I have held off reviewing this magazine app based on the fact that I knew eventually they were going to end up offering it free for print subscribers. To review it beforehand would, in my opinion, cause me to unfairly criticize it for a pricing structure that is not wholly Time's fault. The magazine is great, the pricing was not. Finally, the day has arrived for print subscribers to rejoice.

What a surprise, another under-rated app. Cost of the magazine aside, people need to evaluate the app and the experience! That said, the TIME iPad app is a joy to read. Yes, it's too expensive and yes, they REALLY need a solution to get previously purchased app-issues inside this new all-encompassing app (which they should have had since the beginning), but simple pricing is something that can be fixed in an instant. If the app itself was not good, it would take a lot of effort on their part to fix it. TIME has done a great job though in utilizing this technology for their magazine layout. When I am reading I find myself switching from landscape to portrait mode all the time just to see which way is "better" to read, but the designers have done an amazing job of making both orientations useful. This is unlike the PopSci app, which really is only useful in portrait mode and feels more thrown together in comparison.

Have been a Time subscriber for more than 40 years. Do not understand previous review. Opening the current week issues a few minutes ago, opens right where I left off. If you have closed app, (I don't normally while reading an issue) when reopening it usually opens at cover then quickly jumps to last read page. (Patience fellow reader).

Better than the hardcopy

Time magazine is great on the iPad. The print is bigger than the paper hardcopy, so it's very easy to read. Plus you get extra content in this digital version. Would love to see the landscape format
