us from school I can continue reading in my car on my iPhone. It asks me if I want to go to the new reading position and this is great - don't have to scroll forever to find it. I usually archive a book once I'm finished with it (or bored) but now I can go into the archive to pull it back up for reference or further reading. So far, I've not had any problems due to the update. Reading on my iPad is wonderful - saves my weary sore wrists from holding a book.

Nook app is great
I have had the B&N nook app for my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 2 for a long time, and these days I do most of my reading, both books and magazines, using this app. All the ebooks I purchase from Barnes and Noble appear almost instantly in the nook app, and it is very easy to create shelves to organize the books in your library.
Barnes and Noble has done a great job in adapting their business to the Internet. Using their app on my iPhone 6, I literally have my library in the 'palm of my hand' and can read anywhere.
Well done, Barnes and Noble.
