I've got so many xp pots I don't know what to do with them all but can't even get plain wood to drop to save my life. The merchant boat helps but gold ain't dropping from the skies like mana or something so buying what the he has isn't always an option.

This is one of the best games I've played in a while. Very addictive and fun. It might get repetitive due to all the grinding you need to do, but the constant events will keep you interested and involved. I have a slight bug where I exit the app, then come back to find some of my progress gets Rolled back by about 5 minutes of playing.
