Full disclosure: I work for Home Depot. At Home Depot we have what is called the FIRST phone. Phone can do a good many things including looking every item up in the store and other Home Depot stores throughout the entire country, tell you the price of the item, how many we have in stock etc.

You would think such a powerful tool at our disposal, I would generally use that tool that my place of work provides. However, I find myself using this application more often than not, because it gives you things that the first phone does not give you… Namely reviews of the items in question. When making a sale or a suggestion, I generally find myself grabbing for my iPhone so that I can use this application to tell people about the pros and cons of items that I am not particularly knowledgeable about and tell them about specifications that I am not particularly knowledgeable about, as well as showing the reviews both positive and negative so they can make it more informed decision.

I use this app every single day at my job working for Home Depot, and it is very simple to use and I recommended very highly to anyone who does any home improvement work before them selves or as a contractor.

This app is great - frankly way better than I was expecting given how retail stores are (not) organized. In fact, I would say this is one of the best Ecom apps I've ever used, beating many etailer apps.

There is only one thing missing: home delivery for in-store items (for a delivery charge). I was building a deck and dog run. Thru this app I could order all the tools, 50' of artificial turf, screws - everything EXCEPT the pallet of pressure treated wood. For that, I had to drive into the store and order the lumber for delivery - by waiting in line, then showing the delivery desk what I wanted to order on my phone via this app. SO CLOSE to ordering everything I needed in the app... If I could have simply picked a "deliver to home from store" option, I could have saved myself an hour, saved Home Depot employees 30 minutes in redundantly typing in what I had already selected in the app - making everything more efficient and easier to purchase. To be clear - I'm not expecting free shipping on 1000lbs of lumber, just the option to purchase the lumber plus delivery online.

Aside from that, the app was great. I'll be using it more in the future.

It seems to me that someone had created an app just like the Apple Store app. I have to say, this app is truly amazing. Coming from someone who never shops here, my experience was enjoyable because of this app. I was able to search for a product and the app told me which isle I could find it. When I got lost, the app provides a map of the store so I can find my way around. When I found the product I was interested, I could scan it and read user reviews from here. When I got home and wanted to purchase more of the same product, the checkout process who really easy. To top it off, the app knew my In-Store purchases!! Unbelievable. I'm assuming it's because of my name, location, and card that I used to purchase In-Store and Online that verified my account. Because when I created my account on the app, all it asked for was my name and email. And I surely didn't give my email to the person at check out.

Luckily I know my way around apps and this app made is easy to navigate. Great job! From a customer who rarely ever visits the Home Depot Store

I haven't used the app all that much yet, but from what I've experienced so far, it's fantastic. With the app, you can scan bar codes and it will provide you with all of the information you might need about that product. I haven't tried scanning bar codes yet but what I have tried is their beta Image Search, and it worked surprisingly well. It recognized my ceramic tile, vinyl floor tile, door knob, and towel rack. It's pretty cool if you ask me.
Another great feature is the store map. They have mapped out their stores in a 3-D model. You can view the 3-D map labeled by department, or by aisle. When you find an item in the app, whether it be via a search, a browse, or an Image Search, you can tap on where it says "Find it on......." and it will show you the store map and a blip to show you where the item is. Can't beat that, especially if you're not much of a store browsing kind of guy.

That was my most enjoyable trip to Home Depot ever. I had already read the reviews so I had all my items in the cart through the app, ready to test this system out. Get to the store, look at the app for isle placement and BAM, have my 1st item. 2nd item ... got it! 3rd ... next isle! 4th ... had to walk a bit for these but no problem, I had my tennis shoes on. It was soo simple, I couldn't believe it. Usually I'm an hour searching for everything on my list. But this time I was in and out ... AND found out where the closetmaid stuff is. Complete awesomeness. It'll take you time to input your stuff in the app (but still pretty easy and quick), but it's sooo worth it. It's like your a pro shopper ... you just glide right through your store experience.

I can not believe these people on these reviews complaining like 5 year olds about how slow the app boots up. What has happen to people's patients?? So what it takes a minute or two to load up the app. What's y'alls big hurry?? I love the Home Depot app. I probably use it just about every day. I enjoy shopping for tools on the Home Depot App. I love the "My Store" future, as I look for the item or material I am wanting, once found it lets me know the status an availability. An if it's not available, it shows me the closest local store that does have what I am looking for. This is a great future for me bc I live far out in the country an don't want to go to 3 different stores before I find my item. With this I was in and out with the quickness.

I NEVER take the time to write reviews, but I have enjoyed this app so much, I felt it was well worth well my time to let the developers know they sure did a tremendous job on this one!! When creating this app, the developer really had the user in mind. This is one of the most useful apps I have on my iPhone! No glitches, no lags. Seriously, if you are a Home Depot lover like myself, you will enjoy the simplicity of being able to search for a product and find current price (as well as if item is in stock or not), search items by photo, create shopping lists, find 1000s of items with a quick search, AND pay your HD credit card!!! Other Retailers should take a lesson from Home Depot. I use this app almost every weekend. It is so handy to look for an item then have its availability, price and shelf location AT YOUR PREFERRED store. You get a shelf number and a 3D view of where it is in the store. You can even buy it before you go to the store and have it waiting on you. If you think of something else wile in the store, don’t worry about using up Data Time, they provide WIFI in the store for that.

