Easy and fun app

This app 100% has helped me not mind logging my food in and then it keeps up with my points for me and automatically deducts pints I just used.
I have tried a couple of other apps, but quit because of inconvenience and frustration of using in trying to find foods I ate, but this one is great. You can scan barcode from inside app and if for some reason it is not in the foods, you can add info and it will stay in choices. However everything from Healthy Choice fudgesicles to condiments, canned items, frozen items, coffee, organic cheese, breads, Canadian bacon different brands, organic milk.. From local chain grocery store to SAMs Club choices... ALL in there making it super easy. Scan and go!!! I take it to the grocery store and scan items there, instead of buying and finding out later how many points. That saves me time and money. I also scan my daily items I use from my refrigerator and you can choose "track" now or just get info and close or save it by putting it in favorites for later use. Then if you type a few letters, app tries to help you find the food quickly.
I also love the "find a meal" included. If you need a low range, middle or more smart points for the day, it gives you suggestions in each range. You can also put in if looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner ideas. And they include recipes right there !
Thanks Weight Watchers for such an easy, well thought out app.

Everything changes!

I'm a lifetime member of WW and back in the meeting room after having a baby. First go around I lost over 60lbs and kept it off for 2 years. I suspended my account when I was pregnant and got back on the program as soon as my doctor allowed which was mid December. Being a seasoned WW member I knew that the plan changes always come out in December to rev up for the new year. I'm breastfeeding and get a lot more points now and love the new program. The changes have made processed and surgery foods more points and whole healthy foods less. My number of point changed dramatically and foods that I used to eat regularly have changed. In my opinion change is a good thing, I've changed, I'm not the same member I was a year ago! The emphasis on eating healthy is just what I need to keep myself healthy and nourish my baby too. As for the app, I was addicted to it the first time I lost the weight and back at it again! I love the recent options is broke up by day so if I ate something today that I also ate yesterday I can track it from there and the barcode scanner and history is a dream. I know a lot of people complained about the app in the beginning of January but I didn't have any issues and I'm loosing weight. Happy Tracking y'all!

21st century App

Several years back all tracking was done by paper. I can do and track everything with the I-Phone. In quick add I lost my meals & points, went around the house & scanned everything. My phone is always with me so I have no excuses. Any water, exercise or food I can add immediately and see where I stand real time. I use the shopping list in reverse. I've put a large list on and incrementally add as I go. Before I shop, I check the items I need, then uncheck as I pick them up. The exercise list has every activity under the sun and it's nice lists are alphabetical. It's a super great App and makes me accountable to me. When manually tracking I always had excuses, tracker was left home, oh I forgot my tracker (on vacations or long weekends away) or the biggest issue, trying to remember everything you ate & drank during the day so you would forget items and be short. The restaurant list with food points is fabulous, scanner phenomenal and I'm sure there are still things I'll discover as the weeks pass. I can say it boosts my confidence level by 90% and will give me a 75% better chance at being successful!

Great app has improved

This app has come a long way since I started using it in 2011 on my iPhone. I now use it both on an iPhone and iPad. I do agree with some of the other reviewers. Now I can scan directly from the app and I don't need a separate app for that. I have seen that the check off boxes don't sync to the desktop and that is a nuisance. I too would like an optional badge available to see how many points remaining for the day and also the availability to print my daily journal from my IPad, I need to go to the desktop version to print when I need a copy. I would also like to see the availability to go to recipe builder and the member boards from my IPad through the app. Even though I have the Kitchen Companion app I like the Recipe Builder better. I find that the food database is more up to date now then in the past and this a great improvement. Food companies are always changing their products along with the fact that some products are not available everywhere. Overall, I like this app I started using it while I was losing the weight I needed to lose and continue to use it for maintaining my weight.

On my way

This app has helped me in ways I never thought possible. I am a very very big girl who lost contact with my body along the way to obesity and this app along with regularly attending meetings has helped me reconnect and recognize my bodies signals for good and fluids. With the app's chimes as a gentle reminder to focus on me for a second I can report that I now know what dehydration feels like and what hungry feels like. Believe it or not the little reminder chimes will capture my attention and even if I'm busy I'll hear the chime and remember to take a moment to focus on my bodies needs and quickly eat and/or drink some water. It was not easy to reverse the many years of ignoring my bodies cries for proper nourishment and regular fluid but I can now report that I am happily taking care of my body's nutritional needs on a regular basis and I feel great. and as an added bonus I am now seeing the results of my new habits on the scale and in my ability to mentally focus.

On the go, on plan

If it weren't for the app, I probably wouldn't have as much success. Having my phone with me at all times means access to my WW at all times.

