I'm not going to say anything original from the other reviewers, so consider this my vote of protest. I currently subscribe to the eMag and the iPhone app. It is insulting, at the least, that Mr. Kimball & Co now expect supporters like me to fork out even more dough for the same information in the iPad app. I respectfully disagree with other reviewers who support this decision due to CI not having paid advertisers. This argument held some weight with me for the first two subscriptions, but it is a sophistry with the third. I am disappointed but, sadly, not surprised. Aside from this statement here, which I have little confidence will be read or seriously considered by the decision makers, the only real form of protest I have is to cancel both of my current subscriptions. This will happen the moment I hit "submit" to this review. Perhaps if enough people follow suit they will actually listen?

I had a print subscription to Cooks Illustrated for several years. In the last two years or so, I communicated with them several times to find out when they would have a digital (read iPad) edition. Always the same answer, "We don't know." Tried to write to Chris to see if I could get some guidance from him. They made it almost impossible to find a way to communicate with him directly. Finally, got so exasperated with their lack of response that I let my subscription lapse. Imagine my delight to have run across this app today. After reading comments from many disgruntled print subscribers, I consider myself fortunate that I didn't have a hard copy subscription. That way I didn't have to pay for a print and digital subscription. I agree that whoever made that decision at the company did not have customer relations in mind.
