I previously wrote a review of this product giving it 2 stars because the promised upgrade (with key features) advertised when I bought it seemed to never appear. Well it finally did appear and it certainly delivers. The flashcards are very good but most of all the examples are a great tool. When trying to fully understand the meaning of a word, having some context is a real asset. Lots of other good features also. With the additional features and upgrades this is the best japanese dictionary/study aid I`ve come across. A must have for anyone trying to master the language.

日本語の活用形も載っている。しかも、手書きで漢字を調べる事ができる。
ホームスクリーンは、勉強意欲を掻き立てる様に、文字が流れて行く。
そして、英語を勉強してる日本人にも、ぜひ使って欲しい。
映画を見ている時や、外国人との会話の時に、さっと調べたい時はこの辞書は、使える！
詳しく調べたい人には、向かないかな。
とにかく、すばらしいアプリだ。

Coolest Japanese learning App I ever seen....

A note for beginners: make sure that you can read hiragana and katakara... not very advanced but a little.. this app will help you... just go through the app.... Good luck my friend...!!!!

After using this app for quite some time now, I would love to see an audible feature on the flashcards. During "study" mode, I would like to be able to listen to a word (as opposed to reading it) and identify it.

This app would be unbeatable among Japanese dictionaries if you would add this feature on your next update. I'm a foreigner living in Japan for almost 8 years now and I'm a serious language teacher, so I know what a good material is when I see one.

This is a good app. Make it great!

Not only is Japanese a great dictionary with extensive entries, additional reference info and a sleek radical search interface, it also manages to be an excellent study tool. Searched terms can be put into lists which feed into a built in spaced review function. I can’t recommend this as a go-to Japanese reference app. My only requests would be more example sentences, possibly pulling from something like Weblio, and the ability to choose/edit the flashcard fields in the study function.

Thousands of entries and example sentences, generous handwriting recognition, references out the wazoo, helpful study tools, and works offline - in 2011 these were the reasons why this app helped me as a student and struggling speaker of Japanese. Now, as a professional translator, this app is STILL my go-to reference (the only thing more helpful is a Japanese language dictionary). Split view and text reader features are crazy helpful. It's truly the bee's knees.

This is a must-have application for anyone studying Japanese. Incredibly easy to use and contains a great deal of information for those studying Japanese at any level. I have downloaded other applications - e.g. Imiwa? - but this one is far better than any one of them. I especially like the kanji categories and the fact that the meanings and words are updated regularly to reflect the latest changes in the language. It is money really well-spent.

Props to the makers of this app! I mostly use it to look up words and bookmark them to review later, but I really enjoy most how easy it is to look up a word and then tap on the individual meaning of each character to see what other compound words that kanji is used for. It helps give context while studying. And (as a designer) I really appreciate they’ve used the simple design of native iOS which works really well for this type of content!

I have been using this dictionary for more than 4 years now and I have not had single experience where the word was not available in the dictionary. We need to be perfect while searching the word but this dictionary covers almost everything from kanji order, JLPT level, proverb, custom lists to flash cards.

I will be be forever grateful to the developer of this app.

白状すると、何のソフトか知らないまま時間限定の無料＆高評価につられてインストールしました。ランダムに画面を流れる単語（日本語）に触れると、その単語を含む英文の用例も見られるので英語の勉強にも使えちゃいます。ソフトの作りがよく好印象。

This app was a very nice surprise! Very intuitive and comprehensive. Just what I was looking for! Love the floating words on the home screen for a random start to a impromptu study session. With the handwriting feature, I can easily look up words I can't pronounce yet. So handy! The only issue I have with it is it crashes on me. Please fix this.

数年前からこのアプリをダウンロードした。辞書としてはともかく書き順も例文もあるから非常に便利だと思う。このアプリのおかげで日本語の勉強が楽になる！特に無料で本当に感謝した！！例えお金を払わなければならないもこのアプリを使い続ける。

High recommended.
But suddenly some problem occurred and i don’t know why.
I used to be able to write the kanji on the iPad but now that option doesn’t appear anymore even with the latest updated version of the app. It’s so useful to be able to write the kanji when I don’t know the reading, please help me fix this issue.

Been using for 2 years, feeling very conveneint with sample sentences, kanji details: meaning& writing steps, etc. The most impressive is that we can write the kanji coming across and get the meaning at once. Recommending for all ranges of learners of Japanese language. Thank the creators & sponsors of this application.

This is awesomest application I downloaded for reading Japanese. There are so many ways you can read vocabulary and Kanji and track them using different color coding. Can take self test and check your progress. This is a must have application for your Japanese study.Hats off to the developer for such amazing app.

I use this app when know no Japanese, now I still use this app from day to day basis even when I have passed the N1 for a year.

In my opinion this is one of the best jp-eng dictionary on iOS.

Can't wait for the iOS 7 look update.

Using this app since maybe 10 years ago? When it was paid app on my old iphone 4s if I remember correctly.

Would be great if author bring back search for phrase and by end of word ( as it was before).
Also improve writing input recognition.
Overall, all time favourite.

Use this all the time, using component lookup and japanese keyboard mostly. Handwriting support of kanji is still a bit dodgy, but seems to be improving. Flashcard support is a nice bonus. Also love being able to paste sentences and getting each word translated.