And to the person who complained titled "Nothing New,"

That "food porn" featured on the app's opening screen is probably only like 5-6 points. That's the WHOLE freakin point of WW is to change the WAY you eat, not WHAT you eat. They encourage ENJOYING pancakes smothered in syrup (but at a reasonable portion and with a low fat recipe, speaking of their whole wheat pancakes which are AMAZING, thank you very much). And I agree that the 24/7 coaches aren't very helpful. I've tried em a couple times and wasn't very impressed. I was beginning to wonder if they were computerized. And the reason they use grams to measure a taco (or most everything else) is because it's the most universally used form of measurement (ie. THE METRIC SYSTEM). I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to change the measurement to "oz" when tracking. There.

So easy

I just went back to Weight Watchers after having gained too much over the past few years. I had joined about 21 years earlier and lost the weight and went on maintenance and have kept it off pretty well.
Now, I'm having a very hard time since I had spinal cord surgery and not able to workout as I was able to do before. So it wanted to back to tracking my food. I wanted the accountable that WW gives you and is a great incentive to stay on track but I really don't like having to look up foods and writing it all down. My wife told me about this app so I decided to try it. What a great app! Tracking now is so easy and fast. And today I was able to go out for 2 1/2 mile walk and then was able to enter that as well and wow it gave me 4 more points for the week.

Weight watchers help you to lose the weight and teaches you how to eat for the rest of your life. I don't think there is a better plan and now with this app it makes it easy and fast to stay on track.

Love the app..Needs bugs fixed

I gave it an overall 5 stars simply because I love the simplicity of the app. However, I do wish the scanner being faulty would get fixed along with the favorites button to work properly, every time I try to add something as a favorite, it tells me I have no internet connection & then I have to search for some random food item to make it add the correct amount of points which then takes longer to add food to my tracker. I did the upgrade to get the recipe builder but I'm now wondering if I should of just kept the loser version because everything functioned properly.

I would also like it if it were easier to find items via their points. It's just a lot of different things you have to click to get to in order to find what you want. Maybe there could be more categories like "fast food, fruits and veggies, dips" something like that so I'm not scrolling through a list of fast food items to try and find something edible and low in points.

Better than ever

The app has had some ups and downs. My experiences have not been as dreadful as some have described but the new release was not as smooth as I would have expected. I know it has been disappointing probably because it seemed to lose functionality. Most of the changes seemed to be intentional but a few seemed to be surprises to everyone including tech support. I'm still unable to change my weigh in day!
So why the 5 star rating?! So far, it hasn't crashed anything else, it isn't what I had taken for granted and become accustomed, but it has great potential and I don't want to watch the app disappear and be left without the data it holds. At least it continues to do that job very well. I'm hopeful because it seems to be getting better again. I'm not looking for things that the new program has determined dated, but I'm hoping for things that will allow my journey to be as transparent and seamless between platforms as possible.

Extremely helpful

Update: I love the we app. I've been using the WW app for 3.5 months, after I tried it out for 2 wks on my daughter's account (to see if I could be honest!). I've lost 22 lbs, just keeping track with the points. I travel a lot, and this has really helped me hold the line on intake while I'm away. In conjunction, I've been using a digital scale to easily help measure quantities. It's been really interesting to note what foods are high in points and what aren't. I glut myself on fruit (would probably be losing faster than 1.5 lbs per week average if I didn't indulge so much), which satisfies my cravings to cram stuff into my mouth. It can be hairy when the updates come through, because the app probably won't work as well until they get the bugs out of the update. At this point, I have no desire to go on without the app. It's the perfect amount of 'nudge', and perfectly private. App and digital scale: that's my recommendation.

Thanks for the fix - one more suggestion

I promised 5 stars once the restaurant section was fixed and it has been! Now you can see the points value without having to select the item first! Yay!

One more request for this section though. Could you fix it so you could select more than one item at a time? Currently you select one item and set it to track and it bumps you back to your tracker; then you have to go back into the restaurants section, look for the one you want and then search again for the next item. The only "workaround" is to save each item as a favorite. When you do this you are then taken back to that restaurant's page to make additional selections. But then you have to go back to your tracker and select these items from your favorites list. I seldom eat at some of these places so really don't want to add their menu to my favorites.

Could this be on the "menu" for the next update please?

Thank you!

Love this so much!

I am not outgoing. I have a problem with authority. I hate groups. I don't like feeling like I am being judged. I don't like talking about diets or weight. For those and other reasons, this app has made all the difference for me.

This app helps me. Each day. There's no judgement or guilt or anything like that. It's just the app and me. It's helping me to learn how to make choices. When my choices don't work out, the only human element is me. And I learn to make different choices without feeling lectured. I've joined Weight Watchers several times over the years, but never stuck with it because I don't like being around other people. With the app, that is removed. I've been using it for two months and it's working for me. Today I wore a pair of pants I haven't been able to fit into in over a year. And they were loose. Give this app a try--if you're like me, you'll love it!!

Significantly improved! Went from 3 to 5 stars eas

I work in development, and like many, I was a bit surprised at the old app. There was a lot of things that seemed missing, or just didn't make sense, weird layout, slow, whatever. It worked, but it was not impressive.

