Bought this app recently prior to making a roadtrip from L.A. to Dallas taking the I-40/Old Route 66 route...we had considered ourselves pretty well versed in the the roadside attractions along this particular stretch of highway but this app really opened our eyes! We learned about (and visited) sights we had never known existed. (i.e "Standin' on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona" and The Worlds Tiniest Skyskraper in Wichita Falls, TX) . No doubt this app was the highlight of our roadtrip.
During our trip, I was loving this app so much, I upgraded to the full United States. We had hours of fun reading and learning about historical and strange/interesting places all over the country....am thinking this would be a great way to plan our next road trip. I have also found some really cool andInteresting things near where we live that I want to go check out.

Planning on using this app to for our next road trip and our upcoming vacation to Hawaii. Definitely worth the money...it's a great app and provided my family and myself with hours of fun entertainment on an otherwise very long car ride...

Never had any problems with app...and of course if you are out in the middle of nowhere this app is not going to work....neither is you phone, Eienstein!! Only found that to be an issue just a few times in just a couple of real remote areas in AZ and NM....didn't last for long though, maybe 5-10 minutes.

It is true that if you want to unlock multiple regions you have to pay more. I took the chance and unlocked the whole country and was rewarded with parts of Canada too. All told it was less than $10 - expensive for an app but way cheaper and easier to use than a book.

I had tried another roadside app that cost less than this app. I was very disappointed by the number of attractions. This one has tons! Roadside America even has one listed near my hometown (where I have lived for 30 years) that I didn't even know existed.

Yesterday we took a short, 6 hour, road trip. We didn't stop at every attraction but here are some of the ones we saw: 50-foot thermometer, alien crash landing site (with aliens), longest burning light bulb (and friendly firefighters), and the computer history museum. There was so much more we wanted to do, like the world's largest permanent outdoor monopoly board, but we just ran out of steam.

This app also has tons of features like sunset alarm and an escape call you can preset for those roadside attractions with chatty people. You can easily save attractions you are interested in and keep track of ones you have seen. The descriptions are great and the tips from other users are helpful as you can learn from other people's experiences.

I can't say enough good things about this app!

I love Roadside America. For years I used their website to plot out my roadtrips. I have seen some really crazy stuff because of it. When this app came out, I was STOKED! Even if I have to pay $6 a year for access to the full country (and lets be real....$6/yr works out to $.50 a month....a little less than $.02 a day), its a bargain to have on your phone.

Except one major problem. You need service to use it. Unfortunately, AT&T doesn't have the greatest coverage in-the-middle-of-nowhere where alot of these great things to see are. If you stick to the interstate, you'll most likely be ok. Get off too far or try to travel down cool parts of RT66 and you'll find the notorious "No Service" in your phones top left corner.

It's probably BEST to use this app in conjunction with a pre-planned trip using their website. I still recommend this app because most travelers stick to the interstate and will have coverage 80% of the time, but if you like getting out there to see the really crazy stuff, be warned - AT&T will have your data-needy apps grounded.

Thrilled to find out that the Roadside America website had an app, and just in time for my cross-country move! Love the app and all the offbeat attractions. Although I initially balked at spending the $2.99 for the app/1 region and then $5.99 for the remaining 6 regions, it's clear that the money goes to keeping information up to date and the app working smoothly - something I hope continues with future updates. Two additional features I'd like to see with the app include the option for setting a date and recording a short note to record when you've "been there!" so that you've got a record of fun journeys! Another feature would be selection/saving attractions and then creating a route - something that's available online (sort of) but would be super easy given that the app can already export locations to waze/Google/etc. still, 5 stars!!!

Just back from a 6 week road trip across the USA, I have to say that this was, by far, the most fun and useful app on the entire trip. It lead me to places I might never have experienced, or even heard about without the app. I have also been able to add to their database with roadside attractions I discovered along the way myself. I purchased the whole package with all the regions and the app enhanced my trip a thousand fold from what it would have been like with only maps and travel guides. This app and the add ons was worth every penny I paid. I love everything Roadside America and this app is the perfect companion for folks on the road, looking for fun and adventure along the way. Worked like a charm every time, provided I had service, which, with ATT was spotty throughout the trip. Buy it. Use it. Submit tips to it. Now hit the road!

I am traveling around the US this year and this app has been the greatest traveling companion. Not only do you see some of the most brilliantly random stuff, but most of the attractions come with a great description and history. I've learned so much about small and large communities through objects I would have otherwise driven past. It has also caused me to pay attention to other things in my day to day life that I probably would have never noticed before. Best $9 spent (to unlock the entire map). P.s. for those that complain about the cost, I dare you to find something else at this price on a trip that will provide as much endless entertainment.

I bought the app and the upgrade for the entire US. It is a good solid program and for the price a bargain when you consider the wealth of information available. I travel all over the US and used to create lists of attraction I wanted to visit. Having the program allows me to discover as i go! The upgraded version makes it even more fun. Now I have been using it on my new ipad as I travel all over the U.S. and it works great! My navigator wife keeps an eye on upcoming attractions so we know what lay ahead. Haven't missed as single attraction yet! Can't wait for an ipad native version. Keep up the good work and see America First!

