使い方や遊び方

The app is created by DNAWORKS (www.dnaworks.org), an arts and service organization based in Fort Worth, TX, that is a sponsored project of the national arts fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas (http://www.fracturedatlas.org). DNAWORKS has a fifteen-year history of working nationally and internationally with universities, performing arts and cultural organizations, and the US State Department. Co-Director Adam W. McKinney, M.A., is an Assistant Professor at Texas Christian University and Daniel Banks, Ph.D., is an Associate Adjunct Professor at City University of New York.

The purpose of the app is educational, to raise awareness and to provide users with historical information about the 1921 murder of Mr. Fred Rouse, a Black man kidnapped and lynched by a White mob. The app takes the user through a tour of four locations in Fort Worth connected to this history. Beginning December 4, 2020, DNAWORKS will be leading live, socially distant tours to these sites. Each site page on the app contains historical research (photos, newspaper articles), responses to this history by local and national artists, and augmented reality content to permit the user to more fully engage with the site in person.

In addition to this app, which is partially supported by the City of Fort Worth Diversity & Inclusion Department as well as multiple noted arts foundations, DNAWORKS is working with local non-profit Tarrant County Coalition for Peace and Justice (a partner on these tours) and the City of Fort Worth’s Mayor’s office to install memorial plaques to Mr. Rouse in December 2021 in memory of the 100th anniversary of his death. We are also partnering with Fort Worth Bike Sharing, soon to be a division of the City of Fort Worth’s public transit system, who are providing free bike rental for people taking the tour.

The DONATION button will link to our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, as tax-deductible donations to DNAWORKS. The funds will go towards the project expenses, including the creation of the app and leading the tours. The app will have an “at-home” setting for people anywhere to access the content. There is no charge for the app or the tour. Our goal is to spread understanding of this history in Fort Worth to promote community dialogue and healing.

The app recounts a tragic history of racial terror violence. Therefore we recommend a “mature” rating for users 15 or over. This project has been formally supported and endorsed by seventeen noted local leaders and organizations, including Black faith-based organizations. The app is part of DNAWORKS mission to eradicate racism and it is for audience members interested in anti-racism, restorative justice, and peace-building.
