Welcome to Ox Hill (Chantilly) Battlefield Park – Fairfax County’s only major Civil War battlefield. We invite you to enjoy the park, its interpretive trail, and other battlefield points of interest beyond the park while you explore this app.

• Use this GPS-enabled mobile tour to discover notable points of interest at and nearby Ox Hill Battlefield Park.

• Uncover the history of the Battle of Ox Hill – also known as the Battle of Chantilly – which was fought in the late afternoon on September 1, 1862, during a severe thunderstorm.

• Learn about the preservation battle that occurred here in the late 1980s and 1990s that – while saving only 4.9 acres of the historic 500+ acre battlefield – sparked the modern battlefield preservation movement.