When we take a road trip, there is always something random happening. However, on those boring trips, this added the silliness we had been missing since our children grew up and moved away from home.
We went through all of the Iowa Side Trips. We found out we were only missing six...
We have a couple we are going to add to the "tips": The ones that are not listed. The only problem We have had with this app, is we cannot get the sound to work in the maps.
It also starts every single trip from the city we were located in when we bought the app until we figured out--read the directions FIRST. LOL. This is awesome!

I have 4 kids and we take road trip/camping trips every summer. Roadside America never fails to guide us on some unexpected adventure. Thanks to RA, we've experienced the weirdness/beauty that is Rock City, we've marveled at the mermaids of Weekee Wachee, we've learned how whiskey is made at the Jack Daniels Distillery, and we've even eaten fried green tomatoes at the Whistlestop cafe. I'm not even mentioning the giant peanut or superman or prairie dog statues we've seen. Really, what's a road trip without a couple of bizarre stops along the way? Thank you for the laughs and fun memories!!

There are many places that do not have their unique attractions listed. That's why it is great to take pictures and submit them to the app to help build up the database. Not all towns have cool and odd attractions, but that is not the apps fault. For the person who has an adventurous spirit this is a fun app, almost like a treasure hunt. It's a lot of fun to use. It opens ones mind to seeing new things. With this app I have found amazing and odd things on my trips to Denver, Amarillo, Abilene, Chicago, Fort Worth. I am working to build up the list for central Texas. Keep on adding!

I love this app! We live and travel a lot in Texas so the Southwest region is basically enough for us. But 2 years ago we made a road trip up to Yellowstone and back down to Texas via Mt Rushmore. And for this trip alone every penny to unlock all regions was well spent. We found so many cool, weird and fun things along the way, that the kids (5&10) and we adults enjoyed. And it's most of the time things that aren't mentioned in any travel guides. My personal favorite are the Beatles statues and the presidents' heads in Houston.

I love stopping at the amazing, obscure & weird places across America, and this app makes it so much easier!! Very easy to use, select an area and click on "Show attractions in this area" and presto!! You can also plan your trip in advance and "save" the roadside attractions you want to visit! Definitely worth the $2.99 (provides for one region of your choice. Since we were traveling across the states we went ahead and paid $5.99 for the rest of the United States.

I have used this app as I travel the USA on business or pleasure! When I hit the road I always see what is nearby. I'm amazed at how much we miss in our daily "busy" lives. I purchase the entire country for my travel choices. Highly recommend this for the adventure of whats out there. A must for families with kids that like to be adventurous. See what great or weird things await you! We've been to all 50 states and find it fun to hunt for the unexpected. D&N.

Whether you are looking for new and weird things in your own neighborhood or distractions on a road trip to get off the highway, this app has it all! I learned things about attractions and oddities I walk past every day I didn't know about. Some of the info could use a little refreshing to get it a bit more current, but it's really useful, layout is user friendly, directions are thorough, photos are helpful, and stories are well written and entertaining.

Traveling to run 50 marathons in 50 states requires some road trips and silly memories with friends. This app makes for GREAT opportunities to stretch the legs, see random American fun, and learn about some amazing places and people. It's one of my top 10 favorite apps for the ability to make a travel list and save points of interest, see what's near me now, and save some of the wildest discoveries to share with others!

This will be the second time we've purchased this app. It is now on both my phone and my fiancée's and is a bargain at twice the price. Road trips are a little longer with our detours but twice as fun. This app is worth it for the commentary from the Roadside America folk alone. It's worth it but don't forget you only get one region with your initial purchase but The whole shebang is still a bargain!

The money you spend to get this app will be saved on your first leg of your first trip! These guys have it all with well over thousands of places to visit in United States and Canada! Their work with other travelers and their ability to include travel tips and hints make this app priceless. Travelographer extraordinaire Sumoflam uses this app for every single road trip weather closer far.

One of my favorite. Being a full time RV'r we are constantly crossing the country. This app has brought us countless hours of entertainment. It is like a scavenger hunt finding the different places in the different cities. We visited some friends in Hawaii and they had no idea where "the clock of doom" was in Hilo. They passed it regularly but never voiced it. Thanks for the fun.

I bought this late on a Friday hoping to use it in my travels over the weekend. My activation email warned me of a potential glitch due to the most recent system update. It happened and after following the easy steps outlined, their support replied in minutes that I was good to go. With great service like this, I can't wait to give this app a lengthy test drive!

My family took a two week vacation from MN to Manitoba, Canada to Yellowstone, WY to Mt Rushmore, SD and back to MN this summer. We loved using this app to find fun little detours for silly photo opps that helped break up some long days in the car. It helped relieve the boredom and was fun to read the descriptions of some really crazy roadside stops.
