Love the simplicity and efficiency of this app! It makes dealing with money with other people SO much easier and even more playful / less heavy than chasing down and coordinating with people to get paid back, and making sure you have exactly enough cash at all times.

Great app, but they need 1 important fix. They are willing to pay you $1 for every referral you can get to join Venmo. You must get your friend to use a link with your name on it for this to happen. They need to enable this same link to be sent when you go through your contact list in your venmo account so you receive credit. That way I can send a mass invite to all my contacts and still receive a small amount of compensation for those I can get to join your Venmo network. You could ever consider offering $2 to those individuals that reach 10 referrals. That way every referral thereafter we get paid double. And your venmo app will expand extremely fast!

Most of these reviews aren't even hitting the point of the app: It's made for small transactions within friend circles or even small business transactions. If you owe someone $5 for gas, boom! Done. Anything bigger should probably be handled directly by a bank. Not saying Venmo can't handle it, but it's not what it's best suited for. Yet. It's new and has potential. It's a shame to see negative comments like "I can't see who I've sent requests to", and "PayPal is so much better". You should probably know who you've sent requests to. Either a) they owe you money; or b) you owe them. PayPal charges for $5 payments. Venmo doesn't. Small amounts of money swapped back and forth make this app so easy and convenient. I'd like to see Venmo make some improvements, and I believe they will. Sherwood better make some moves up there :)

This application seriously makes college 10 times easier. You really don't need to worry about going out to eat with big groups, ever, or taking out cash for rent and stuff like that.

For the comment below about not being able to send a large sum of money, I would argue it has more to do with the fact they're using a prepaid card than the platform. I've sent over 2000$USD nary a problem. Venmo is a great platform because, like PayPal, it doesn't matter who you bank with. I love Chase QuickPay as well, but many of my friends haven't got Chase- so it doesn't solve much. Venmo allows you to send funds to anyone regardless of their banking institution, and allows them to withdraw and deposit within a day.

I have a large family that doesn't live that close together. We are always getting together for holiday's and birthday's where we all chip in. Trying to keep track of who paid you and who still needs to was such a pain and Venmo takes care of that. Not only is it easy to collect money but it's just as nice to pay people. No running to the ATM for cash, no looking for an envelope and stamps, and you don't have to keep the money on hand until you find the person you need to pay.
