プレイリストを使うことで、購読済みポッドキャストをテーマごとに分類したり、エピソードの再生順を自分好みに設定できる。Voice Boostをオンにすると音声が聞きやすくなり、Smart Speedは音声の空白部分を自動的にスキップして再生時間を短縮する。ただし、日本語の促音もスキップ対象となるため、やや不自然に聞こえることがある。

他にも、エピソードの冒頭・末尾を5秒刻みでスキップし、毎回聞かされる定型的なセリフをカットすることもできる。年1000円のプレミアム登録で、広告バナーを消したり、自前の音源ファイルを登録したりすることも可能。

ただし、iOSのポッドキャストアプリは、iOS 16.4の再生キュー導入により再生順序を好みにコントロールできるようになり、iOS 17.4以降では英語の文字起こしをサポートしており、英語ポッドキャスト聴取の強力な助っ人となっている。そのため、Overcastの優位性はかなり小さくなった。

Overcastはアプリのコードが複雑化したことでしばらく新機能追加が途絶えていたが、リリース10周年に合わせてリリースされたバージョン2024.7で、シンプルでモダンなコードに全面的に書き換え、改良が迅速に行えるようになったとのこと。今後の新機能に期待したい。

I switched to this app from Apple podcast. Overall, it is very good. I have been enjoying using it for a couple of years.

For some time I have been trying to figure out how to do the following settings or if there is no such features on this app. I would appreciate it if you could kindly answer my questions.(it might not be appropriate to ask these here, though)

• how can an episode of podcasts once played be played again automatically on a playlist?[if such a maneuver is possible]
• is it possible to make a setting to repeat one single episode?

The redesigned app is snappier and overall a better UI than the previous version. I like that new podcast episodes are displayed at the top so I can just start a show that I like. I do wish, however, that playlists had more prominence.

The playing screen is a big improvement, especially the chapters page. Minor nitpicks: I wish the sleep timer was fewer taps away. Also, when you tap the album artwork to get show notes it’s not obvious that the “i” icon in the bottom right will take you back.

もう10年以上使い続けていますが、
特に不満もなく便利に使っています。
早聞きも出来ますので時間が有効活用できます。
登録状態もインポート、エクスポートできるのでいざという時の引き継ぎや他への転用も大丈夫です。
チャネルを分類するとか高機能では無いですが、埋もれさせずにすぐ聞くと言う使い方ですのでそこまでいらないと言うのが正直なところです。

This app has all I've ever wanted to manage and listen to podcasts. It lets you fine tune settings per podcast or globally, choose whether you want to receive notifications (also per podcast or globally), and more.
It also has a very good "smart speed" feature, to automatically adjust playback speed and remove silences - a godsend for talk podcasts.
Best of all, it's free with optional donations!
I ditched the default podcast app and haven't looked back since I got this one.

Apple's native 'Podcasts' should be called 'Full Body Casts' for all the flexibility it offers. And then they send me fleeing from their already marginal product after the self-destruction they brought in the iOS 10 update.

Overcast does EXACTLY what I'd personally wished for from a podcast app: dark interface option; download latest; custom controls for my headphones…I'll have more after a few weeks use, I'm certain.

Fantastic app with--thus far--zero disappointment.

Overcast Watch app is what I'm looking for! Now I can run without my iPhone!

Apple Watch に、ポッドキャストを送って、iPhoneナシでも聴けるようになった。前回のバージョンまではやや不安定だったけど、今回のアップデートから安定してます。最高。

I’ve used almost a dozen different podcast apps over the years but Overcast is by far the best for ease of use and discovering new shows. Easy Saving, sharing, and flexibility of listening how I like it (for example, customizing speeds for different podcasts) are just some of the reasons I keep coming back to Overcast. Cheers for the good work!

Feature request: when I add a new podcast, I’d like to quickly add all past episodes. But today after adding, I am taken back to home screen and have to search for the podcast I just added to get to the screen to add all the old episodes. A way to add a podcast and quickly then add old episodes would be quite useful. Thanks!

標準のアプリがバージョンアップの度に使いづらくなるため、こちらを使ってみました。ランキングがないことと、日本語の検索がヒットしにくいことが難点ですが、それを上回る見た目と使い勝手の良さです。

Simple, powerful and complete interface. The new update for the watch make it finally useable. The crown for the sound level was missed. Be able to listen with the Watch only is great and won't make me move back to the Apple app (podcast available from WatchOS 5)

Best podcast app ever.
People like to complain about how the new version have ads but it's not annoying at all and you can turn it off by going premium with reasonable cost.
The developer also has his own podcast show and I recommend checking it out.

Hands down the most streamlined and user friendly podcast software package ever made. Very minimal advertising and promotional material. If you are sick to back teeth of Spotify (what a joke) you’ll love this app.

自分が聴いているpadcastは一回3時間とながいので、人の声が不自然にならない程度で速度を早くしてくれるこのアプリには本当にお世話になってます

pixel7に乗り換えてポッドキャストを使おうとしたら、どれもこれも使いにくい。今更ながらOvercastの偉大さがわかった。Android版出してくださいね。

I'm using iOS 14.x and every time I try adding podcasts the app returns an sync error. Not sure if they changed the way to fetch the data, but I think it's time to cut off this app. Thanks man

This is the best Podcast application because the high speed play capability is much better than other podcast applications. It is so clear that you will forget that you have enabled it!
