UPDATE:
I have all 8 Heart Tanks - the one that used to be in the Flame Mammoth level is NOT where it used to be. Instead, it's on the "safe" flooring just above the lava in the part of the level where the flames jump up out of the lava (same scene where you get the sub tank and the power-buster upgrade). No special skills are required for this Heart Tank, just go all the way to the bottom-right of the scene and you'll hit a dead-end. This is where your Heart Tank is :)

The controls take some getting used to and there are some things that have been changed, but nothing that's extremely major or detracts from the quality of the game. I hope Capcom doesn't abandon Mega Man X on iOS like they did with the core series. I would LOVE to see MMX2 on iOS and would be more than happy to pay another $5 for it!

My recommendations to gamers:
1) auto charge is on by default, but I have it turned on only for the Buster - its helpful to do this since (at the least), it allows you to leave more room for the screen.
2) first thing I did was to switch the screen type from Full Screen to Normal. Upon further investigation, I found that parts of the screen (sometimes near-vital ones) aren't visible with the Full Screen view. It makes sense because this game was originally formatted for the 4:3 aspect ratio… or have many of you forgotten? Doing Normal will give you the best viewing area and I enjoyed the game more when I switched to it.

I can't believe I"ve played MMX for years and NEVER knew that if you actually explore, you can find loads of upgrades (besides the end of level, beat the boss weapon upgrades) - and probably wouldn't have ever known if they didn't port MMX to the iOS. Aside from that, it's a great port. I haven't had any problems with the virtual controls, they work great, the physics, enemies, everything else is brought over perfectly. The only thing I would love to see is the original graphics, animations, and the way the levels weren't split up in the original (you didn't transfer over to different screens... the levels were one huge level) - but even with that, it's a fantastic port of one of the best Mega Man games ever. Totally recommended.

Thank you for making the game Universal, but the button positioning is pretty uncomfortable. Really hope joypad support or button customization is added in a future update.

First of all any one who complains about the controls obviously has not gone to the settings to customize them. It is easy to find a control lay out that works well. it does have times where you have a screen change but it almost always is where there are no enemies in the original so no big deal. Great job for a touch screen phone app. I play this and mega man 2 all the time whether its on my phone, computer, or Nintendo. If your looking for a B-A game this is it. It is my favorite game of all time along with mega man two so its awesome that these two would be available on the iPhone. And just a note the original was released for the Super Nintendo or super famicom and you could not play as anyone else but x. Also it's the greatest game of all time. Just look up "sequalitis megaman classic vs megaman x" on you tube. Probably the best explanation on what makes this game so gosh darn great!!!

Having played the original megaman x,I think this is a great remake of it,but there a couple things wrong,such as not being able to get extra lives,and the fact that it looks like a flash game on newgrounds.
However,the music is the same,the game mechanics are the same,and plus
Cool bonuses like achievements,and leaderboards,(I might add,things that WERE NOT available in the original) make this a great addition for any avid megaman fan.
I really don't see why there are people that hate this so much. If you don't like it then why did u buy it? Go play on your snes. Sure, the price is a little high,but you should be glad capcom even gave you a game at all. You would probably complain if they ported the complete original to the iOS. In my opinion,it's people's complaining that killed the series, not capcom.
Really,it's a great game,if you need to kill time or are just looking for a good game.

I used to play this on Super Nintendo back in the day and I have to say, Capcom has done an amazing job at bringing it back to life. It's addicting and nostalgic. I beat this on normal and on hard too. Buttons take a few levels to get used to, but then becomes pretty easy to use.

I really wish there were more solid, 2D platformer games like this available in the App Store. If Nintendo released Super Mario Brothers or Donkey Kong Country in the App Store, I'm pretty sure, I'd spend all 24 hours of the day on my phone. I know Nintendo has their reservations about handing 33% of their profits over to Apple though...

So CAPCOM!! If you make or revive another game like this, I WILL GIVE YOU MY MONEY!!! Please continue this trend! You have made my life a little happier. Thank you.

Mike Leo, whine a little more please? CAPCOM can't help it that you're an incompetent gamer that can't handle the controls and the graphics are fine, they are actually slightly better (even though original was awesome). What's wrong with adding more modes anyways? You still pretty much have the original game as well as the added features. The only disappointment was how the stages are not altered after beating bosses like in the original (like flame mammoths heart container was out of place because the lava wasn't frozen after chill penguin! ...lol)

If you like Mega Man X then you will love it. Don't let the "unresponsive controls" fool you. Just play longer than 5 min then you will be flying across stages as you would with the controller....almost.