Brick & Mortar stores get my business when I need or want something now. Stores that make it easy to determine local availability like this app are going to be the store I drive too.

I love the simple navigation of this app, makes it really easy to shop for items and use app features too. My favorite feature is the shopping list, makes it really easy to save items I want and add them to cart. I really also like that I can see if an item is in stock in local stores, and if so what aisle...for in-store items I just take my app shopping list with me! This app feels pretty robust too when searching for items, the filters allow me to find specifically what I'm looking for and I can easily compare items from there. I use the ratings and reviews pretty heavily in helping me decide between items, so I like the easy navigation to the reviews from the product overview.

After reading many of the other reviews I decided to write my own. I've had the app for a while now and if nothing else it allows you to look for anything you want and find out if they even carry that item at all. If you are going to the store look for the item where it tells you. Gardening items will not be in plumbing etc. you can't get your lumber precut but they can have it ready for you. I have had items shipped as well as picking them up in the store and both ways is great. You can save your personal info to facilitate your checkout. If you need it to be faster make sure you are plugged in to the wifi. It's a great app but it's not perfect but there again nothing is.

If you enjoy learning about DIY projects and shopping from the security and convenience of your own home, this is the app and store to work with. Whether online or at one of their many stores, Home Depot truly does put their customers first. With expert advice and tips on saving money when remodeling any part of your house. If Home Depot makes a mistake, and we know we all do once in a blue moon, they fix their mistake, apologize and reimburse you for their mistake. That's worth the world these days. A company that can admit their fault, apologize and make sure it doesn't happen again. That's why Home Depot and their app get five stars.

Glad you gave us the option to turn off message notifications! I hated having to click on it to make the notifications go away. It was useless.

I'm a cashier at Home Depot and I use this app to look up items for customers. I LOVE this app. It tells you exactly where an item is and if we have it. I don't have to call an associate and ask for a SKU that isn't on an item. Just look it up and I have it in 30 seconds!

The "In-Store Only" function doesn't work. The first few results will be in-store, then after it shows all results. I wish it would either not include them or let me know when it switches to online stock.

I have been a big Lowe's fan after the terrible service I experienced at Home Depot about 4 years ago in Monroe, LA. But then Lowe's didn't have a part that HD did and I was so impressed by the experience. They told me about the app and how I can shop online and then pick it up. Love It! Let's me have my time back instead of stomping around the store trying to find parts, and even when I do have to, the app helps me find them. I even found a part that the local store didn't carry and they helped me find it at another store out of state and ship it to my house. I'm a converted HD fan now.

This is truly a great app,
I use this before making any Home Depot purchases, on-line and in store. I love that the app tells me the availability/quantity of the product that I'm looking for at my local HD. When I walk into the store I always open this app open, connect to the in store wifi, select the product I'm looking for, and open the detailed map that pinpoints the location in the store of the product. This speeds up the shopping process so much. I recommend this app for anyone who shops at Home Depot, whether contractor or homeowner.

The Home Depot app made the completion of a major renovation project a breeze. We were able to order and pay for items 24 hours a day so our shopping was not confined to store hours. As a result, we ordered things like tile in the middle of the night and the contractor was able to pick them up on his way to work. The large amount of items with free shipping made it easy and cost effective to have items that were not available in the store delivered directly to the house so that they were there when he needed them.

I love the fact that you can use multiple gift cards (up to 10 at a time) for payment. You can also check the balance on a gift card from within the app. Very easy to locate my items and add to my cart and then return to my shopping exactly where I left off. App is very good at remembering me and my shipping preferences. It's also great for checking to see if an item is in stock at my favorite store and if it isn't then I can check other nearby locations. Just doesn't get much better than this. Thanks Home Depot.

The app is not perfect, but is pretty damned good.
I think it is a four- star app, but I have to add a star for the 3-D in-store map experience, that shows you exactly where your item can be found within your favorite store.
In addition, the image search beta, which allows you to take a picture of a vanity knob (for example), magically takes you to a list of knobs.
The image capture beta is far from perfect, but I have to appreciate HD investing time and resources to try and make the future of search better.

So may retailers create "me-too" apps that don't offer customers significant value, but this app from Home Depot is invaluable. It's well designed and easy to use, but more importantly offers useful functionality. The ability to check stock in-store is key when paired to the listing of the location of the item on the shelves. For online purchasing, I found the organization of the photos, reviews, and product details very helpful. The cart functionality was particularly easy to use and innovative. Great job HD!

I use this app all the time before I go to Home Depot. It tells me exactly in the store where everything is, and how many they have of a product. If I need 10 brackets and my regular store only has 5, It shows me which store is closest and how many they have. I just tried the "pick up in store" option for the first time today and it was awesome. Before I go there I always put everything in the cart so I know how much everything is going to cost and that way I don't forget anything.

Love the app! The app is very helpful for finding stuff in the store. I do most of my home improvement shopping at Home Depot and it is great to do it from the app or in the store with the apps help. However, if the app incorporated the Apple Watch for lists and store cards it would aid efficiency more and compete with their competitors. Do I need to express how convenient it would be to have Apple Pay supported at Home Depot. Bring back Apple Pay support!