This new update is almost like a whole new application. It's now iPhone 6 Plus optimized. The layout is better and more intuitive. And it is significantly faster and more reliable. They must have spent some more time on the user experience and optimization because it really is an impressive application now. The food search is a lot faster, the connection is a lot more reliable, and I haven't had any crashes.

I would say that this application now meets or actually exceeds, my expectations. If they do Apple Watch integration that would be great, but I'm yet to see an Apple Watch application that was actually useful. So no deduction there.

THE Best Helper. I couldn't do this without it!

FOR ME-writing down points and looking things up didn't help. Took too long. This app is the best thing to ever happen to weight watchers! I can look things up fast, compare restaurants (menu), and the best thing is it keeps TRACK of my points. All you do is click on your food and it shows you portion (you control how much-if you only ate a piece of something you can adjust the portion) more importantly-how much is a portion! That, my friend is the key! I am not "tech"savvy. In fact, I called weight watchers and they walked me through everything. Also, be nice to yourself. It took me a few tries to get the hang if it, but it is user friendly. If I made a mistake-you can delete things and then add others. Even the day after! Even keeps track if your activities! So easy! Lost 15 pounds with it already and the app is working great for me

Pocket pal

This is a great app and it saved me from carrying the booklets around to calculate points. It has tons of restaurants and even the barcode scanner. It connects to my Garmin activity tracker and calculates my exercise for me adding fit points throughout the day each time I work out. It subtracts your points as you log your food and it's easy to see how many you have left. There is also a connect feature that connects you with other WW members similar to FaceBook. You can share pictures, stories, recipes or get some great support from people going through the same challenges. I love this app and all the people connected to it! Very inspirational. Only thing I would say it lacks is adding more than one food item at a time. My Fitness Pal has the multi add feature instead of going back and forth to add each item. That would be great!

Love it!

The app makes it easy to track and scan foods, activity and weight. The feature I like the most is the "connect" area. There I can see real people (not celebrities) weight loss, pics, tips etc.
I have an iPhone 6 so I haven't experienced problems with this app.
Also, yes, points have gone up on items that have more sugar, fat and less protein. But at the same time points have gone down on things like chicken, tuna and just healthier items. The program tries to make you eat healthier and stay away from things that you really don't need.
I've done weight watchers off and on for years never really losing a lot of weight. Now I'm actually seeing the scale move!
So I'm I going to whine because I lost my twinkies because they have double the points? Heck no! Goodbye twinkies and extra fat!! I personally won't miss you ;)

Indispensable for serious WW-ers

Overall this app has continued to improve over time to where it's ALMOST as function-rich as the Web browser version of eTools, which is really pretty uncommon for any app. Even better is that the restaurant data & non-grocery-brand data (like Aldi or Target store brands) continues to grow rapidly: over the past six months I've been able to dump about 1/2 of my manually created foods because the app now has those foods built into its own darabase. The version prior to this one had some bad stability issues but as of THIS version (combined with iOS 8.4), those issues appear to be all cleaned up. Still a few minor details I hope they'll port from their Web version
someday - but I use this app all the time & I think
It would be almost impossible for me to do effective tracking using any other method.

Love this app

I lost 64 lbs with weight watchers a few years ago. Since then I've taken on a couple of very stressful promotions with my employer. The new promotion required long grueling hours, sitting at a desk for 9-12 hours, dealing with extremely challenging people and high demands. I also married and my husbands family always provided food that was hard to say no to. I began putting the weight back on and before I knew it I gained 30 lbs back. I'm miserable and am not going to continue doing this. I've attempted to use this app before, but was not committed or prepared. I have now taken another promotion and the stress has been cut by more than half. I now have the time to plan and prepare and expect to be back to my goal weight. This app will be the core of my journey back to the weight I'm happy to be.

SlimShari - ★★★★★ 2015-07-25

Much better now

After some pretty big glitches when the app was first updated, things are working much MUCH better now. I love the new SP system as its lined up exactly with how experts feel about sugar and trans fat consumption. Is change hard? Well, duh, sure it is. It's not WWs fault that many of us have treated ourselves poorly but they are giving us the tools to not just lose weight but to be healthier. I've had to make adjustments to some of my 'go to' favorites but that just causes me to look at what I'm eating and make better choices. This app is easy to navigate once you play around for a bit and get used to the layout. That being said, the app won't do the work for you, you have to do your work to be successful. The app is only another tool to help you get to where you would like to be.

Five Stars with criticism

So I love this app. I lost 100 pounds using the app and attending weekly in-person meetings at WW several years ago, then re-gained 70# (trying not to track, etc). I went back to using the app and attending meeting a in December and as of today am down nearly 50# again and within 3 pounds of my Lifetime goal. I use the app several times a day and have tracked my weight regularly. My criticisms include two things. 1) there are flaws with the weight tracker on both the tablet and iPhone version. On the iPad The Y axis weights do not re-calibrate when switching from landscape to portrait mode. On the iPhone, the weight tracker will not allow me to scan back in time very far. 2) I wish there was a way to sign in at WW using my phone and automatically update my weight when I weigh in.
